philipl Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 He's not overvalued anymore, teams will start bidding at 8 million, we won't get anywhere near the reported 20 million As I feared, it will be last summer all over again. City will tell the press they bid £12m and actually offer £6m+£2m. This is going to be one very long running soap opera until the release clause is reached.

Hughesy Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 If you don't know that then you don't know much. A fit RSC is a big danger to any centre half. If he were English he'd be just what Capello wants. Still if you really do know better than Arsene, Rafa, Arry and sparky then I take my hat off to you hughesy. I understand he is a good player (when fit), however with his injury & sulk record hes got to be classed as a risk. For Arsenal I cant see the attraction when they already have Arshavin, Adebayor, Van Persie & Walcott. Liverpool - surely for the money we are talking (£18m) it would a massive cash mountain for them to climb if they want their no1 target Silva & Barry too. Tottenham - I can see why City - I can see why, but I think if he goes their then he is foolish as City will dump Hughes and with all the other big names knocking around, Roque will fade.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I understand he is a good player (when fit), however with his injury & sulk record hes got to be classed as a risk. What sulk record is this? For Arsenal I cant see the attraction when they already have Arshavin, Adebayor, Van Persie & Walcott. Arshavin and Walcott play on the wing, Van Persie is always injured and when he is fit he plays the free role behind Adebayor and rarely plays as an out and out striker Liverpool - surely for the money we are talking (£18m) it would a massive cash mountain for them to climb if they want their no1 target Silva & Barry too. Barry will be on a free in the summer. Tottenham - I can see why City - I can see why, but I think if he goes their then he is foolish as City will dump Hughes and with all the other big names knocking around, Roque will fade. Roque has proven to be one of the best strikers in the premiership, we all know he has the quality and on his day he can give any striker a run for their money.
jonv Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 If we don't get money for him that can help in strengthening the squad then he isn't worth selling - unless the release clause is met. Simple. If Roque stays with us and gets fit again over the summer, he's as good as a spanking new signing. A proven one at that.
Eddie Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Proven to be injury prone. You can't have your "best" player be a sicknote.
blue phil Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 He's overvalued and his injury problems mean that he is unlikely to ever be fit for long periods of time in this league. I can't fully understand why anyone would be willing to spend huge amounts of money on him. I was surprised none of the big clubs didn't take a punt for him at the beginning of this season . He has undoubted all round quality and holds the ball up superbly . It sounds like Tevez might be off at the end of the season . Ronaldo might join him . Ferguson will have money to spend ; he could make a truly great player out of RSC .
broadsword Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Let him go. Forgot he played for us. He doesn't.

thenodrog Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 He's too slow for United's style of play, They'd have to stop and wait for him to catch up. Not sure about that. He's the ideal back to goal man that the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes, Tevez etc etc etc etc (to infinity) could feed off. Some matches MU are short of such a player. Rem too that he's quite easily had the better of Vidic every time they've played. As for Arsenal he'd likely replace the seemingly troublesome Bendtner if anybody.
jim mk2 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 . As for Arsenal he'd likely replace the seemingly troublesome Bendtner if anybody. Swapping Santa Cruz for Bendtner would be very good business for Rovers. Having trouble sleeping BTW ?
Bobby G Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Bendtner cant finish. He needs 5 to put away 1. At Arsenal he gets 5-6 chances created for him a match. Here we create 2-3. There is no way he is anywhere close to as good as Roque. Probably better skill and footwork, but not in holding up the ball or heading, or overall teamwork. Its good business for Arsenal. Not for us. Id rather someone else.
tony gale's mic Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 It's worth remembering when discussing Roque that we're talking about a striker in his late 20s who's had as many successful seasons at the top level as Michael Ricketts.

His finishing would improve through playing regularly which would be the case with Rovers. Look how Bentley and Robinson have improved through being first-team picks every week. Bendtner would be a very good acquisition for Rovers.
American Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Bendtner cant finish. He needs 5 to put away 1. Adabayor was the same way a few years back. If Bendtner stays with Arsenal, I'll be putting a cheeky fiver on him to be leading scorer. Once he gets his confidence in his finishing going, he'll be hard to stop.
den Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Good player Bendtner. He's improved a lot over the last season alone. More to come from him I reckon.
rover6 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Doesn't Bendtner lack a bit of pace? And, he has the ego the size of Denmark. That said, he would do well for Rovers but I'm quite sure that we would not be acceptable for him. In fact, I don't even know why I'm contemplating it!
blue phil Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Look how Bentley and Robinson have improved through being first-team picks every week. Aye - Robinson had a good game last week . .....and Bentley's really doing well at Spurs .
Inta Beaver Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 We are short at the moment on forwards, so has anyone seen Santa Cruz brother in the reserves? Is he here to keep his brother happy or can the boy play? Would he be worth a place on the bench and give him 10 mins at the end, could turn him into a hero! Or am I dreaming?

You're dreaming big style.
Shabani Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 his brother is either a bribe or a hostage. Im not sure which yet
T4E Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 He's too slow for United's style of play, They'd have to stop and wait for him to catch up. Is he slower than Berbatov?
Blue n White Rover Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Aye - Robinson had a good game last week . .....and Bentley's really doing well at Spurs . I think he meant at Rovers. Regular first team outings made Bentley one of the Premier Leagues hottest prospects, it's the reason Spurs bid £17million for him. I'd rather have Crouchy over Bendtner.
