I wouldnt be too upset if we sold RSC for a good price to be honest. Say we get 18-20m for RSC, sign a decent replacement and a good right winger, then surely that will only make us better than we currently are. Especially as Benni Mac has showed signs of regaining some form again.

Den stands by every word he's ever posted on here. Rocky's sale makes no difference.

I find this all very depressing TBH. Who would have thought 6 months ago, that rovers would have sold all three of their best players - without any need to have done so? Stand up that man who said we're an ambitious club. Seems to me that the owners have only one ambition for this club.

Thank god I'm off to the Caribbean next week. :)

Was told today theres an article in the 442 magazine about rich owners in the premiership and it mentions the Walker family as being very close to selling the club but it all depends on premiership survival.

Dont know if theres any truth in it, but if there is, does it not suggest that the current management team are either clearing the decks or wiping out the debt so to speak so the new regime can come in and take over or are they just taking as much cash as they can out of the club before they pass on the baton to a new regime.

Oddly, I feel slightly sorry for Roque in all this. He's basically a pawn in City's game of tout-for-big-stars-but-keep-the-easy-target-on-the-hook. Clearly Roque isn't first choice and has basically been made a mug of. City must know what the price is to get him yet they offer low bids to keep him unsettled. If he'd any sense he'd see City (and Hughes for that matter) for what they are and fire them off; get his head down and work his way towards a bigger club in the Summer. Going to City now would just be for the (short-term) pay day.

What i dont get is why he wants to leave so much, he will be back in the situation he was at, when he was in Germany!! Okay more money but thats nothing if you aint playing and scoring!

Let him off, biggest mistake he will make!

Hughes is being seriously out of order publicly going into Roque's contractual situation in sauch detail.

Meanwhile the deafning silence form Ewood indicates we obviously actually WANT 18-20m otherwise we would have issued a firm "not for sale" statement. The owners and the Board are in my view being equally bang out of order by even contemplating Roque's sale before the summer.

I agree with den, it's a total fiasco and imo as I've said previously the sale of RSC will only probably lead to our owners being the wealthiest in the Championship. I doubt a particularly signififcant proportion of the proceeds will be reinvested in the side.

Tris and Phillipl: No more please, continue your war of words on pm if your that fussed.

Why is Tris getting in trouble for being misquoted by philip?

It was unsall not Tris who first correctly predicted any "Clause" kicked in in summer.

The paper that "hates us" gives their opinion on the whole Roque transfer saga by claiming Roque is pleading to go:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...y.html?ITO=1490

This disgusts me in all honesty, when has Roque pleaded to go, from what I've seen he's always said he's happy here and respects his contract. How is it the club have managed to keep it secret and the fans know nothing about it but suddenly the Daily Mail know all about his supposed desire to leave.

RSC wants to go and Hughes wants him, but The pay masters dont really wont him. the bid for RSC was pathetic and city owners know this, thay are just putting up a front to make it look like they are backing Hughes!!

That's exactly what I think, he's probably getting sacked if they lose to Portsmouth so why waste money on players another manager may not want.

Watch Sky Sports News this morning then... they are also saying Roque 'desperately wants away'

Of course, they could just be picking up on the story from the Mail, but you know what they say.... "No smoke without fire" :rover:

If he wants away, let him ask for a transfer and forfeit any loyalty payment.

Also of course we wont say he is not for sale, cause Sam Allardyce has clearly said that Roque wants away BUT we will only sell him if it suits us, so we are ready to hear offers at the right price.

Today's LT reports Citeh have now made three bids for RSC, the latest being around "15m in total" but that the clubs are still some way off re: a valuation and that we have several Citeh players on our radar in possible px.

Disappointed to see Simon Garner also saying "No point in keeping Roque" in his weekly column.

Belfast Telegraph mentions about a £4,5M bid done in last January - perhaps that's the first then, the one in August the second and this "£15M in total" the third.

Completely agree.

I cannot see how it will make us better by cashing in. Absoulte priority should be the football team and doing all we can to stay up.

Even clubs with money are struggling to bring in 'quality players' so having money in the bank will not make much difference.

Why are people criticisng the Board? If we sell Roque for £18 million, then for me, that represents excellent value, for a player who is slow and only ever had one really good season :tu:

Just have to hope Benni n Jase stay sharp!!!

Thats alot of hope to put in the future of our club!

No player usually goes more than a run of 5-7 games in a row hitting all cylinders and once they hit a dip it takes possibly that many games to come out of it too.

If Roque leaves, then a quality goalscorer must be signed, but we all know those are the most difficult ones. Even world class ones may not settle in time in this country and we have seen this in the past. And if we are talking about PL strikers, which club will sell us theirs right now?

Just a few observations:

- The terse one liner that the RSC bid had been rejected came out from Rovers almost before we knew the bid had been submitted. That seems to be a pretty conclusive statement of intent on the part of the Rovers.

- City are clearly determined to low ball this one.

- There is no clause affecting this window. The world of 1 July 2009 is likely to look very different from the world today so the clause is an annoying distraction but of little moment to two clubs deep in relegation difficulties scrapping over a player today.

- The player himself is not throwing toys out of the pram as far as anyone can see and has not said anything but good things about Sam and that he remains happy at Rovers. Just that City might be able to match his ambitions more closely.

Looking at how this window is shaping up and knowing that City are quite likely to take their time about submitting future bids, never mind all the complications, my gut feel is its best for Rovers to be closing the door 100% on this one for this window. I don't believe for a moment that selling Roque would do anything but seriously weaken our bid to stay up.

There simply are no players available of the quality we need for the transfer budget we would have or within our wage structure. We could end up having sold a player to City and failed to get a City premium yet every other club quote City premium prices at us because we have done business with them.
