Bobby G Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Pointless to risk him in a zero pointer. Get him back for the League Cup game with Sunderland and the PL game as well.

thenodrog Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I wonder if this plethora of niggling injuries is anything to do with the approaching transfer window in some cases?
AggyBlue Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I wonder if this plethora of niggling injuries is anything to do with the approaching transfer window in some cases? Why, because they love the Rovers so much and they know they can't be sold whilst injured
dingles staying down 4ever Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I wonder if this plethora of niggling injuries is anything to do with the approaching transfer window in some cases? Or is it the fact that they don't want to be associated with a struggling team. It is beginning to remind me more and more of the 1999 season when our superstars were 'injured' for most of the season.
Bennisfromheaven Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The gathering injury list does concern me. This is key to clubs like ours to succeed & why Mark Hughes was able to achieve the results on limited resources. In my opinion we should be spending money on the medical & fitness staff rather than trying to get the next superstar
tchocky Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 We only got 19 games out of Bellamy but generally I agree with what you're saying there. We did? Soccerbase says 32.
bellamy11 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 We did? Soccerbase says 32. Yeah I think if anything he was closer to 19 goals. 19 games seems very low, just going off memory.
RevidgeBlue Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 We did? Soccerbase says 32. Nineteen starts anyhow as I recall, not sure about substitute appearances. Thirteen League goals in nineteen games was my recollection as to his stats.
modes98 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Nineteen starts anyhow as I recall, not sure about substitute appearances. Thirteen League goals in nineteen games was my recollection as to his stats. Stats League: 22 starts (+ 5 subs) 13 goals Fa Cup: 1 start 2 goals League Cup: 3 starts (+ 1 sub) 2 goals Reported the same on his West Ham player profile.

If they played, we probably wouldn't be struggling so it's a chicken and egg situation. I think we'r just being unlucky and all the injuries we probably should have had are coming together like buses

'If Ince had a settled side' etc. There is an uncanny resemblence.
Hughesy Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 We are getting more injuries because we are short of numbers and players have been rushing themselves back. They need to start taking the right amount of rest if Injured. Once the Chelsea game is out of the way, we have abit of time to get a run going pre-january sales. We will be fine, trust me.

Now why do I hesitate and immediately become suspicious when people say 'trust me'?
LeChuck Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 We are getting more injuries because we are short of numbers and players have been rushing themselves back. They need to start taking the right amount of rest if Injured. But we're not really that short on numbers. Defenders: Simpson, Ooijer, Nelsen, Samba, Zurab, Olsson, Warnock Midfielders: Emerton, Reid, Dunn, Vogel, Mokoena, Tugay, Grella, Andrews, Pedersen, Treacy Strikers: Derbyshire, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Roberts, Fowler That's a pretty hefty squad to be honest, and doesn't even allow for the overlap of players in to different positions (e.g. Warnock, Emerton, Derbyshire). The only person who seems to be rushing himself back is Grella, and possibly Santa Cruz although he seems to have had his problem for a while.

Again memories of 1999, Flitcroft and McKinley being rushed back to cover the sale of Sherwood only to break down and lose them for even longer.

Another arguement is the lack of quality we have, particular in midfield. Keepers - Good Defence - Quite Good Midfield - Reid & Dunn injured, Grella picking up knocks every game, Pedersen & Treacy out of form, Mokoena & Vogel unwanted. That really leaves Emerton (now also injured), Tugay & Andrews. And also Villanueva who is still learning. Strikers - RSC Injured, Fowler unwanted (by the fans), Derbsyhire not ready to play week in-week out as a main striker. We really need Benni & Roberts to hit form together and could also do with MGP hitting at least 80%.

They don't have to be Ince's buddies, and he doesn't have to think they are world beaters; if necessary he could move them on when some of the injured players come back. Many people think management is about getting the best out of your current hand.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The Guardian is at it again today- in a long article about City and Hughes they say -" Jo meanwhile is likely to be marginalised if the club manage to bring in Roque Santa Cruz. City will offer Blackburn Rovers in excess of £15 million or use Vassell and Onuoha in a possible part exchange. Blackburn do not want to sell but the money will be hard to turn down and Santa Cruz wants it to happen". Will £15 million cover the cost of a season or two in the championship ?
Hughesy Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 It wont happen for £15m. Il ask the geezer himself on thursday and see how he reacts, hopefully he will be genuine, he seemed that way in summer and then signed a new contract. Hopefully the smart move of bringing his brother here will help us.
