dirty con - not sure of your source but we were well informed on here that we recieved several bids - all way below the amount City were reporting to the press (I.e. I think they reporting £12m, when infact the bid was £8m at that point) with their final offer up around the £18m on the final few days, in which they wanted to pay it over 3 installments.

Selling Roque would of sent out the wrong messages to the fans and players RE relegation, unless we had a top class replacement ready to sign on the dotted line...........

Jesus, I can't believe we're still having this debate.

Sam couldn't have known that Roque would pick up a bad injury and be out for the rest of the season. With relegation looking a real possibility, he could not sell his star striker who he undoubtedly envisaged scoring the goals that would keep us up. Nobody activated his release clause and City's only half respectable offer came in too late for him to bring in a replacement. You lot would have been the first to criticise had we got relegated in the wake of selling Roque and not replacing him.

Anyway, by the looks of it, City are still interested and the price being touted around is £15m, only a couple less than was being offered in January and still, IMO, well above his normal market value. It's still June. If it were August and he were still not sold, then I'd be a bit worried.

Not sure how accurate how this info is but it could really affect RSC situation here goes:

Tevez is a City player in all but name - they have a five year agreement in principle - fee expected to be around £29m. City expect to announce a formal verbal statement by Friday.

Samuel Eto'o - City have entered into an agreement of mutual understanding with both the player's solicitor and Barca. The solicitor is flying into London on Friday. Eto'o is awaiting to agree a loyalty payment of £1m loyalty payment due to him from Barca, as part of his contract to reward Champs success. Apparently they have agreed a £30m fee with Barca.

Also Johnson - City have offered Cash + Benjani in exchange.

I have heard the same from someone who is part of the legal team at City. They were in the process of putting the paperwork together at the end of last week.

They didn't mention RSC. Could it be they've bigger fish to fry??

Why would signing a right back affect a move for Roque?

It just might affect the size of their transfer kitty..? If they don't have an infinite amount of money, that is.

Sorry the 2 strikers are what effect the RSC move - the Johnson stuff was just extra info which is floating around.

and they didn't want to pay upfront. and according to some reports they did not bid that amount anyway. It's like groundhog day round here on this topic.

Speaking of groundhog day, most clubs pay in installments, as we would most likely for any replacement. We still sold Bentley, even though it wasn't all upfront.

Funny how City chuck money at all and sundry without a care yet behave like Scrooge with us! Parting shots and a few leftovers I'd imagine.

A long way to run with that one I think.

Heard today that Liverpool would take him at £17m, with £7m of that funded by writing off the debt still owed for the purchase of Crouch. I think Johnson will make the best move for him and not for the money. That would not be Chelsea. Liverpool have the attraction of CL football, but a rotation system. Man City have a quickly improving squad that he could be a key part of.

I did read that he is a Liverpool fan, but then again everyone seems to suddenly become a Liverpool fan when they are linked with them.

The only thing on offer at City is MONEY and MONEY alone, why on earth would any football fan think otherwise.

They have no European football so on that basis alone, they can only offer the same as the likes of Rovers, the 3 promoted clubs and all of the other Premier clubs who finished 7th downwards.

They are not favourites to win any of the two cups on offer and at best will compete for a top 7 placepot in the league.

For me, City will struggle to find their way to that top 7 because on the pitch they may have the players but off it is where they will struggle.

Too many busted egos, the likes of bellamy, robinhood, ireland, over strength squad with forwards like caciedo, bojinov, benjani, evans, jo plus the newbies such as Tevez, forlan, cruz et al. We are talking about a club with a possible front line up of a value totalling some £130m, there just isnt the football on offer to keep that lot happy no matter who the manager is and no matter what the cash on offer.

I am going to laugh my ar$e off when City win faff all again at the end of this coming season because by then, I would suspect City will have doshed around £250m on player transfer fees, have recouped around 20% of their outlay, have been knocked out of the cups by lesser teams and then struggle in the league placings.

God bless them, some City fans are great lads (and lasses) but some have gone way too far in their expectations and ambitions and a fall is coming.

Sounds like the deal is starting to happen and finally the saga is going to be decided one way or another.

If the deal goes ahead its going to be interesting to see how much Sam will get to spend from the sale and where he thinks it needs to be spent.

For him to have had a medical he would have had to have returned from holiday early and had permission from Rovers. Has Rovers had an offer i'm pretty sure the press would be tipped off to see if any other offers would come in.

Lets not forget there is only 2 weeks left until the Santa Clause expires, but then we would still probably sell him for £15m anyway.

Ah lets just hope it is as close as the media seem to think, would give us a nice amount of time to sort out replacements.

Times reporting that the club were locked in talks today over a £17m deal. Rovers are willing to take £17m, City want to pay £15m.

Looks like it may complete soon!! fingers crossed.

I will be very sad to see Santa go.

Will we ever see as good a striker again playing for the Rovers?

I doubt it.

Will be sad to see him go, because of how he played when he joined but he didnt show much loyalty and for that reason - i say good riddance.

He was a class player in his first season, but overall three things must be taken into perspective.

A) Did he prove himself in his second season, which many people consider harder than the first?

B) Do we want a player to play for us when they would much rather be elsewhere?

C) Do we trust Sam to use the 10 million pounds worth of transfer money which would surely become available to him wisely?

However, I believe he will score goals in an attacking team like City, but I also believe that he will have injury problems as he has always had. People rarely if ever have better careers away from our club.
