Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Not on the main boards but he told me via PM he would look into it. I don't think he knew anything about it until I passed on 1864's comments and quite recently on this thread he said he hadn't heard anything. I assume we will hear more if/when he finds out whether it's true. It's a rumour the same way player links are rumours but people discuss them.

nicko Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Has Nicko made any comment on here about these 3 interested in a takeover of rovers? I have checked it out and - from what I hear - it is a non-starter. There has been talk of a potential 'local' takeover but I know a senior figure at the club considers these people 'tyre kickers.' In other words, have a look and do nothing. I would be puzzled at the Matthewman suggestion. He is tied to the Trust anyway, so what would be in it for him to put money in and take a percentage of the club? Sadly, I don't think there is anything significant happening.
blue phil Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Jack's son in law - Richard Matthewman, owns Neales Waste Management Sounds promising - he can start with our midfield .......
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Well I can't say I'm stunned about that particular scenario seemingly going nowhere.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Another story relating to West Ham's "Icelandic banks" takeover. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-21327895/
Silencio Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Well I can't say I'm stunned about that particular scenario seemingly going nowhere. How do you know it isn't? Because there has been no news one week on from the original rumour? Vinjay, you are the most boring poster on here....
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Well Alan Nixon looked into it and said it's going nowhere. He probably would have written a story about it in the People today otherwise. As my signature clearly states I'm not here to be a comedian. If you want attempts at humor I suggest you check out Fleming's Portsmouth preview thread.

I've no problem with Nicko but it's not as simple as "what he says goes". If they are not taking over then they are probably not wealthy enough so why be disappointed? It seems you would like anyone to take over. You might not be here to be a comedian but you ARE the messageboard joke...
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I'm not that devastated about it. Sounded like it would just be to make another takeover easier anyway so no real difference. If Nixon says it's not going anywhere then it probably isn't otherwise he would probably have a story about it. If people thought there was any truth in this rumor there would probably be some further discussion about it. I would consider anything associated with Lancashire Utd merger suggestions to be the messageboard joke. Apparently though the discussion of takeovers in the takeover thread is far worse.
Silencio Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 It's not really a discussion where your concerned though is it? It's an obsession which makes you constantly post irrelevant, pointless and boring posts on the issue. If you toned it down a bit then maybe you'd get more sympathy. Sorry to be blunt with you mate...
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Arsenal Supporters Trust backing Kroenke investment. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ma...-kroenke-shares Fanzine insists Kroenke is Arsenal's best option. http://www.clubfanzine.com/arsenal/v2.showNews.php?id=19498

As nobody is interested in taking over the Rovers, do I assume you've switched your interest in takeovers to any club in the country?

As nobody is interested in taking over the Rovers, do I assume you've switched your interest in takeovers to any club in the country? Lighten up - when Philip posts the same type of articles, no one jumps on him. If you don't like Vinjay, put him on ignore. Thanks for the link, Vinjay. Kronke already has some London connections with the O2, right?

As nobody is interested in taking over the Rovers, do I assume you've switched your interest in takeovers to any club in the country? I see it as primarily related to BRFC takeovers but no reason why it shouldn't be extended to takeovers in general. Kroenke owns a NBA side I believe but I haven't read about the full extent of his interests.

Kronke already has some London connections with the O2, right? Not sure American, The O2 was owned by Quintain and an Australian company but they did announce they wanted to sell it earlier in the year. It is operated by another company - he might have something to do with them? AEG I think?
American Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Got him mixed up with Philip Anschutz, another major sports francise and sports venue owner in the US.
stuwilky Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Got him mixed up with Philip Anschutz, another major sports francise and sports venue owner in the US. And the chap Kroenke bought Colorado FC from.
Exiled in Toronto Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 As nobody is interested in taking over the Rovers, So almost everyone on this thread keeps saying, but I'm not sure that's true. Only last week we heard of a local consortium who were interested. Whether they have the means or will follow through remains to be seen, probably not. But the received wisdom from all the experts on here is that no-one would be interested, ever, at any price. If that was the case, why is the club up for sale, why are Rothschild's still involved and why did news of a potential local consortium break? As long as there are rich egomaniacs around, there will always be interest in the profile that owning a PL club brings. Except from the Trustees that is.

Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Birmingham City FC chairman blames takeover "disruptions" for 07/08 relegation. Maybe a little disrupting but sounds like a massive excuse to me. No surprise it's been timed to coincide with their recent promotion to deflect criticism from fans. http://www.birmingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/...le.asp?a=153633
Backroom DE. Posted May 5, 2009 Backroom Posted May 5, 2009 I think the fact they were rubbish for most of that season was a far larger factor than any takeover distractions.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Not very supportive of McLeish either blaming the loss of Bruce for their relegation. Of course there has been rumours of a rift between McLeish and Gold.
Backroom DE. Posted May 5, 2009 Backroom Posted May 5, 2009 The way they've treated McLeish has been disgraceful, really. Karen Brady using her column to mock his decisions is unbelievable.
