[Archived] Roque Santa Cruz Thread

He'll always have injury problems. Let's sell him and bring in a striker we know can actually be fit for games.

Sparky kept RSC fit.

Clueless Ince could not and there are plenty of indications Roque was played whilst not fit.

Sam kept some chronically unfit players going at Bolton so probably has a masterplan for Roque for next season.

Hughes kept Santa Cruz fit for one season, if he had done it for more than one then I think there would be some weight to that argument, but if you look at his history he does have one or two virtually injury free seasons in amongst years completely destroyed by injuries.

I don't think anybody will now, we have to lower our asking price.

So Rovers are in control as the corrolary of that is no really big clubs will want him either.

We have no option but to plan for RSC being at Ewood next season with a contingency if he goes. This far that is effectively what we are hearing from the club.

Looks like Big Sam has had a word, then

Basically.............

Don't burn any bridges until we both get what we want. You may have to prove yourself all over again cock.

I'll tell you what RSC really should change his agent. The bloke must be a liability.

So who is going to pay £20m eddie?

Before 25 August preferably.

Well, I did say no one was going to pay even 15m to be honest. It depends on Sam's transfer targets. Three of the (very good) players we are looking at are on free transfer. Derbyshire should pay for Givet. So we need to pull in enough money to buy, probably, a new striker and midfielder. A lot comes down to how much those players will cost. If, for arguments sake, thats Janko and Fernandez then we probs need 12-15 million...

Roden Kept RSC fit.

Sam had far more Sports Scientists at Bolton, don't forget Roden and Howard shared the responsibilities for a while. Howard strenght and Roden speed and research. This department needs extra bodies next season he can't do it on his own. I know he had student with him this year but Derek will have gone back to Ireland now, and Lamby will be helping him but its a lot of work for two people a lot.

Sam won't play players unless there fit, something I'm grateful for Sam is considering the best option for the team Ince was only thinking about himself.

Sam's strenght at Bolton was his team hopefully we can allow him to assemble a similiarly strong backroom staff as he had at Notlob.

The interview from yesterday in Asuncion..

http://www.ultimahora.com/notas/224662-Pro...abla-del-futuro

Basic translation of it is:

He'll soon be rejoining the main squad for group training after a bit more one on one fitness work

He's not going to comment on his future to the Paraguayan press anymore as it's got him in trouble with the Rovers leadership last time he did due to problems with translation, what he said in Spanish aparently didn't match up to what he meant in English. So he's not gonna talk about it as for him at the minute he is a Rovers player so won't discuss further - He just wants to concentrate on getting fit and back to his best ASAP.

That was good practice before my Spanish exam in a couple of weeks :rover:

I don't think anyone will pay his wages - he is on a lot here apparently.

Depends what you class as "a lot". I would doubt its anywhere near what Spurs would pay him, they always pay ridiculas amounts.

Don't Spurs have quite a tight wage structure? I may have dreamt this - but I thought we offered Bentley more than Spurs could.

Curiously how did you learn spainish?? I have to be fluent in 2 months and need a good way to learn.

I don't get that he spoke to them in his native tongue and they mis-interpreted him or was it when it was translated back into english by the press over here??

Seems to be that the problem was translating it into English from what he said so I'd go with it being the English press getting a bit mixed up.

Doing my A-Levels at the minute, Spanish is one of them - I've heard night schools are pretty good for adults, they do them at my school but i'm not sure to what level they go to.

Just wondering, with regard the press release and video.

Did anyone get a photo of RSC after the WBA game, or maybe remember from the awards evening,(lenght of his hair) last time I saw it it was short, in the video his hair is hanging out from under his hat on the back of his neck.

Just trying to confirm it is dated as it says, and not the magic of the media again.

We currently pay RSC between £60-65k if reports are true. Sounds about right too!

I seriously hope not. He's had one good season and a long history of injuries, just not worth that IMO.

If that's true then nobody will match his wage, but that's not a problem because he isn't in this for the money.....or is he?

I think he's just getting cold feet after he realised that nobody is going to come in for him after 6 months injured.
