Maybe even win a trophy...like poor old much-maligned Souey somehow managed. ;)

Oh come along now nicko! Just because he's a Scot ;). Our incumbent Welsh chap has to my mind achieved more in keeping us up and making us a top 10 team for the last three seasons than Graeme ever did.

As for this Takeover stuff. I read last Sunday on here; a poster was shocked at the lack of interest on BRFCS when the story broke in The Sunday People. It's hardly surprising is it? Some fella we've never heard of (apart from his association with redundancies) and an unnamed consortium are apparently interested in buying the club from a bunch of people we never hear from let alone see at Ewood. This will no doubt lead to several weeks of positioning / mincing about between the two anonymous parties. After which the new owners will give Mark Hughes a few quid to spend - or maybe they won't. Or they'll be told to sling their hook.

BTW - I'd be interested in hearing the lengths the current Board are going to in order to sell the club. Is it in their interests? I read / hear the phrase "Is the new buyer a Rovers fan?" - more to the point "Are the current Directors / Board Rovers fans?" maybe they're getting nicely renumerated as it is? ( :o ! Oh how naive can you be bob!?)

The Trustees don't want to invest any more money - or time. That's a bit harsh isn't it? - Or is it? Isn't that what they have said to one and all - i.e "BRFC is up for sale"? They don't see the need in handing over the £3m that Jack Walker provisioned for every season. This at a time when even the promoted clubs will pay £5m for a crap player and we have a manager who has a knack of buying extremely well. Why can't they see that? Have they been told "Oi!! you're on a good thing here! Back the Manager!!"? Who has told them?

At a time when some people are investing in lower tier / newly promoted Premier League clubs and Derby County, aka speculating to accumulate, we appear to be slowly sinking from a comparative position of strength.

For me this has been a better season than last. Top 10 next year? It's not getting any easier is it? The message surely has to be to anyone who is listening - BACK THE MANAGER!!!

Finally nicko - What did I tell you about Andy Cole? Wright, Gazza, Waddle, Cole, Alan Mahon. They've all hit the heights and played for great clubs in their careers. It's nowt but t'elephants graveyard that place.

Don't think I've ever seen it mentioned: Who are the beneficiaries of the Trust? Is there a particular date at which it breaks up and the businesses have to be sold and money distributed?

COMING OUT OF A COMA, ONE PROMOTION, ONE TROPHY, TWO QUALIFICATIONS FOR EUROPE...YUP, TOTAL FAILURE... ;)

FIVE GOALS, TOO MANY GAMES MISSED WITH INJURY...HE DID OK, BURNLEY NEEDED MORE PLAYERS OF HIS QUALITY TO HELP. THAT WAS WHY THEY MISSED OUT.

the fact of the matter is that over the season they weren't good enough to even get into the play-off's of what has been commonly commented on as the weakest championship race in seasons ..... and before you say it nicko, just like we weren't good enough over the season to qualify for europe. difference is while they dream about bobbing around the championship we will hopefully be looking forward to another push for europe in the most exciting league in the world and long may the status-quo continue (not to be confused with status-quo continuing to rock all over the world!!!!!)

Burnley need four or five good additions this summer. I have faith in the manager to find them, we will see if they have the money to pay for them.

I suppose you could say the very same about Rovers.

I wanted BOTH to finish in the top six remember. It's not an either or job.

I won't be backing either for the top six next season until I see who they bring in.

In the meantime, all hail Dougie Freedman...at least the Leeds bet proved a good un.

hi all,

yeah sorry about the lack of punctuation I failed English at school and college 3 times and knew it was never meant to be but I'm sure if this new chap takes over rovers would do their homework and make sure the club was in safe hands as well as rothschild's and just because there is no information about this new owner and what his motives are does not mean anything is untoward or suspicious about the new owner but at the end of the day so long as certain things happen would welcome a takeover 1 they prove and show they have the dosh to buy the walker trustees out 2 they show and prove they will continually put money into the club that is there's and that they will continually back the manager and finally 3 as they are big in the sports world retail they should be able to give ideas/suggestions on how to get control of the club shop and improve it.

Laters all.

Try not writing "and". Every time you want to, stop. Put a full stop and start the next word with a capital letter. That way your posts will be easier for us to read. Obviously it doesn't work every time but it will help.

I'm a bit confused, you spelling and vocabulary are great, the language you use is spot on. What's so difficult about inserting some full stops and commas?

I was just about to write something very similar Joey. He obviously has most of the necessary knowledge, and COULD, with a little more care and concentration, be able to write perfectly legible and READABLE English that is as good as or better than a lot of posters on here. That is the key thing; make it READABLE.

Let's say the fans were asked to form a cooperative to match the (supposed) £10 million being made available to Hughes in the summer. Say 10,000 fans to contribute a grand each. I'm sure most people can lay their hands on £1000 for the good of Mark Hughes's transter kitty - raid the savings, new credit card, bank loan, loan shark, sell some assets - whatever.

But would any of the people who are so keen to slag off the Trustees for supposed "lack of investment" actually like to stand up and be counted in such a way?

It's OK until it's your own cash, or it's you having to make the monthly repayments on a loan.

tris surely "investing" includes buying season tickets ?£48 a month may not mean much to you but it does to me and no way could i afford another grand .

Maybe a hint, if you were reading that out loud, perhaps a full stop in your text where you might take a breath if you were reading it. That would help. Your honesty is refreshing. I don't claim to be a whizz at the grammar stuff either.

Personally i don't think it's a come and get me. I think it's a reminder to the current owners that he does need money to spend and in particular, if there's a player the management really think is worth it he needs to know that financially they'll back his judgement as with Souness and Andy Cole

Bazzansg, I suggest you file an official complaint against the audited accounts filed at Companies House. The authors of those reports took their numbers directly from the published accounts, not soccerbase.

Name the dozen clubs that have received more from their owners than Rovers have- I am talking about cash handed over no strings attached for the betterment of the club, not monies paid to exiting shareholders or paying off loans to facitate getting ownership.

I have named three and acknowledged two others when they were pointed out although I believe the money went in as loans rather than straight contributions.

Ummm, I wonder were spurs are getting there money from its not coming from there owners as you proclaim. So far with the 15 million capture of modric they have spent an astonishing 74 million this season. Which blows your earlier prediction that spurs have only spent 125 million in the last ten years, they have spnt well over that amount in the last 36 months

Over the past 2 and a half years they spent well-over 150 million on transfers.
