And So Say All of Us...

For he's a Paraguay fellow, for he's a Paraguay fellow, for he's a Paraguay fe-e-e-loooow

And nobody can deny......

It all turned out rather nicely, he took half a season off to get fit for City, we stayed up without him and now we get good money at the right time to spend on a target man.

Sickening reading some of the comments on this board. Roque always gave his best when he was on that field. He showed his quality when he first signed for us, and unluckily for him and us, he was injured most part of last season. There's nothing much you can do about knee injuries, people who have had this problem in the past will tell you that.

He IS a quality player and still has a good few season left in him. To wish that he gets injured is just sickening and heartless. :angry2:

All the best Roque, I hope you have a great few seasons ahead of you. I for one will be chanting his name in the Blackburn End come start of the season. He has never spoke ill about us and always said he loves playing here and is more than happy to see the remaining of his contract out if he can't get his move.

He has always been truthful to us, always applauded the fans when he plays and you could see the lad is always giving his best.

Give it a rest, and wish him the best.

Love to be wrong, but we would never get Crouch. Other, so called bigger and richer clubs would be in for him. We simply don't have the money and that is presuming he would ever want to come to Rovers...

From what the papers are saying, we'd have to pay almost all of what we spent for Roque to get Crouch (didn't Portsmouth put a 17 million price tag on him? Even factoring in the bluff amount, you're still talking 13 or so). At that price, no thanks.

Lancashire Telegraph reporting today that it's all done and duted, just his medical over the weekend () then he'll sign for City on Monday. £17m in total. £15m up front with the other £2m to follow (LT made it sound like the terms for this weren't too stringent).

CROUCH...didn't fancy coming in January, probably won't this time round either...massive wages [£75k a week] and silly fee...

JANKO...was being watched, think you can do better...

MISTER Y...the 'hunch' I had about a striker on the radar has not yet turned into an official approach...but I have a feeling it will do at some point...

nicko..do you know how much of the money sam allardyce will get to spend from the santa cruz and derbyshire sellings???

Big Sam - do you know how much of the money you'll get to spend from the santa cruz and derbyshire sellings???

as for peter crouch-please god no..id rather we went for kevin davies if that was the case..

I think he will get quite a lot of that cash. The Givet signing may bite into it a bit. But this means the heat is off selling Warnock - another point that needs to be pointed out.

I'm not sure how it will affect the threat of a wage bill cut. Only time will tell.

Getting so much money has to be good news financially.

Football-wise it depends who is brought in...and that is a big question right now.

Okay, we've just lost our best striker and a 'local boy done good', and yet everyone still seems quite bouyant.

I can't see this mood lasting unless we bring in someone of note - ideally a marquee signing (by our standards) - during the next couple of weeks.

It's going to be a long wait until Ancelloti decides Di Santo can go on loan - and if he decides he wants him to stay then what?

Let's hope Sam has already tied someone up before agreeing the RSC and Derbs deals...

Some people really hold grudges against some of our former players, don't they?

I'd like to thank Roque for two things

1) That first season where he showed us a Rovers player who oozed class and scored many wonderful goals.

2) Thank you so much for signing that new four year deal last August. Without it we would not have received so much money for your transfer.

Good luck Roque. All the best. But hope you have poor games against us.

I suppose you mean me Bazza? :)

You have to admit the radio interviews in Paraguay, where rovers couldn't stop them, did the clubs image no good whatsoever. They were totally unnecessary as well because he would have got the move without them.

Top quality player - no doubts about that at all. Why do players need to put down their old clubs though?

One of the reasons I like Savage so much and why I have nothing against Bellamy.

Duff, on the other hand, might not have said anything bad, but the disrespect he showed by kissing the Chelsea badge and dancing around like a mad man in front of the Rovers support at Ewood was disgraceful. I lost all respect for him that day.

As for Crouch, I know his wages are massive, as will be the transfer fee. It is more of a pipe dream. However, if he were to accept lesser terms, then we can't get much better to this club.

We lost our best striker early in the season - I stopped thinking of him as a Rovers player in January, it's just good to finally get the cash for him. It's like your Ferrari got written off and the insurance money finally came through.

Agreed on the marquee signing in the next couple of weeks, though I don't want Sam to go out and spend the majority of the money just for the sake of it. I've not seen Janko that much but if Nicko reckons we can do better than we should try to do better. Incidentally, one of the papers today reckons Barca will offer £20m plus Bojan for Mascherano, and value Bojan at £15m.

If that were to be believed, then that's a pretty poor offer.

Mascherano is one of the world's best defensive midfielders and cost Liverpool a bomb when they first bought him. In the current climate, you'd expect double that.

So we have cleared around £18 million from the sales of Roque and Derbs, surely the board should give Big Sam around £12 million?

Probably £6-8 million on a striker and £4 million for a decent midfield player?

I´d change RSC for Eto'o or Tevez in a sec. Roque is a very good player but doesn´t make City top4 club. With their funds I´d be disappointed too.

Different strokes mate, it simply doesn't work like that ........ RSC's presence would make both / either of those a more dangerous proposition and give City more options in attack and I'm sure that Mark Hughes knows it. Any team with just those two in would have to play 5-a side stuff with nothing ever above head height.

I doubt it, we still had the Carlos Villanuena money that had been put aside for his signing, and the £3 million pounds yearly money from the walker trusties? From what i have heard, the Givet signing was paid for regardless of the Roque signing.

Their might also be a couple more outgoings that will add to the pot..

What about Edin Džeko Nicko. He was talked up and linked to big clubs, but nothing has happened, think he would still be available..?
