67splitscreen
I know what you are saying, but it suggests to me that Sam is basically saying 'I don't want to talk about it'. At no point does he say there that Roque is not getting sold, just that 'if anything' he wants 'to look forward' to him playing well for us to help us get out of trouble, instead of focusing on speculation. It looks like base covering to me. If no bid has been made (and no big bid gets made) then he has covered if Roque stays by saying that Roque needs to regain his form. On the other hand, he is also saying that he doesn't want to talk about selling Roque because that shouldn't be the focus at the minute. If an 18m+ bid comes in, he will sell. I seem to remember seeing something where he was asked about Roque being injured and he gave a smile after his answer. It said to me that he thought Roque would definitly be going, but I could have read it wrong. In 4 league games a lot can happen. Very fair interpretation of the article, IYO. Guess we will know soon, if the report of them preparing a bid for Ett'o (50m) comes off, then RSC will not be going to CMS anytime soon.

chris
did Sam think that Santa Cruz's transfer request was a personal attack due to the timing e.g. he not a good enough manager????
Billy Castell
Let's see if he gets over his injuries and performs for us under our new manager. I'd like him to stay long enough so we can see how he does under BFS.

Yup! 50m, madness. Can we see anyone else other than City bidding so much for him?
T4E
I didn't even notice him . He got taken off with an "injury" after Roberts had battered him for an hour.
JAL
Onuoha only real strenght is his pace and he has that to burn, not for me he was awful at Ewood. Yes, but if you had a belief that you could improve a player whose basics are big, quick and strong, can play a pass or two, surely you'd take him when you look at the sparse talent in reserve at Ewood Park these days. RibbleValleyRover
If a bid does not come in over the weekend, It's not as though this is a new link. I think we should do the same as Villa did with Liverpool in the Berry saga in the summer, give them a deadline so we have plenty of time to react, and bring in a replacement/'s. Put up or shut up. I would like him to stay until the end of the season, even though he has not scored to many this season, quality is permanent, I believe. A few articles today speculate the bid will come soon, but so will Midnight on the 2nd of Feb. I agree with having a deadline (if there is no relase clause), if we are to sell Roque we need some time to bring in some players. A scumbag City fan on BlueMoon: "I'm hoping this is all a bluff. Fat Sam demands £22m - we play him along and we then sign other (better) targets on or around 2nd Feb leaving Sam with no money, no signings, no time and probable relegation. Sweet." Thinking about it if there is a release clause it could actually leave us in the s**t, if a club comes in with a bid on the last day that meets the release clause then we may have no time whatsoever to bring anyone else in with the RSC money. Seems to me that there are players Hughes wants and players the club wants. It'll either end up in compromise or Hughes no longer being their manager. I bet the club aren't too keen on spending £18M on Roque given the other names they could be going for.
rovers1993
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...Santa_Cruz.html this chap is REALLY looking to leave... just look at the comment he just made. it's sickening really how he could twist and turn saying he wants to leave really bad but if he cant he'll be happy here... just admit it! your unhappy here and you want out now! please ship him off now! Backroom Tom Posted January 2, 2009 Backroom Share Posted January 2, 2009 I agree it's not nice playing this waiting game, the sooner the better now really. i think it's obvious that Sparky has spoke to Roque saying he will be back for him. I genuinely think Roque would be no good to us now if he was to stay and would be far better used as potential collateral. We all read the reports of how bad he was at Bayern and he was starting to look that way before his 'injury' One thing is for certain: GIVE SAM ALL THE MONEY TO SPEND
Hughesy
City set to lodge bid according to RSC Surely if he has this info then he must of been tapped up. Hopefully we screw them for everything we possibly can.
T4E
How does he know there will be a bid? The only way he could know is if there's been illegal contact from City. £22m and we wont go to the FA.
RibbleValleyRover
I've long suspected he has been tapped up, he hasn't looked interested for ages. With the constant speculation pretty much every day that he is going to City and Hughes's unprofessional behaviour (IMO) concerning transfer targets it was bound to further aid in their effort to unsettle the player. FA works for the bigger clubs, we have got no chance. I just hope RSC leaves quickly, giving Sam a chance to purchase some top quality players, we dont want to be in a position where RSC leaves on deadline day. The only way he could know is if there's been illegal contact from City. £22m and we wont go to the FA. Illegal contact ?.I reckon Hughes has been in contact with Cruz on a monthly matey matey basis since he left Ewood. Hughes told Cruz to play at half pace.He has been all season, Rovers fans are not really arsed about him leaving due to his poor form and Hughes will get his man for a reduced fee 10 mil or so.Just wait for Santas miraculous injury free return to top form as soon as he puts on the sky blue shirt. ###### both of them. broadsword
After what I've read about the Bentley deal, I'm beginning to wonder if we'll even profit from selling RSC. Indeed I mean, it seems unbelievable that you could sell something for 18 mill and not even see a penny of it 6 months later It's hurting my head just to think of it

RibbleValleyRover
Beware of the Rovers curse Roque thats all i can say... Its a stupid move really as Hughes will get sacked and a new big name manager will come in. The new manager will want bigger names as will the board who want instant success. But if a player wants to go and ruin his career what can you do?

It could even be his agent making the moves and Roque knows nothing about it. Quite frankly who the hell knows whats going on...! I just want the damn thing resolved one way or the other as i'm pretty tired of reading every day for the past god knows how many months that he is going.
