RevidgeBlue Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Still wouldn't have stopped Hughes moving, unless you could have added another zero. Possibly, but we can't really say that for sure. I would have thought it would be the principle of the thing as much as the actual figures involved. You do an absolutely outstanding job with funding which although extremely welcome is not really sufficient to make you competitive in the transfer market with most other Premiership clubs. Then you get the funding withdrawn! What a way to treat someone who's done an exceptional job!. On the flip side, whilst he might have more money to spend, Sparky is probably going to have to produce either a trophy or Champions League place at Eastlands most seasons to avoid getting the bullet. He wouldn't have been under anything like the same pressure had he remained at Ewood.

b12_simon Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Why couldnt they have announced this while Hughes was still here?! It's been postulated elsewhere on this board that either Hughes leaving put a rocket up them or they held back because they suspected he'd be leaving.
alexanders Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Why couldnt they have announced this while Hughes was still here?! One of the reasons states by the board is the fact the new manager has created a lot of buzz and optimism around Ewood Park.
yoda Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Still wouldn't have stopped Hughes moving, unless you could have added another zero. Chances are that Frank (3 of his lawyers have been banged up for attemting to bribe the judges) will end up in the clink and Hughes won't have any money to spend!

Well, apparently, Hughes wanted teh Newcastle job before Keggy Keegle got it, so he's obviously a glutton for punishment.
neekoy Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Why couldnt they have announced this while Hughes was still here?! Got to agree on this. Mind you if 3 million is all we have to 'improve' the squad we are in all kinds of hurt and trouble
FourLaneBlue Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Still wouldn't have stopped Hughes moving, unless you could have added another zero. 3million to be spent adequately replacing Savage in January when we were only a win off the Champions League places...we might be in Europe now. Hughes might still have left but we would have been in an ever better position when it came to finding our new boss. Still...it has gone and let us see if Ince can do anything with it.
Mc Love Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Someone on official said the mystery yanks are willing to pay asking price for the club...Nicko good sir, have you any ideas??
PAFELL Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Someone on official said the mystery yanks are willing to pay asking price for the club...Nicko good sir, have you any ideas?? Do you have a link to this?
PAFELL Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Someone on official said the mystery yanks are willing to pay asking price for the club...Nicko good sir, have you any ideas?? And still no names or any indications whatsoever, as to who is interested. I hope there is but WHO. Maybe somebody from the official board can give us all the answer - neither the LET or the officail board have given any name whatsoever - nor the national media. Personally I would like somebody with Jack Walkers attitude to Rovers to come along, loves the club. loves football, hates the top four, spend loadsamoney, gets Rovers into the champions league year in year out. But like everybody else I am allowed a dream. But until such a person comes along - the trusties are not interested. Until then I must dream of other things
Mc Love Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Maybe its the Yanks interested in buying Noocastle...and see rovers as a better deal??
PAFELL Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Maybe its the Yanks interested in buying Noocastle...and see rovers as a better deal?? If so why not say so - name them etc. Rovers are a better deal. Infact Rovers are a better deal than dubia international interests in Liverpool. For example if dubia say wanted to pay 500million for liverpool - dose anybody think it would take that much to make rovers a top 4 team? It is sad that these mega rich people want clubs who are already 'estabished' and don't want to start from a club who finished in a top 7th place. That is what makes me laugh about these rich people interested in premier clubs. American interests - maybe, maybe not - but who are they? What is their interest - plans etc. If they are so big then there does not need to be a mystery about them. If I had, say £500mill to spend I would not go anyway near the so called top 4. I would buy a club for a lot less money and support the playing squad. Becasue without success on the field there is NO club.
Mc Love Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Pafell, i think you are right mate, I mean they are spending more money for a club, that will earn them a quick buck, but it doesnt really make sense as they will be paying it off for years!!
gumboots Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 One of the reasons states by the board is the fact the new manager has created a lot of buzz and optimism around Ewood Park. So where is this buzz and optimism? Most fans I have spoken to are guarded in their optimism and even those like me who quite want to feel optimistic are getting less so as the days go by with new storties about who we want to let go and who is bidding for our players and who we are being linked with. I know it's early days and we'd rather take our time and do it properly but we also need to feel cheered and encouraged by at least some of what we read about our team and I've seen little to excite me yet. If the buzz and optimism are around ewood park how about sending some to the other end of Blackburn and out into the Ribble Valley because we're not feeling much.
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Someone on official said the mystery yanks are willing to pay asking price for the club...Nicko good sir, have you any ideas?? I understand it is a group from Boston. Financial people. They have been hanging around for a few months. Sorry, but no-one is paying £50 million-plus for the club and picking up the debts. We shall see.

Sorry, but no-one is paying £50 million-plus for the club and picking up the debts. We shall see. Then it is not new interest from america as claimed in the LET
Billy Castell Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I understand it is a group from Boston. Financial people. They have been hanging around for a few months. Sorry, but no-one is paying £50 million-plus for the club and picking up the debts. We shall see. Oh great, I bet we'll have to wear green and put on ridiculous false Irish accents, whilst having order a vile pint of stout! Or is it the band Boston, and we'll come out to More than a feeling?
RevidgeBlue Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Sorry, but no-one is paying £50 million-plus for the club and picking up the debts. I thought we wanted 40m for the Club plus picking up the debts? And, the American interest does then actually exist, despite your scepticism!
Eddie Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 In an absolute dream world for me we would be bought by Kraft, although I'm sure that he isn't involved.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 In an absolute dream world for me we would be bought by Kraft, although I'm sure that he isn't involved. Who?
Eddie Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Guy who owns the New England Patriots. Nice guy, great owner. He looked into buying Liverpool a while back. Obviously won't be him.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 So where is this buzz and optimism? If the buzz and optimism are around ewood park how about sending some to the other end of Blackburn and out into the Ribble Valley because we're not feeling much. There are some initial signs of encouragement coming out of the Ince regime: 1) Warnock has now stated he's happy to stay under Ince. 2) Samba has reportedly stated he's happy to stay under Ince. 3) The Trustees have restored their annual donation under Ince. (Mark Hughes must feel like he was wearing the wrong aftershave) Bentley probably still wants to leave but that's down to him and he would probably have still wanted to leave had Hughes still been here. As someone who wanted Ince in, even I'm not sure about the backroom team yet, but it's a case of "suck it and see" before leaping to any conclusions.
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 I thought we wanted 40m for the Club plus picking up the debts? And, the American interest does then actually exist, despite your scepticism! If you check the quotes from the local paper the price is now £50 million plus debts...seems to have gone up. The Americans have been hanging around since last December. Still no bid. Nobody knows who they are and nobody has bothered with them before. Funny they should suddenly be put forward as convenient bidders at this stage. Or maybe not so funny.
Mc Love Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 No way!! Thats Brilliant! (replying to eddies post) Damn didnt read whole sentence
