Guest benmaxwell Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Man City want to play Tevez and Robinho wide of a central striker...Roque now rather than Eto'o or Forlan. 4-3-3. It would work. Wonder what that will leave Valeri Bojinov, Jô, Felipe Caicedo, Ched Evans, Benjani and Craig Bellamy thinking?

Blue n White Rover Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Sturridge going...leaving Bellamy, Caicedo, Benjani, Bojinov, Evans as cover or competition or cast-offs. Would Bellamy be happy with that though or would he look for a move elsewhere? As for Roque's replacement, is there anyone we are actively pursuing, or is there no timeline on this?
tcj_jones Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Sturridge going...leaving Bellamy, Caicedo, Benjani, Bojinov, Evans as cover or competition or cast-offs. Presuming they bring in Roque and Tevez and stop their striker spending there, I'd expect Bojinov and Benjani to be deemed surplus to requirements. I reckon they'll keep Bellamy and Evans though. Not sure on Caicedo. They definitely need more than one player who can play up top on his own and have players feed off him, but he isn't really the class of player they're after. Roque, Robinho, Tevez, Bellamy, Evans. If Roque were to get injured again, I think they might struggle for height and lack a player with the ability to hold the ball up.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Sky Sources now reporting that Chelsea and Man City are in for Carlos Tevez? How can City be in for both Cruz and Tevez with the strikers they already have... I have a very bad feeling about this.. Have you seen how much coin they have these days!....Tevez for 25 Million state the press
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Have you seen how much coin they have these days!....Tevez for 25 Million state the press As you well know, i didn't mean that in monetary terms. I meant in terms of keeping players happy playing the best years of their career on the bench. Was some rumour that Sam was interested in Felipe Caicedo in January. Wonder if he could be interested in him still. Doubt it though...
nicko Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Would Bellamy be happy with that though or would he look for a move elsewhere? As for Roque's replacement, is there anyone we are actively pursuing, or is there no timeline on this? Is Bellamy ever happy? Mister Y will be named in Sunday People tomorrow. No PMs please. It won't be a major surprise, but he is deffo the first choice. He is as well as Mister X aka Franco Di Santo.
sambo Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Didn't know there was a Mister Y, I am a bit giddy now!!!
nicko Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Didn't know there was a Mister Y, I am a bit giddy now!!! Mister Y was a hunch I had a couple of weeks ago...checked yesterday and found out there had been no contact with the club involved...but found out today he is deffo first choice. Leave it at that for now. Can't promise an 11 o'clocker because I'm still on Eastern Time and with a head full of handbags.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Nicko. Just tell us one thing for all our santities. He doesn't play for Newcastle does he? Mr Y...
nicko Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Nicko. Just tell us one thing for all our santities. He doesn't play for Newcastle does he? Mr Y... No. Only clue getting an answer.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 No. Only clue getting an answer. "oh happy days!!" My money is solidly on Janko.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I got criticised a lot for saying this when he was knocking in goals for fun, but I still don't think he is a natural finisher, or all that good of one. He can head the ball well, but he doesn't look that comfortable slotting the ball home a lot of the time. A very good player obviously and one who I am pleased that we signed and played for us, but I wouldn't put him above Bellamy or Benni when they had their great seasons and he fell away from that even more drastically than those two as well. He's replaceable, it won't be easy, but it is certainly possible. I agree with most of that Eddie. He was never good at one on ones with the goalkeeper for instance. Only average pace especially for a striker. Held the ball up well and brought other people into the play nicely. Not a combative , aggressive player like Shearer or Sutton. On the other hand rarely in trouble with the officials so hardly ever suspended. Behind= Shearer Sutton Jansen Bellamy In my eyes on a par with= Benni Andy Cole Kevin Gallagher Mike Newall
Backroom Tom Posted June 20, 2009 Backroom Posted June 20, 2009 I'm preparing to be disapointed when Mr Y turn our to be Mr Why o why do we want Nicola Zigic
tonyoz Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I'm preparing to be disapointed when Mr Y turn our to be Mr Why o why do we want Nicola Zigic You mean Mr Y is really Mr Z? Jeeeeeez.
imy9 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Out of interest Zigic has scored 13 league goals in 19 apps this season in the Spanish top flight, would not be a bad signing in my eyes as a lone striker. http://www.goal.com/en/news/15/germany/200...rg-radar-report

If we can get Di Santo on loan then we should look at bringing in a pacey, skillful striker with part of the Roque money.
den Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Not Zigic again? Give me strength. How's about we look for footballers, eh?
The Rover of Finland Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Quite obvious Nicko means Janko or Zigic. Never seen Janko and Zigic only few times. I´d rather go for Bent.
modes98 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 That makes sense, I long for some pace in the team! I would love some pace, it is what we have been crying out for since Bellamy left. The problem is pace costs a lot of money.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I would love some pace, it is what we have been crying out for since Bellamy left. The problem is pace costs a lot of money. If Sam wanted Bent, we could get him for around about the same price as Zigic and Janko. Zigic is going to cost the paying team something like £7 million, Janko about £6 million and Bent about £7 million. In order of preference, for me it would be: - Bent - Janko - Zigic
modes98 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 If that's right then I would snap their hands off. I would have thought they would want £10m for him. A cracking talent and proven PL goal scoring pedigree for a relatively low amount of money.
John Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Sunderland are being heavily linked with Bent. If true, we have no chance...

I believe his contract is running out soon as well. I know it was reported in January that we were looking at him and he wasn't interested, but if all this talk about Arsenal and some other clubs is just his agent trying to drum up some publicity in order to engineer a move and they aren't really interested then a decent offer could perhaps get a deal done. What's the harm is trying?
