I believe the club doing the signing on pays the signing on fee if there is one. Ditto the agent's fee via the player for procuring the player for club A rather than club B.

It is not that unusual for players to coin it from both sides in the mad world we are in. Particularly if transfers are crossing borders.

In these days of 20k - 120k p.w. contracts, are signing on fees still relevant?

I didn't express myself properly above. What I meant was that if the buying club pay all the applicable agents fees etc when say we buy player X from Tiddlywinks United then the same applies to any Club buying RSC from us.

So after the deadline for the "clause" expiring and leaving aside any arrangements with the Bank, there should be no apparent reason why we couldn't buy a player on the same wages for a similar fee to RSC less 1-2m for agents fees etc.

In practice over the years that never seems to have happened and we sell a player for 15m and typically buy two or three inferior players for 7 or 8m combined etc.

Is it me or did Cruz seem very happy at Rovers up until the day his home was burgled and his wife threatened?

Has he not seen eye to eye with the managers since Hughes left? its strange,I just feel there's more to him wanting away than just wanting to play for a bigger club. <_<

I had reached a point were I was fed up with his want away comments but now I'm of the opinion that if he wants to stay he can do,and thats purely based upoon looking at our other meagre striker options.....wouldn't mind seeing him terrorise the Dingles defense either!

I can't see how living in the Manchester area and hankering for a move to a Manchester club is going to relieve the memories of the robbery. That is not the reason

When was that exactly SG?

I must say it crossed my mind a while back but bearing in mind he lives in Cheshire I can't see how it has that much relevance. Unless he was on about wanting to leave England altogether.

If he'd been burgled whilst living on the outskirts of Blackburn I can see how that might have seemed to him.

i think his want away comments where from the interest from other clubs and he got giddy like benni did and pedersen did, but with his most recent comment 'im happy at blackburn' i think hes realised that he was a fan favorite before his comments and wants to win us over again. i want him to stay, if he stays and keeps fit i think we will be like we where this time last year. we need his ability to put the ball in the net

Isn't his Dad his Agent?

Living in Asuncion, the moment Rovers went t*ts up with Incitis, the old man would have been inundated with why "your Roque" was playing for a side that was bad joke television every time it appeared on the local sports channel. Reasonable question when Paraguay are crushing rubbish teams full of Messis, Kakas, and other such non-entities in the race to 2010 qualification.

Kaka pere understandably didn't "get" what Garry Cooke gibbered Nike marketspeak at him and it is an open question as to how sophisticated the Santa Cruz scion is. I wouldn't be in the least surprised if some of Asuncion's finest Radio quotes haven't come from Roque's old man. Nothing has yet convinced me that Roque isn't a thoroughly decent man amongst footballers.

At least 30.

City are reported to be making good progress on signing Etoo and Tevez.

And Chelsea going after Ribery and Villa now is not going to leave any vacancies at English PL clubs needing to be filled.

Not a hope of 30. Think we cross our fingers and hope for 25, but realistically anything over 20 is a plus.

Well there is no real reason why he can't play as many next season as he did the season before last. He just needs to look after himself.

Rumours that Arsenal are only willing to splash out £8-10m for a striker and that they are now looking at Dzeko.

Think we can rule them out of the RSC race. Its looking more and more like Spurs move or nothing for him as City seem to have bigger targets.

Dzeko available for only 8- 10m ??Very unlikely..

Arsene is careful money user and he won´t pay even close our asking price for injury prone Roque. City will check bigger fishes first. They won´t get Eto'o even by money but Tevez is possible. Spurs will sell Bent and maybe Pavlyuchenko so they have money and need for top striker. Villa could be one club willing to buy him. They have some money and definitely need. Carew has problems with his back and Heskey can´t score. Agbonlahor-Santa Cruz could great duo. Then again, Roque has said he wants to live in Manchester. I strongly think he will be Rovers player next season.

Villa is a good shout - City are also apparently very interested in Carew (As a cheaper option to RSC).

Its looking more and more like RSC could be a Rover next season.

It's a win-win situation for Rovers providing he remains fit for the new season ahead. If we sell him, then that would allow us to strengthen in other areas of the pitch aswel as get a decent replacement in for him. If not, we still have a quality player, who is more than capable of getting us 15+ goals next season. I'd be more than happy if he stays with us, and I for one will be chanting his name if he is in the blue and white halves come August.
