BiggusLaddus Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 If Chelsea cannot cover their losses of £80m a season and fold, then the end result is the same.

philipl Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I would rather the owners keep it at a fixed price rather than auction it. If the terms and conditions of a sale are in such depth (according to some self proclaimed financial experts on here) then apparently we have nothing to worry about in terms of who takes over. One thing's for sure it would take dreadfully bad luck to get worse owners. You really are an absolute cretin. That is the most stupid post even you have come out with.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Vinjay Sunderland and Everton set for take overs according to the Sunday papers but still nothing on Rovers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/default.stm
thenodrog Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The most annoying thing is the Glazers of this world put all the risk of failure on the club and would no doubt bail out, if things went pear-shaped, with their personal fortune intact. Ooooh yes please! It's just a money making venture for them. It's not like they are Manchester born and bred is it? If they were they'd have taken over City!
Rover4ever Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Just heard that Portsmouth have been taken over by a group headed by that City Bloke Sulaiman Fahim. Its supposedly his personal company so Portsmouth wont be as able to spend as liberally as City....... Still, it should be a step up from their present state....
andyroversmad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 the news about pompey, when will it be are turn http://www.arabianbusiness.com/556956-uae-...r-portsmouth-fc
EwoodGlory Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I remember him.... "I need to meet the manager but the best players in the world average £30million. We need a minimum of 18 players at that level."
andyroversmad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 bbc running the story http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...uth/8070535.stm
ben_the_beast Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 To say I'm annoyed is an understatement. They were on the verge of getting what they deserved next season for not running the club in a proper and sustainable way. Only for them to get bailed out. They will go and contribute to ruining the transfer market again as they did with West Ham a few you ago by paying over inflated wages and fees whilst other proper clubs such as Rovers conduct ourselves in a respectable and proper manner.
andyroversmad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Surely were a better investment than Pompey. How the hell have they managed to get a rich Arab owner and we cant find no one ?
patrickvalery Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 How the hell have they managed to get a rich Arab owner and we cant find no one ? Well probably the fact that they are city based. They don't have much competition, other than the fallen Southampton, within 100miles. Plus the fact their owner wants out very quickly. Which probably means he took a knock down price just to get rid. I'm not particularly worried. Its something we're all gonna have to get used to. I know i'm in the minority, but i'm staunchly proud of the fact we're a proper football club. Run properly, with minimal debt and a very proud history. This is just another large slice of dignity taken from our game.
Mr. E Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 It would be an offense to Jack Walker's memory if we allowed one of these soulless greedy oil tycoons who couldn't give a damn about football take over the club. I'd rather we play in the conference than with oil-money.

I'd rather we play in the conference than with oil-money. Money is money at the end of the day! We are holding on to the pack by our fingertips at the moment, we need investment it would be better if it was a local business man but its unlikely now a days!
nicko Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Best to point out that the wealthy Arab is the Saudi version of Simon Cowell who was going to buy Torres for Man City. And any time I see Bhoyrul's by-line I ring my solicitor.
BRFC1995 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 hopefully he follows the mike ashley model....glad i did'nt take 8-1 yesterday on pompey going down. I like to see the badly run teams get what they deserve and its a bit of a sickener they've got a reprieve before the firesale began. I'm a pretty bitter person and i'll add pompey to west ham and burnley as the teams i'd like to see relegated next season.
Ste B Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 And any time I see Bhoyrul's by-line I ring my solicitor. Wasnt he one of the City Slickers ? And I dont mean the Billly Crystal film
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 You can tell it's going to be a bad day when a completed takeover of a team that finished below us happens. Another team that got relegated let alone finished below us has it's takeover move a step closer and a team that we beat convincingly 2 nil before the end of the season that finished on the same points as us gets a big money offer accepted... We have been for sale now for well over 5 years (i think) and in that time, those 3 teams have been taken over twice (Sunderland), twice (Pompey) and once (Newcastle)... Sigh...

b12_simon Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 A wealthy owner is bad news for the Axe. He'll not be getting much first team football if Portsmouth can afford proper midfielders

joey_big_nose Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Clubs get money put in to em and don't do very well? Who'd have thought it? Yup- of the clubs with heavy investment only Chelsea have made a real fist of it. Spurs, Newcastle, Man City, Sunderland, Portsmouth (although they did win the FA cup), West Ham and even Villa have consistently failed to really break clear from the more humble likes of Wigan, Fulham and ourselves.

Well yeah but not even those clubs can afford players like Ballack, Cech, Drogba, Robbe, Shevchenko, etc. There is a limit where if you pump just so much unstoppable cash in the club, it will have it's word. It's the only reason a historically mid-table club like Chelsea have done so well. In fact, I'd say only we have lived up to expectations in the Prem after a solid financial push (which as big as it was for us was hardly the unmatched Abramovich-like spending spree some are making it to be). Which still irks a lot of people.

I think he may have struggled for a 1st team slot anyway, but now he'll be properly shafted. Poor sod.
Backroom DE. Posted May 28, 2009 Backroom Posted May 28, 2009 I imagine he'll have something like 20k a week or so to ease his pain.
