i cant see anybody taking over the club in the next couple of years...imo,if we progress even more, and we qulify for the champions league or something, then somebody might step in with a firm bid.

Nicko, any news of the potential takeover, is Chris Ronnie still interested, or has he joined Man City ?

There's been a development on the Rovers side, small but possibly significant.

As for the Man City think I know that this guy Garry Cook goes with them to Thailand and will be getting his 'team' together quickly.

So I would say both are still possible options, but obviously the Rovers one takes money - and a plan.

Obvious question

What ia the small but possibly development on the Rovers side?

The clubs value has dropped by about £5m after Roberts performance today?

Ask a question of somebody and others butt in with pathetic answers.

Every single player for Rovers was in a difficult position today - they did not want to be a club that put the final nail in the coffin and send another club down. They were quite happy for other clubs to do it.

One thing I noticed was that from the moment Rovers scored they took the foot off the peddle. St Andrews was like a grave yard when the home supporters realised that both Reading and Fulham were winning.

Personally I am happy Rovers finished 7th - not being in european competition next year gives the players an extra few weeks rest to allow them to start fresh next season. I think people forget that Rovers started this season a lot earlier than other teams this year.

Roberts did as well as anybody today, though Bentley did have an off day.

It's a bit of a mystery to me why we appear to be struggling to find suitable buyers when you read stories in the Press of bidders lining up to pay 250m for Spurs etc.

For the 200m saving you could achieve by buying Rovers, a half decent manager could surely construct a side capable of constructing a legitimate challenge for the title for the forseeable future.

Unless you're Houllier and Rafa that is.......................

I suppose it again boils down to Location and appeal, more than anything else…Its not what clubs do on the field of play, but where they are situated.we could probably be in the champions league, and nobody would want to buy us,because the area Blackburn doesn’t appeal to them.

are you really comparing a club that has about a million fans ( and an incredibly rich corporate hospitality base) with one that has 25,000 and sells a couple of boxes?

Ask Phil to do a quick comparison of the accounts - they probably turn over more in corporate hospitality, than we do with all our revenue streams.

it's staggering that we're able to compete with them at all. Kudos to John Williams & Mark Hughes.

I think the point is that you can save yourself 200 million in buying the club, if you then invest 200 million into the side you would have a vastly superior side and, if the right players had been bought, a serious chance of getting into the champions league. If you then got into the champions league the investment would probably prove more profitable.

Anyone buying Spurs would presumably need to find money for a new stadium too as they are currently planning on a rebuild. They are going to want something pretty good as they think they are as good as Arsenal and their stadium cost a fortune, even when offset against the sale of the luxury flats they're building on what was Highbury

That analysis works for anyone coming in wanting a vanity purchase i.e. football success but no profit. Most of the investors looking at Premier League clubs now aren't in the Jack Walker/Abramovich mould and will want some return. Rovers will never be able to generate the revenues for this type of investment whatever the success on the pitch. Even filling Ewood every week at our current prices would give us a fraction of the income of the better supported and located clubs. Have a look at Spurs season ticket prices quoted on that thread.

I hear that Chris Ronnie spoke at a meeting in Manchester ysterday for a magazine called The Insider - and was quizzed about the possible Rovers takeover bid. I believe he confirmed his interest.

But if anyone was there or knows someone who was feel free to pass on the info - and the rest of what he said.

You the Journalist Nicko...dont you have better contacts than some of the guys on here... ;)

That's why I mentioned there was a meeting...hoping that some of our businessmen/accountant types would have been at it.

If I'd known it was on I would have tried to sneak in.

Nicko, besides this small step you been talking about, has Chris Ronnie somehow indicated anywhere else besides what you mentioned now, that he is interested in Rovers.ive been trying to get something from somewhere, where he has publically come out to say,he is at least interested.
