I can't believe Newcastle could be sold within 2 weeks, surely Mr Williams can see we need to dump rothchilds, get a new agency, get in touch with the guy who helped sell Chealsea, anything

I'd take your point more readily if you could explain just what it's got to do with John Williams.

Arsene Wenger said something recently which was quite astute.

"Why have they bought the club? I can't really find a rational answer. If it is just a toy for them then it is even more dangerous. You can have 20 billionaires in the Premier League, still only one can win it and one will come last. The problem is that when these people who have bought into football get tired of it, what will they leave behind?"

We all talk about rich owners, but if everyone has one, then whats the difference from before? Also, with the increased TV money, its great that we get more in but so do the other 19 clubs, so we are back at square one. All these things do is players ask for more, so costs increase...

And its a dangerous cycle of disaster waiting to happen.

And therein lies the problem.

Aren't we led to believe that the trustees have given Rothschilds a strict criteria in finding an owner?

:rover: we must be about 19th or 20th club any buyer would look at in the premier league.we ain't in london,we don't fill our ground.we have the history though, surely rovers or indeed the walkers could find someone.but he may be a russian gangster,or a fly be night cockney.it's not easy, better the devil we know i suppose :(:brfc:

A substantially rich Asian would benefit the club in the short, medium and long term. Why I hear you ask? Well here goes:

Against Fulham, we had 11,000 empty seats. I do not see how these can currently be filled by Rovers fans, even with all the offers we put on. Potentially an Asian owner could fill these seats as I believe the Asian population of Blackburn and possibly Preston, Accrington, Burnley would attend.

The birth rate of the Asian population is far out growing the white population in Blackburn. Therefore, if the Asians in Blackburn continue to support Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal…..what will become of Blackburn Rovers in 40 years time? Our crowds can only diminish as we currently only have 30+/- Asian season ticket holders. Therefore, it is imperative that the Asian population start to support their town team; or i really fear for it.

I spoke to an Asian taxi driver a few weeks ago and he said that the Multi Failth Room would bring more fans in. However, it did not really matter yet as their praying times do not coincide with the 3pm kick-off. In Winter they may require the use of it. On another note, he was born and bred in Blackburn but supported Birmingham.

Nah, we'd not be able to play in the IPL. Loads of Asians support India/Pakistan, though a Blackburn cricket team might gain support if it was created.

If a rich Aian chap took over, I'd hope that it wouldn't be a person who funds Islamic charities with the aim of converting people to an intolerant form that wants to be separate from non-Muslims.

Anyhow, I wouldn't care where they're from as long as they're not some flash Harry who wants a new toy. Randy Lerner is a pretty good role model.

Looking at it that way it somehow makes joining up with BPool, PNE and Burnley to form a self sufficient Lancs United so much more attractive.

Imagine the shirts for the 'Lancashire Utd' if the teams you mentioned joined up. We'd have to have claret, blue, white and orange stripes or quarters. Having said that we'd win a few more games, as the opposition would want to vomit because of the shirts. In theory it would be a good idea, but in practice, many of the Rovers/Burnley/Blackpool/Preston fans would not be interested as it is a team that is composed of the remains of them and their rivals. You have a clear sense of logic, one that spurs on mergers and so on in the private sector, but football has that irrational angle business doesn't. I doubt HSBC has a fanbase, or B&Q have a supporters branch in Singapore.

I think I know the answer to this, but where would Lancashire Utd play? In a new stadium?

The Red Rose covers the lot doesn't it?

Yes Theno, but if you are advocating that they should go out to play without any kit, and just wearing a red rose, it does beg the question: where exactly would you put it, and how would you attach it? It would also have to be a rather big rose and hopefully no thorns either.

I think you'll find it was the Trust that appointed Rothchilds...

Yes, the Trust appointed Rothschilds to find a buyer- they are the owners! However, it is a much more extensive relationship.

I believe the Jack and Fred Walker involved Rothschilds in the sale of Walker Steel and that Jack Walker used them as his primary financial advisers for many years prior to his death and the relationship with the Trust started when Jack established the Trust.

So they have been around for over twenty years and must have a detailed knowledge of what the Trustees can and cannot do under the terms of the Trust Settlement. That depth of professional relationship cannot easily be changed even if there is a desire to replace the Rothschilds for which there is no outward indication of it being the case.

Man City sold themselves through the press, we should be doing this also.

Only by getting into bed with mad Frank! If your owner is wanted for trial in the Far East, has had all his assets frozen and is on the verge of sending a PL football club over the brink as a result - and his wife should be in the nick - it's bound to get into the papers!!

I'd prefer Rovers to stick with Plan A ...

Plan A is pants, we are a "nothing team" in the eyes of the footballing world, with dying support, half empty stadium, no atmosphere.

I sing my heart out but i get fed up with every away team singing "your support is f*****ing sh**t" - but as a realist, our support at home is. Away we are a noisy bunch.

Plan B could get us an investor with money that would get more fans through the door, which increases the atmosphere and our profile.

My opinion for what it is worth. Pub time now, come on you bluesssssssss!

Really starting to wonder what is going on on the takeover front at the moment, with Newcastle interesting consortiums from south africa & Nigeria & talk this morning that Spurs could be ready to sell to an asian group I wonder why Blackburn dont seem to be getting any interest considering being on the market for so long!

I bought the News of the world yesterday only to find blatent advertisements for football clubs such as Portsmouth & Newcastle. These clubs are using all means available to draw in a new owner & it is working. Meanwhile, if you asked anyone outside this messageboard if they knew rovers were up for sail they would be surprised.

I realise certain criteria must be met for the club to be sold & i wouldnt want just anyone to come in only to disrupt the family club reputation that is associated with Blackburn but there must be more wealthy business men out there, like Randy lerner for example, who would be willing to buy the club for a fraction of what you would pay for spurs or newcastle!

Rothchilds may be conducting their business quietly, some may say admirably, over the last year but there has been very little solid interest that can be taken seriously. Something must be done in terms of marketing Blackburn Rovers before we are completly over taken by others as we cannot continue to survive when other clubs are spending millions. That said, it is impressive how John williams et al have managed to keep the club improving consistently.

So my suggestion is that we get on the bat phone to nicko & ask him do do us a favour & start a media campaign to push the club, it couldnt hurt to have a bit more exposure even if it attracts some undesirables im sure JW can weed them out!

I wonder if this South African bunch who want Newcastle contain any elements of the group that were lurking when the whole Dan Williams thing was unfolding. Glad Williams didn't succeed given he had US banks in his group, and was involved in property business over there. He can't have had much fun this month.

All i am saying is that as we are officially up fopr sale I would like to see some activity, as i said i dont want a shinawatra or ashley but a bit of excitement would be nice (not counting what is currently going on on the pitch)

Blackburn is a club that is continuely associated with the promoted clubs & strugglers even though, outside the big 4, we are probably one of the most successfull!!

I was just thinking that....

South African billionaire Johann Rupert has reportedly teamed up with the owner of Miami Dolphins NFL team Wayne Huizenga to make a potential bid for the men from Ewood Park.
