American Rover12 Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Personally I would prefer him in my team to Berbatov - maybe can't produce that special moment that Bertbatov can - but is a far better team player, who will probably score as many goals and give better consistency of performance. Ya know, I'm with ya on this one. My ManUre supporting front runner of a mate was so happy that they got Berba and I said to him, "You know Santa did better last year than Berba right?" He tried to argue that he didn't till I showed him the numbers and then he was ######. RSC is still extremely underrated.

old darwen blue Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 And that man might be sniffing around us again http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle4895146.ece
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Sadly, it will take a miracle for RSC to be still with Rovers on 1 February 2009- either that or a global recession which cuts the balls off at least two clubs who are making him their number one target.
Jackson Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 He's an intelligent guy. I'm hoping that the "Bentley predicament" might stop a move.
Hughesy Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 If City want him, then £30m will cover it!! Otherwise no thanks.
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Good news, Roque not going to join up with Paraguay. Bad news, Roque probably out of Rovers' next two games as well. Although Sky's first version of this story has Rovers playing Bolton followed by a game against Blackburn- I kid you not.
den Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Well, that wont be a problem if he's missing rovers games will it. My second priority for the last transfer window was a striker, but I got short shrift and was told we have plenty of strikers, in particular, Roberts, McCarthy, Derbyshire then added Carlos. What worth a striker now, if Rocky's out?
Claytons Left Boot Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Although Sky's first version of this story has Rovers playing Bolton followed by a game against Blackburn- I kid you not. Well, I reckon we'll get a draw at Bolton and then beat Blackburn comfortably. I mean, they'll let us won't they?

My second priority for the last transfer window was a striker, but I got short shrift and was told we have plenty of strikers, in particular, Roberts, McCarthy, Derbyshire then added Carlos. What worth a striker now, if Rocky's out? Well, we have got strikers...........but there aren't many strikers anywhere capable of replacing Rocky adequately. And certainly not many in our price range. Ince must reckon that he can get McCarthy into condition - or why didn't he just get rid? Roberts can do a job against certain oppositions (not that I am a fan of his). Derbyshire and Carlos have to stand up and be counted.........and I still think Robbie might play a part. It's not perfect but we've been in much worse positions.
Hughesy Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Lets see if he makes a speedier recovery than 3 weeks eh!
American Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I think Benni plays better without RSC if Ince wants to go with 2 strikers. If he keeps with a 5 man midfield, Roberts is no RSC, but he's a serviceable injury replacement.
joey_big_nose Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 McCarthy needs someone to do the running for him. If Roque is out, we should be okay providing Roberts and Benni are fit. Or we could play Roberts and Carlos. Either of those combinations should work well.
Hughesy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Benni & Carlos if RSC is out. They are both clever and creative and would no doubt create chances between them.
joey_big_nose Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Benni & Carlos if RSC is out. They are both clever and creative and would no doubt create chances between them. Personally I cannot see that happening. I think they would get in each others way and the complete lack of power and pace would just mean the opposition defense would move up to the half way line and twiddle their thumbs because we would not be able to get behind them. If Cruz is out I'm pretty sure Roberts will play with one out of Carlos/Benni/Derbs/Fowler.
philipl Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but Roque issues a come and get me to Mark Hughes. Hopefully, ADUG will go for a more glamorous striker but I fear we will lose RSC in the coming January window.
Billy Castell Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (Please do not use that word again) him if he goes. We'll get someone better. I do demand we ask for £20m+ though. If Berbatov is worth £30m, then we should not be bullied for a fee far less than that, if not equal.
JAL Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but Roque issues a come and get me to Mark Hughes. Hopefully, ADUG will go for a more glamorous striker but I fear we will lose RSC in the coming January window. Rumour hear in Blackburn was that if Roque signed his new deal in the summer then he'd be allowed to move in january, totally disgusted with the club if this turns out to be the case and then to add insult to injury Fowler has his contract extended for me would signal Rovers heading completely the wrong way.
Mike Graham Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I can't believe that any Rovers fan expected Roque to stay very long. This has been all about getting the biggest buck we can for the lad, and his new contract meant extra value, with Roque getting a increased £££ from a bigger transfer fee. I don't like it but this was obvious. Another nail in Rovers coffin....who else will the fans turn out to see: Keith Andrews or Robbie Fowler? We will have no class apart from that Chilean bloke.
Billy Castell Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Right, we should have £20m or more to spend should this all happen. Who would we get? Or could Benni get fit and back to his 1st season form with more games?

Well, if we sell then presumably we'll also buy. Wait and see. No point in getting suicidal about it yet or ever for that matter. We've survived before. we'll cope without him. don't want him to go but he will and we'll go on.
Manc Rover Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Right, we should have £20m or more to spend should this all happen. Who would we get? Or could Benni get fit and back to his 1st season form with more games? I somehow doubt we will have £20M to spend. Not as if the Bentley money etc has been spent on players has it. I think the money would be used primarily to stabelise the club in all this financial downturn and probably sign some sub-standard centre forward as a replacement.

Bennisfromheaven Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 We must be shelling out at least 10 million for a replacement & not stop there either. After the bentley sale, sparky compo, the 10 million supposedly available to hughes this summer & the 3 mill top up from the trust I am hoping for a couple of big signing in jan. Not necessarily fancy names but players that will get us excited for the future i.e. banton & eccelstone. I know we cannot bring in a new squad in january but i want to see the basis of a plan which will be executed over the next few years.
Billy Castell Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Re Den: Well then we can say hello to relegation if that happened. Unless there is another RSC waiting to be revived, we'd need to spend a fair amount to replace him. We couldn't rely on Benni regaining his form from the 1st season.
CrazyIvan Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I'll believe it when I see it, until then he's a Rovers player. It's one of these reports that appears from nowhere, there's no source saying when or where Roque is supposed to have said this apart from a radio station interview and we all know how translated stories can be twisted.
