Fair point - again, I'd trust Sam to get us over that and bring in the right personnel. I'm sure he'll have targets lined up before selling. JW surely couldn't let that happen again.

I guess on the other hand RSC's value can't really go down that much due to the clause (if it exists).

If we still had Ince I'd be well in the Rocky stays camp.

There are reasons to expect that you are wrong.

Ince and his cronies were totally out of their depth running a Premier League football team so they were way over their heads in handling a centre forward who is the pin-up boy of the country currently running away with the South American World Cup Qualifiers.

It is very obvious that RSC has been carrying injuries that required a period of complete rest that Ince didn't give him and Sam now is giving to him.

Let's face it, Benni and Jason looked totally lost with zero supply worthy of the name when Ince was in charge. Yet in three Sam games they have had enough good quality supply to have come out on top with goal-bound attempts in every one of the 3 games, scored 5 between them and Jason has collected at least three mind numbing misses for his scrap book to show the grandchildren one day.

If Sam has done that for Benni and Jason, just imagine what he might do for a fully fit Roque.

This is all based on Roque being totally committed to the cause if he is refused his move. Roque has looked like someone who is not committed to the cause this season rather than injured. Last season he played seveal times with knocks and turned in performances several times better than anything seen this season.

If Sam can get Roque firing on all cylinders AND keep Benni happy then I'd say keep him but I suspect that the outcome of this has already been decided and RSC will be playing in City blue soon.

I think the key is that we have someone lined up who'll compliment the three remaining forwards before allowing RSC his pot of gold. I suspect that the only way of acheiving this will be to bring in some foreign forward on loan until the end of the season.

Problem is that I think his value WILL drop, he has shown nothing this season to suggest that last year was nothing more than a one off lucky year. He has never scored more than 5 league goals in a season (bar last year) and I think that no other club is willing to spend £18 million on him so lets cash in.

I trust Benni to score goals and if Sam gets to spend most of the above money then he will build a better team, there are other priority positions, forwards are pretty strong.

The main reason I would advocate selling is because, when healthy, Rocky and Benni just can't play together as well as each of them plays with Roberts. We'd have one 20 goal scorer on the bench, or we'd have 2 20 goal scorers turned into 2 under 10 goal scorers.

But we all know Roque is capable of scoring goals and helping us survive. If we go down then the board will get stick for selling our best players and not backing Sam. It's a tough one but either way Rovers will come out on top. £18million or a quality striker, it's been a while since we've been in this position.

Well a few months anyway, 15 million for the flash one who didn't want to be a big fish in a small pond. Now he's he's an average fish in a smelly pond. Hughes and his team did a great job dusting down these forgotten men and making them command top prices.

I think its probably safe to say that after Sams latest comments and Roques "injury" that hes definately off in the next few days.

Anything about 15m is crazy money for the man, I still for the life of me do not seem him as doing anything more than he has already for us, and i think his injuries will soon surface again.

The only problem is whether we have a replacement lined up or not, if not then we could end up in the same boat as the Duff, Shearer and Bentley sales.

After what Allardyce has said a few hours ago, its dead cert that he will leave. Its a question of how soon and how much. He has played his last game for us. Allardyce made it clear that Roque wants to leave and now, and in fact his statement pushed Roque out of the door far more than the vague flirting he had been doing himself in the past few days.

Its a shame it ends this way.

I am sure he will regret going to Man City. Hughes WILL get sacked. And eventually Roque Santa Cruz will not be good enough or big enough for Man City...

And not a pound less than his release clause of 18 million.

15 million is too little for the man.

If a bid does not come in over the weekend, It's not as though this is a new link.

I think we should do the same as Villa did with Liverpool in the Berry saga in the summer, give them a deadline so we have plenty of time to react, and bring in a replacement/'s.

Put up or shut up. I would like him to stay until the end of the season, even though he has not scored to many this season, quality is permanent, I believe.

A few articles today speculate the bid will come soon, but so will Midnight on the 2nd of Feb.

In a perfect world we'd get cash plus Onuoha and Sturridge.

No, in a perfect world we'd get cash plus Robinho  .

Not really watched Onuoha that much, but Sturridge always causes problems when he plays so i'd be welll happy if that came off!

Oouha was dreadful at Ewood. I can't see SA valuing him very much.

So according to the media RSC is as good as gone, for 18m or whatever.

So can some one explain to me what the f@@k is Sam on about in the link on the 31st Dec..

Is he lying or what. it was only three days ago, two of which most people have been away from there workplace.

Sams Santa Cruz aim.

my opinion is he is only saying that he doesn't want to talk about selling Roque, and he wants to get him fit. He doesn't say that he isn't going to sell him. I thought he has said all along that he would sell for the right price hasn't he?

"I'm focused on getting Roque fit and playing for us, rather than talking about selling him, that is my main focus," said Allardyce. "Because I haven't seen him play since I've been here.

I didn't even notice him  .

Edit: yeah that still doesn't change my view if you write it big :P . He is saying he is concentrating on getting him fit and playing for us, that doesn't mean he isn't going to sell him. Just that he wants him playing for us until he goes.

The only drawback with this Toogs, is that no matter how much money is available to Sam, because of our league position we might struggle to bring in good players. Another reason why it might be wiser, at this moment in time, to keep hold.

Hopefully we've shown enough to potential suitors in the last three games to show we're in with a good chance, but 3 wins would have made life easier. Hopefully Sam can use his gravity effect to draw in some class.

Onuoha only real strenght is his pace and he has that to burn, not for me he was awful at Ewood.

One question on RSC say he doesn't put in a request for a transfer how much of his 3 and half years will we have to give him. Tax as well and agents fee's must have some sort of standard amount? Really I suppose I'm asking the finanaces bigwigs if we sell for 18M how much will be left after deductions for Sam to play with.

So window closes in around 30 days in which we have 4 league games, Sam must be expecting a lot from Roque.

"So I'm looking forward to him getting fit, and, if anything, producing the sort of form as he did last season to get us out of trouble, rather than all the speculation about selling him."

I'm not suggesting that we won't sell, just this article seems to contradict earlier reports, some what.

Another way round, is to give new players a contract with a pay off, if we are relegated. Still, any decent players would go to teams who are in no risk of going down, if given that opportunity. Sam's best chances are to bring in players who he knows, and who respect him - ala Diouff.

In Sam I trust. In Ince I didn't.

I know what you are saying, but it suggests to me that Sam is basically saying 'I don't want to talk about it'. At no point does he say there that Roque is not getting sold, just that 'if anything' he wants 'to look forward' to him playing well for us to help us get out of trouble, instead of focusing on speculation.

It looks like base covering to me. If no bid has been made (and no big bid gets made) then he has covered if Roque stays by saying that Roque needs to regain his form. On the other hand, he is also saying that he doesn't want to talk about selling Roque because that shouldn't be the focus at the minute. If an 18m+ bid comes in, he will sell.

I seem to remember seeing something where he was asked about Roque being injured and he gave a smile after his answer. It said to me that he thought Roque would definitly be going, but I could have read it wrong.

In 4 league games a lot can happen. ;)
