The way Dunn and Allardyce have spoken suggests it is better for Blackburn IF we sell him at the 18-20 million range, and thats what they are trying to do, to get City to go that high...Dunn clearly suggests that at the former price range, it would be in our interest to sell, as the money is alot.

However, at 10-12 million, it wont happen...

Would City be prepared to pay it? Probably as long as Hughes is at the helm. Otherwise, Santa Cruz will remain at this club for a while yet. No one will rate him at that bracket. I am sure...

From SSN website

Santa Cruz is joining City according to a source close to the player.

Liam Hocking (Manchester City fan) says...

My uncle is the gardener for Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz and he has told my uncle that he is to move to Man City! Don't know the fee yet but Roque is in favour of a switch to be paired once again with Mark Hughes.

Must admit i like reading them when i need a laugh, take no notice.Cr*p like this gets posted on a daily basis.

My take on it is if somebody puts a decent bid in we should sell,as long as the money goes to Sam for getting a couple of quality players that will improve the first team.

I have never been one for putting players names on the back of my shirts and stuff like that.I have always supported the TEAM as a whole rather than individual players, more so in the last few years, given that players careers at clubs like ours are getting shorter.

Every player has a shelf life and a price and once we start talking silly money and players heads have been turned, then it`s time to cash in and get a suitable replacement.

I think RSC`s head has been turned by City and if thats the case then it`s time to sell.

Problem is we do not know if it will be in our interest and only time will answer that one.

Basically

1. We have an uphill struggle to survive now and RSC is one of our best and most effective players. Can we afford to gamble by selling him?

2. We need players in a number of positions can we afford NOT to raise the money selling RSC would provide to buy them?

3. If the second half of RSC's season is as unproductive as the first half again could we afford not to cash in?

4. I've a feeling that at last the stupid valuations of players, placed on them despite Bosman and Freedom of contract is about to be blown to smithereens. As a selling club could this be our last chance to cash in?

Sam Allardyce has the future of our club in his hands. I've a feeling that he will now have to earn his corn like never before!

Citys Bluemoon fans forum makes interesting reading slagging off our Sam but says nothing definate about a move..The Manchester Evening News claim Santa has a get out clause on offers over 18m Euros.Theres mixed feelings about Santa on their Forum..Basically without Bentley many think hes not so good and with Petrov out some question if he will get the service he needs..Some think 17m(the figure they believe will be offered) could be better spent .Others are dead keen.. Do Chairman and Managers ever take notice of Fans Forums I wonder..

Sorry, I accidently posted this on the wrong topic:

I have to admit, I'd be very tempted to sell Roque this January. Take Man City out of the equation and I doubt that he would command anything more than about £8 - 10m at 27 and after a stuttering second season in England. By the end of the season, Hughes could be out of a job and the City link will be gone. Sell in January and we could just about name our price. The money would help should we go down or would give Sam the money to strengthen other areas of the team.

Roque is a fantastic player, but he has been pretty poor this season. Although he's been playing in a terrible side, his heart hasn't seemed in it and several times he's missed chances that he would have buried last season. I reckon we'd be better off with the money tbh.

Reading what he said in the interview, why would he want to goto Citeh??

They are struggling as much as we are. They don't appear to have anyway out, while we have a lifeline with Sam.

With all due respect I doubt if he is in the class that Chelsea or United would want. Liverpool have better strikers. So what would be the advantage to him??

The Dingles may take him if they could stump up the cash!!! hahaha

Dear Santa,

This year I have been very good.

I have cleaned my room and listened to mummy and daddy.

I've even done my homework.

So since I've been so good I'd like a present, please.

Can you bring me a bag filled with £50.00's to the tune of twenty Million pounds.

After that, get on your sleigh and cruz off to the city, I'm sure there's more work for you there.

Thank you

Santa, you've shown me the true meaning of christmas!

I'm not sure about that. I feel that Man City, like Newcastle, are a team just destined to fail, no matter how much money they spend.

It depends how the owners run them. Newcastle and Spurs have always suffered despite having bags of cash because the board make wrong appointments and then change very frequently, creating a huge amount of disruption and turn over of players.

If they want a model they should look at Abramovich at Chelsea. He has meddled a bit - bringing in Shevchenko etc which was ill advised, but generally he got the right man in and backed him, and this yielded results. You can point to the money outlay which was extraordinary in the first two or three years, but now they spend no more than Utd or Liverpool.

The new owners of City seem a far more sensible lot than Thaksin. I think they were planning to fully back Hughes, but since the Welsh man has (to my immense surprise) made a complete hash of it, it is a fait accompli that they will find the most qualified name they can and bring him in and back him with tens of millions and back off in terms of meddling. Whether the right name is available before the summer is something different though.

It is a shame for Hughes, but he should have done enormously better with the talent at his disposal. They have a superior squad to Villa imo, Sparky just hasn't got them to function. Indeed the defence for one seems to have seriously regressed despite substantial and quality additions like Zabaleta and Kompany. There is not much for Hughes to hide behind.

Benni Tells Roque to stay

Good article where basically Benni highlights that life isnt always greener on the other side. Good on him!

Nice, positive words from Benni.

Would it not be nice for Santa Cruz to come out and say he is genuinely committed to the club for the rest of the season, then he will re-assess in the summer. What a massive boost that would be for everyone. Then Sam would not even have to think about buying another striker.

After all, Santa only signed a new contract a matter of months ago, stated his love for the club and the people at Blackburn.

I just find it a joke how he wants to move on so suddenly, and not help the club he "loves" retain their Premiership status - I mean does he not realise how vital it is we stay in this league and the predicament we are in?

Some are saying we should cash in and then spend it on re-building the squad. Sadly January can be a complete nightmare when trying to bring players in - almost every manager says that. We have been lucky in the past with Hughes purchases in January, however this is not a time for taking chances, especially as the stakes could not be higher.

Sadly, I think Cruz has had enough and his displays this season reflect that, even though he has not been fit as well. Ideally we should look to keep him until the summer. At the moment, whilst Benni and JR are doing well, he could build up his fitness slowly. With those 3 strikers and a couple of quality additions to the squad, our chances of staying up would be excellent.

People should not fool themselves to think Benni and Roque can keep this up for another 18 games.

We need 4 quality strikers.

I wouldnt consider Derbyshire as anything more than an impact sub at best!

IF we have 10 million to spend as Nicko has said, then ideally we retain a COMMITTED Roque and sign a right winger and a creative midfielder.

Otherwise, cash in and sign players you have already identified. I find it ludicruous that a club like us was not prepared for the loss of Bentley before it happened and Id find it even more so damning if we dont have the replacement for Roque lined up already.

To be fair, he's lasted longer than Mr. Blackburn Rovers when he signed his last contract with Rovers. Hendry had gone to Rangers within days of signing his contract extension. :brfcsmilie:

Good article!

Granted, what Benni says is postive for the clun but the article is just another dig at Rovers.

It says we will ask for £12m for him. Really!!??

It also states that he lives in Manchester so he would not have any problems moving to Citeh.

This website has picked up quotes from Benni and Santa Cruz Senior and added their view of things which is that Rovers are not good enough for him.

Poorly written article only saved by the fact it has these direct quotes which are freely available anyway.

This just in.... Will only leave to join another premier league club

Load of @#/? is it?

When did he make these comments to this South American radio station? If this is hot on the heels of the 5Live interview, it's curtains for Roque. I like how he's hoping to be fit for the Newcastle game. Cheers Roque but you might not walk back into the team even if Sam decides to keep you.
