dingles staying down 4ever
"Manchester City will begin an anticipated ?250million spending spree by signing Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz." Yeah, i'd probably just about accept that offer. I'd accept that if they throw in Macah Richards as well

dingles staying down 4ever
Most likely Nedum Onuoha, rather than Richards. If they are only bidding £250 million I'd expect better than a reserve in the deal

Blue blood
He was certainly disappointing again today. It's hard to tell whether it's because he isn't fully fit, is getting shocking service or wanting to save himself for his next club. I suspect it's probably all three, but even factoring in a lack of service today he was very quiet and somehow missed the one chance he had which was harder to miss than score. bazza
I've just dug this out from 1st August 2007. Worth another read. Actually the writer could be talking about the Rovers rather than Bayern Munich. http://football.guardian.co.uk/continental...2063637,00.html Was talking to a guy at work (Everton fan) who was home from his posting in Oman for Xmas. He showed me a photo on his mobile of him ... and a certain Mr. R. Santa Cruz. Oman played Paraguay at then end of November in a friendly, and the guy was staying at the same hotel as the Paraguay team. He was chatting briefly to Roque and said that Everton could do with a striker and jokingly that Roque would fit the bill nicely. Roque laughed and said it wasn't possible as he was signing for Man City or Aston Villa in January ....
philipl
City simpering like little kids over the RSC price. City of course played the dirty by saying they bid £12m when they actually only offered £8m during the summer. City simpering like little kids over the RSC price. tony gale's mic
Fact is that if we can get some good service upto him and get him back to form, then he remains our best chance of staying up. Maybe even more so than the new manager himself, although he's gonna have to play a big part in the above.
philipl
I agree tgm. Roque- the lads have lost confidence.
Bobby G
End of the year meaning end of 2008 or end of the season? I think the former... I would be shocked if he stays to be honest and with it looking likely that Man City will lose their primary midfield target in Diarra to Real Madrid, it would be interesting what happens with them and Roque. Couple more defeats and Hughes could lose his job too...

Bobby G
Ill take 20 million for him now if the board allocate the money for transfers immediately or at least half the money in January and half kept in reserve.

philipl
This seems to be the universal reaction this morning Oops no its not- just seen the Sun's contrarian position. BFS will cash in on RSC to up his transfer budget. Let's see what the Press Conference brings out.
dingles staying down 4ever
Personally I think that this decision is out of Rovers' hands. If someon bids enough to activate the 'Get Out Clause' he'll be gone. If no one does then he'll be here until the end of season at least.
Rover4ever
What i am glad about is that the clause is at 18m, and not at 6 or 7m, like it was with Bellamy, even though both were equally effective for us. Any chance we can get Bellamy back from W\ham?
tchocky
If Hughes gets sacked the chance of him staying will be quadrupled
T4E
I can't make my mind up on RSC, I start to think we should sell him because he's obviously not performing as he was, but now I'm intrigued as to what Sam can get out of him. At this moment in time I'd like him to stay - perhaps we could offer to lower his clause price slightly if he stays until the Summer, then he can make his mind up. If Sam can get him going and find him a partner that could keep us.
Hughesy
This is what sam had to say when probed after the conference with sky Time will tell whether Manchester City's offer for Roque Santa Cruz is too good to refuse but Allardyce did not even wait for the question of his departure, enough to finance perhaps four new players, to be concluded. "No," he growled. "Where are the players who can replace the quality of the players at this club already who have Premier League experience? Sell... your best players, particularly one of your leading goalscorers? It is not the case whatsoever." THATS MORE LIKE IT! Selling your best players is not for Sam
