[Archived] Sing Up

Recommended Posts

To the tune of "Let it Be" by The Beatles

When I find myself in times of trouble, Steven Reid he comes to me,

playing total football, Steven Reid, Steven Reid,

And in my hour of darkness he is standing right in front of me,

playing total football, Steven Reid, Steven Reid.

Steven Reid, Steven Reid, Steven Reid, Steven Reid.

Playing total football Steven Reid, Steven Reid...

Wouldn't this be more appropriate...

Just when Rovers are through on goal, Steven Reid gets the ball.

and he passes backward, what a dweeb, Steven Reid.

On the subject of singing, I've always wondered why we sing "Burnley fans eat bananas with their feet" - the "shag their sisters in the bath" is good, but I always thought something like "Burnley fans have six fingers on each hand" is an improvement.

Then again sometimes I have no idea why we sing about Burnley, especially at away matches, i'm not sure if Reading (some 220 miles away) actually care much.

This is a reoccuring issue that comes up all the time.

One of the most important thing is to make the song as simple as you can.

I think the "roque, roque santa cruz" is quite good but why do people insist on chanting "rockie, rockie".

If you listen to some of utds songs, you'll notice how some of the songs are very simple or use a tune thats very recognisable-including nursery ryhmes.

2 that come mind is "gary neville is a red" and "build a bonfire" not the most original of tunes but it is easy for everybody to sing along to.

I remember a saying in the BBE during the 80's - "sing something simple, you simple c##ts"

I remember a saying in the BBE during the 80's - "sing something simple, you simple c##ts"

think you will find it was actually a word beginning with t and rymed with hats.

with ste on this one rather have the drummer than some of the tosh thats been wrote.

do people want hymn sheets and songs sung at a set time....chants develop naturally not to a set sheet

Problem is waggy - not many songs do actually develo at ewood. Where as United have a set of supporters that actually try to develop new songs, hence why they have far more than anyone. Our songs are boring, predictable and the same old!

Last nights crowd was the biggest since we beat United at home, just before Christmas in 2002, The Garry Flipfop game.

Though our crowd was excellent, as of course were the United fans as usual, and the atmosphere was great. If it was like that evert week, we would be higher up the League.

The Man Utd song was sung to great effect by Larissa's fans when they visited Ewood. It was going around my mind for the rest of the evening and I thought at the time that it was so catchy and atmospheric that we should adapt and adopt it. Too late now I guess.
