Our recent experience tends to show that simply doesn't work.

We sold Duff and nearly got relegated two consecutive seasons running.

We sold Bentley, didn't reinvest the proceeds and look where we are now.

And now in the depths of a relegation scrap we're contemplating selling RSC as well? Insanity.

Both Duff and Bentley were coming off their best seasons ever and were at their peak when we sold them, they were huge losses. RSC has scored 4 goals this season. It's nothing like the same thing.

He isn't going to "save" our season. I wouldn't be surprised if he was sat at home in a Man City shirt, whilst texting Mark Hughes.

If we don't sell him ASAP, IMO he is not going to save our season and will we have on our books a striker on 50k p/w who just can't be bothered.

That is what the Bayern fans thought of him, he never "pulled his finger out" and knuckled down. It just got to a point where his value hit 3m and Hughes took a chance on him (NO OTHER CLUB WANTED ANYTHING TO DO WITH HIM).

Is Hughes a genius or did everybody else know (generally) what he is like. I don't think anybody expected him to do so well last season, but in some circles is our current predicament unexpected? I don't think Bayern fans would say so.

To be fair Roque was on his way to FC Porto,"No other club wanted anything to do with him" is a wrong information (I`m living in Munich).

I'm surprised with Roque's immediate demands to leave. We gave him the opportunity to play regular first team football and gave him the move to England when others may have shunned him and this is the thanks we get. If City were to come in with a large bid and it were to be accepted then I can understand him wanting to move on. But going out of his way to gain a move is disappointing.

I've always said we should flog him if the right money comes in. I don't think he is as important a player as Bentley was to us when he left and I think we'll survive regardless of who is playing for us come the end of the season.

Very disappointed with Hughes as well. I respect him for the job he did here but his ridiculous comments to the media seem to indicate he wants to burn all bridges with the Rovers fans. I, for one, will be laughing when he finally gets sacked.

If I was a player who played for Blackburn, had a great season, got a ego, then the manager left, we sold our best players, and were 19th, we had no money and I was 27 (which I am) I would never in 1 billion years be loyal, I wanna play my best years at the top or a team aiming for the top.

infact 5 a side I rule ass in real life, so I play for the best team of all three leagues, i'm not going to a weak team who gave me a chance over loyalty, even if they are my friends. I want medals.

You have to remember Blackburn just make up the numbers in this league.

even as a Blackburn fan I would leave, come back at 31/32 or something.

I have a lot of faith in Sam though, he might get us in the top 8 soonish, then plays might want to stay

I don't think it's the fact he wants to go that is annoying. It's the way he/his agents have gone about apparently agitating for the move and the way city and in particular Hughes are playing hard done by because we dare to say pay if you want him that is winding fans up.

Exactly, if he wants to move he should hand a transfer request in.

Although he doesn't need to, because if he gives the impression that he wants to move, and won't try for us any more then we have to sell him and give him his percentage (as he hasn't handed in a request)

I totally agree with you. In the past we've shown that don't reinvest the money that we get when we sell our best players very well. It's all very well selling him now and banking £18 million + for him, but who in all honesty are we going to bring in to replace him? Yes, he has hardly set the world alight this season, but that could be down to playing with injuries as has been reported. He has shown that he can score goals if given the right service, so I think we should concentrate on bringing someone in who can do that. Man City could just walk away from the deal, but in the end I would rather not have £18 million for a player that we don't need to sell and which won't risk the clubs future, instead of selling him which would lead to the clubs relegation and the loss of tens of millions that could destroy us for years to come. Having a player of his quality is vital to our survival. When he signed his contract he talked about how he owed the club. Well playing at the level he has done for the first half of the season and then looking to jump ship does not come close to repaying the chance we took on him. I hope Sam or JW remind him of his comments. If he gets fit, scores some goals and helps us survive, then that would go some way toward repaying us. We should hold onto until the summer at least and if City are still want him, then let him go. We mightn't get as much for him, but at least we will still be in the Premiership.

Sam looks fed up with the whole situation:

BFS's off the field antics are certainly growing on me.

I think Roque could well stay, nobody but Man City would possibly pay the money and I don't think even they want to, as soon as Hughes goes sooner or later the new manager won't want him at all.

Still thinking we should push the boat out and go for Podolksi if RSC goes.

Well once again it is looking like a move to Fc Koln is back on. Click Here

I know it is his home club but if he any ambition he would jump at the chance of coming to play in the premiership. Seeing Santa's success at Rovers after struggling at Bayern may also be a decent pull to the club.

Probably little chance but if we were to lose Santa he is a player at least in the same bracket, if not better, and he is cheaper!

And younger I would have thought, can't be bothered too look it up but memory tells me he is about 23? Unfortunately perhaps its a case of bad timing where we cannot afford to take a gamble.

Surprised other english clubs haven't been linked with him though, he looked excellent for Germany in the European Championships, for £10 millionish he seems a snip when you have seen the prices quotes for other strikers.

Are we missing something with him perhaps?

I wish I could believe it's Man City that he's fed up with.

If the reality is City are only at £12m I'd be very angry at being distracted by this.

Add ons are totally worthless. This is the window that matters and we cannot trade a City formula for a bag of crisps let alone a player by Feb 2.

Besides, Hughes might not even be there for a single game after signing Roque making an appearance based formula even more worthless.

If we are planning on selling RSC, I would have expected us to have shown interest in Beattie

seriously, beattie is proven garbage at this level........the wages to goal return would be horrendous.

Proven garbage is a little harsh. In the 4 seasons between 2000 and 2004 he scored 60 league goals in 140 games for Southampton. At Everton he wasn't great, but still finished as their top scorer one season and had a whole host of injuries. And he's done very well back in the Championship.

Still not disappointed we haven't signed him, he's 30 already, but thought I'd stick up for a Blackburn lad...

Sturridge is a class act. Don't know if he would be interested though?

Rovers need to clear 15 millions. If the total bid needs to be about 17m, a deal including Sturridge would still be over 10. Three million pounds is not enough though, he's inexperienced but gifted, and still 21?!

I said he is worth 3 million so a deal of 15 million cash and Sturridge or something along those lines. I think we should be pushing for a player of his quality in exchange from City.

To be honest Bojinov was a class act in Italy but his injuries in England have prevented him from settling and he might be worth a look if fully recovered.
