............. I find it ludicruous that a club like us was not prepared for the loss of Bentley before it happened and Id find it even more so damning if we dont have the replacement for Roque lined up already.

I seem to rem Hughes was sniffing around Ireland (and Dunne) around the end of last season. However that was the key with Hughes he didn't like letting players under contract go until he had an adequate or better replacement. It's really not rocket science but this 'lie back and take it' is an issue I'd had with BRFC for years until Hughes came in. Then as soon as he'd gone we revert to type and let two of our three best players leave without equal and adequte replacements ability wise. In a way the club management deserves all the crap that it has heaped up on itself since.

On the plus side it's my opinion that Allardyce is as near to Hughes and every bit as strong, determined and cussed as him as we can possibly get without getting the old RFW himself.

To quote Sparky over Lucash, "Lucas may go if we can do a deal that will allow Blackburn to remain strong. If it's not right for us, he'll stay".

When did he make these comments to this South American radio station? If this is hot on the heels of the 5Live interview, it's curtains for Roque. I like how he's hoping to be fit for the Newcastle game. Cheers Roque but you might not walk back into the team even if Sam decides to keep you.

Lets not be churlish like rejected lovers, and lets not be hasty. I'd wager that if we'd had RSC on the bench to come on instead of Derbyshire that we'd have held out against that late onslaught from City. For the last 15 mins the ball was being cleared to our strikers but cos they couldn't hang on to it it was coming straight back upfield. RSC would have held many of those clearences up without question.

Also according to nicko no bid is in from city, suggesting that he might not be their No1 target. The ultimate destinations of Bellamy, Defoe, Arshavin, Crouch, Heskey, Owen, Jones etc and the fact that many of last years buying clubs are now borrasic will still have a big part to play in our squad for the rest of the season.

To quote the old RFW ................. "Exactly".

Not being obtuse John, but remind me, following that show of bravado, what was the deal that allowed Blackburn to remain strong at right back after Lucas when to WHU?

The only quotes from that article:

""I would like to stay in England. I like this league. It is one of the most competitive in the world," and -

"I have nothing to do with the offers. They are made to the club and the directors deal with them and make a decision."

The rest is a workaround.

Somebody please explain to me where our kitty has gone and how we will only get to spend 10 million pounds after selling Roque?!?

Why arent we asking for Sturridge in return?

Yesterday Sturrdige was expected to sign a new contract at City and if you look back at any transfer involving Rovers players, the manager never gets the full transfer fee to spend.

Here is a challenge for all of you.

Please name one transfer sale of a star player from Fred Pickering onwards which resulted in Rovers strengthening as a team?

I think everybody will conclude that selling Roque in January will be a very dangerous thing to do.

David Speedie? Simon Garner? Mike Newell? Admittedly we had money to go out and replace these players.

Yes phillip it will be dangerous selling roque but imo it is a gamble we have to take, mcarthy and roberts are playing well and the sale of santa cruz will enable us to strengthen other areas such as right wing, centre mid,and full back. What happens if we keep cruz and his injury problems continue?

True but we often sold these players when they were performing at their peak - Shearer, Duff, Bentley etc. At the moment selling RSC would make no difference to the side that's been playing all season - when Bolton sold Anelka he was their star player that season. So we would almost certainly strengthen as a team with the money we recieved.

Whether RSC would return to the form of old if we kept him is a debateable point. He may do, but looking at his Bayern record it's very possible he wouldn't and would represent a dangerous gamble in itself given the money we could potentially lose. It's a tricky one.
