92er Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Why Thursday by the way Hughesy? At 6:00 PM he is at the club shop signing autographs etc.
Bobby G Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Oh interesting. I doubt he will divulge anything away...I think it will depend if the club accept a bid or not...
vintageadidas Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Maybe we were lucky with RSC in the first season (injury wise). If they offered £18m and anoahu (sp) i would accept. That surely would give us £25m to spend. I would only sell in the summer though. Once we had secured premier league status for another season. There are still bargains to be had out there.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 For that sort of dosh I'd sell, the problem is I've absolutely no faith in Ince and co spending the money wisely.
Amo Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 For that sort of dosh I'd sell, the problem is I've absolutely no faith in Ince and co spending the money wisely. We'd have enough for the MK Dons squad and JW would save the rest for the shareholders' party.
imy9 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 We'd have enough for the MK Dons squad and JW would save the rest for the shareholders' party. Agree, PI has purchased most of the MK Dons squad (actually only one player, their captain for £750k) and its not like a certain Welsh manager tried to bring half of Wales with him to Rovers
den Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Maybe we were lucky with RSC in the first season (injury wise). If they offered £18m and anoahu (sp) i would accept. We could play the £18m at centre forward, along with the £17m at right wing, - in the championship.

CrazyIvan Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 You can't even take a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour now without resorting to 'weave my wincey alone!' Bit of pot calling here...
tony gale's mic Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Agree, PI has purchased most of the MK Dons squad (actually only one player, their captain for £750k) and its not like a certain Welsh manager tried to bring half of Wales with him to Rovers There's a difference between bringing Premier League international players (such as Bellamy) and League Two players.
Hughesy Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Hughes wanted Koumas too, aswell as Hartson. Neither of which id of been impressed with. For the money paid for him, Andrews looks a good signing. Already gained us a vital point at West Brom.
broadsword Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 We'd have enough for the MK Dons squad and JW would save the rest for the shareholders' party. although I doubt we'd have enough for the whole MK Dons squad, maybe just another 3 or 4 players for 10 million.
Presty On Tour Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Agree, PI has purchased most of the MK Dons squad (actually only one player, their captain for £750k) and its not like a certain Welsh manager tried to bring half of Wales with him to Rovers A 28 year old league 2 player compared with Bellamy, cemented premier league player and international who was just simply brilliant for us until he (Please don't use that word again)ed us off and Savage who gave everything he had for the club and was loved by us, hated by everyone else and someone when he was in his prime could do with in the middle of the park right now. Not forgetting Brown, a reserve keeper who's first duty in a rovers shirt was to save a penalty where after we went on to win the game. Those Welsh players certainly helped punch above our weight and gain european qualification, while with Andrews so far is sending us to the canvass and into the championship.
47er Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 For that sort of dosh I'd sell, the problem is I've absolutely no faith in Ince and co spending the money wisely. That's my problem too. We cannot afford to waste a quid both in terms of finance and of survival.
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Good bloke, saw him down at ewood today with around 4-500 others. Happy to sign and have photos taken.
SamTheShrew Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 should we be worried? Ok, I was always going to be worried anyway this january about roque leaving, but i wonder what credibility there is to this story. We need wins more than ever right now. I personally feel we have gone way backwards already this season, and to lose roque would send us back that much further. more worries right now
Hughesy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Roque Santa Cruz is keen to leave Blackburn and accept an offer to join his former Rovers boss Mark Hughes at Manchester City in January. City could pay up to four times the £4.5m Rovers paid Bayern Munich for the Paraguay striker in the summer of 2007. (The Guardian) Where do they get that from? Any quotes from the player or his agent? No didnt think so!
CrazyIvan Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 That was the first thing I looked for in the article, actual quotes from anyone at all and there were none. It's bad enough reading 'filtered' quotes that support the article but don't tell the whole story but none whatsoever is reason to doubt.
bubblerrovers Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 If we sell RSC we'll go down simple as that. The board can't allow this too happen, whats the point of 20 million if we get relegated.
philipl Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I suggested a while ago that RSC is as good as gone. We had better win all the games between now and January and pray for the best.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I suggested a while ago that RSC is as good as gone. We had better win all the games between now and January and pray for the best. And what concrete information is your view based on philip? The same as the Guardian's which is probably around the fact that half the editorial team are City fans? With Rovers in their current predicament there is no way we should let Santa Cruz leave. He will still be worth the same at the end of the season.

That's the cryptic number in the Guardian article.
Tris Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Nicko got thoroughly de-bunked when he suggested a release clause. What does four times £4.5m equal? That's the cryptic number in the Guardian article. It's all irrelevant if the player himself doesn't want to leave. Which I believe is the case (and that's not based on Hughesy's chat with him last week either).
