tonyoz Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 To be fair we had an amazing start to last season which lasted until the start of November. From then until about Febuary we were awful! Every side has ups and downs in form. You could take the middle third of last season and say we were terrible.... I always said we can only first judge Ince after eight and personally I feel Ince has jumped the first hurdle in guiding the team decently so far (hence why we are in mid table). So no need to panic. In the longer term (the next 20 games or so) he needs to build on that, and if he negotiates that competantly he should get the rest of the season to find his feet and create a team, and he needs the fans backing for that. A divided support only hurts things as has been seen at Newcastle, Spurs etc. I am not sure I can think of any manager who has just taken on a team in the Prem with relatively small resources (Pardew/Dowie/Small Sam) doing much better than Ince right now. Even Bruce who is doing a fantastic job at Wigan needed six months to get the ball rolling. And a number of managers who have recently taken clubs with vast resources (or at least more money at Fulham) are actually doing worse than Ince (Hughes, Ramos, Hodgson). Give him a bit of a break! Yes i agree. I just wonder - what would have been an acceptable points return if our new manager had been.... Laudrup? ten Cate? BFS?

A very fair assessment.
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Harewood!?!? HAHAHAHAHA Absolutely no chance this 'crap' deal will happen.
American Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Rubbish! In one bloody game only! Everton away. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/bla...ults/2007-2008/ Anyway EiT started it. Wow, resorting to "he started it, mom!!"
ABBEY Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 harewood bloody hell* bring blake back. *is bloody hell too strong for me or does that push me to 100% warning?
OJRovers Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 If Villa offered to take Fowler off our hands as well...then just maybe
RevidgeBlue Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 That's just ridiculous. AV can have him for a. £30m b. £33m and Marlon Silly really. My thoughts as well.
AndyC Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 i just don't believe anything i see in the tabloids anymore. Bad or good!
gumboots Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 i just don't believe anything i see in the tabloids anymore. Bad or good! Well, you can believe they might try it. Believing we might consider it is a different matter.
Al Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Well, you can believe they might try it. Believing we might consider it is a different matter. We signed Fowler! Who's to say Ince might not have a 'feeling' about Harewood.
BuckyRover Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 We signed Fowler! Who's to say Ince might not have a 'feeling' about Harewood. Like O'Neill did you mean? Beat him with that stick, not Ince
Al Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Like O'Neill did you mean? Beat him with that stick, not Ince O'Neill didn't sign Fowler!
Billy Castell Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Harewood? Good lord no! O'Neill must be having a laugh.
krislu Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 You can all scream "rubbish", "no way", "ridiculous"...but if villa comes in with a decent offer around £15m + player then Roque is as good as gone.
RovertheHill Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 MARLON HAREWOOD?!?!? He's like Jason Roberts but without the skill...
dingles staying down 4ever Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Has the bargaining started? Or is he really warning off Villa? Incettes/Anti-Incers you decide http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_4372950,00.html
Hughesy Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Blackburn manager Paul Ince has said Aston Villa cannot afford striker Roque Santa Cruz and that the 27-year-old striker will not be going anywhere in January. (Daily Star) He basically said that he's not for sale, Villa couldnt afford him, he isnt interested in City and that wont change unless Roque changes his mind.

I think we know they can afford virtually anyone but that Lernar prefers to keep his hand on his ha'penny.
Hughesy Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 With Ince saying that - I dont believe for one minute that there is only an £18m clause on his head. Surely if there is one, it must be much, much more.
philipl Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Wierd statement by Ince - it is complete ###### saying Lerner cannot afford to buy RSC unless he is thinking of putting a £2bn price tag on him. At £6bn he would price out Chelsea as well and at £60bn, Man City would blink.
Billy Castell Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 At least Ince is not saying "Oh well, every player has his price" and other such stuff. If Roque does go, we must fight and get the best price, and not just give up because club X is 'bigger'. We are not in this business to do favours for other clubs.
Amo Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Can you really blame Ince for calling their bluff? Every player has their price, and if Villa bid over £18m we all know JW & the board will seriously consider it.
