hughes never played 4-3-3. i guess either RSC or bellamy will be on the bench cause it'll be robinho and one of them in front with SWP on the right Kompany and Ireland in the middle and when petrov gets back, him on the left.

thats a VERY good midfield, but knowing city it'll turn out to be the worst in the league :P

Correct. Apart from early days at BRFC Hughes is a 4-4-2 man. RSC would have no real rival if he went to City so I guess 1st Xl would be him and Bellamy with Robinho to bring in if Bellamy gets injured. I get the feeling that Hughes would be rid of Robinho as soon as possible if he was given half a chance.

Roque needs wingers to make the best of his game. One of the suggested reasons for him struggling this season has been the loss of Bentley's crosses. (Wonder if Hughes might even try to sign them both?).

But for this reason I would see Robinho OR Bellamy partnering Santa Cruz - not both.

Long time before the transfer window closes but Downing so far at Boro is a similiar situation to Barry.

Best comparison to Bentley's situation however downing and Bentley seem like rather different people.

How come nobody ever mentioned Sturridge before Christmas?

Still can't believe they would even consider it.

Surely if Chelsea had wanted him in the summer they'd have got him?

Chelsea is a graveyard for kids, look at scott sinclair what a waste.

Exactly. One costs 15m and the other becomes a free transfer.

In a nutshell resurrecting them that has been Mark Hughes's forte and imo is our best way forward. Sell-on clauses would become a fact of life but so what?

Same for every transfer. Best way forward for this club is youth barring disastrous performances they will always have re-sale.

If Hughes can't handle Robinho he is doomed. More ego's will be demanded.

Why do you want us to be perrenial pushovers? Think about the Gareth Barry and David Bentley contrasting situations. Both said they wanted to leave but with very different results.

You are ignoring the golden rule waggy. SUITABLE (or preferably better) REPLACEMENT IN FIRST. Mark Hughes has been the only manager who possessed the sense and strength to implement and insist on that policy in all my time supporting BRFC.

Roque's quotes to a paraguian radio station are in the lancashire telegraph today. He has said that he wants to leave and thinks that £20 million would be enough, he said that rovers want £20 million as they are worried about the cost of potential replacements. Heis going talk to the club again and spouts on about City and how they are ambitious. I think that he'll be gone very soon.

Makes me very angry, especially as I stupidly thought that Roque was different to all the others who have left when he actually talked about the club being good for him and signing a new deal in August. The way this has been handled by the Hughes, City and Roque has been extremely poor, publically talking about how much they have bid etc is very unprofessional, if I was Rovers manager i'd fine Roque after the latest interview. I really hope that we do finish above City.

It would be funny if City do go and sign Kaka and Bellamy, it'll probably mean they won't go for Roque, after the comments that he had made it'll be difficult for him to have the same relationship/status that he had with the fans previous to all off this.

Just about every player is out for themselves.

Football is a selfish game and we should never convince ourselves that any player will stay beyond a tempting alternative offer.

I hold no bitterness towards Roque and just hope we squeeze a good a deal out of it as possible and sign the next player to use us as a stepping stone, cos if they use us as a stepping stone it means that they've done bloody well for us.

I think he'll go in this window - but on our terms. City will miss out on everyone, and end up having to come in for Roque towards the end of the window. He's one player they know will go to them, but hopefully we can squeeze upwards of 10m plus Daniel Sturridge. We don't have to sell, City will be desperate and we'll get a replacement plus cash. Happy Days!

I like the stance rovers have taken on this, give us what we want or bugger off.

Sick of Rovers being bullied by 'bigger clubs' in the past and I for one am glad we are standing up to hughes and his poor tactics.

We don't have to sell so if you want him then you will pay what we want to accept and not a penny less.

Good work Sam / john.

I actually don't mind what Roque has said too much. He's not a Blackburn fan and it looks like the only team left in the league with a bottomless pit of money wants to give him a lot of it. If I was a 27 year old striker with one good season behind me I'd be itching for the move before I got found out. He's also been keen to point out that he's happy at Rovers if nothing better comes along. I think that's a pretty honest assesment of what most pros think like. As long as he performs when he's on the pitch I'm happy to keep him.

Fair enough Kamy, but all that does for me is want the Rovers to finish above city.

Anyone else have similar thoughts?

Believe it or not I want Rovers to finish above everyone, always have, regardless of Roque/Hughes/Shearer/Duff/Grabbi.

It would be more surprising if anyone didn't want us to finish above City.

I wish this thing would be put to bed and he would just go.

1. He isn't interested in us anymore

2. Santa is a good player don't get me wrong about that but its a fact that he is injury prone and we don't need that here

3. Santa will win games if he has the type of Bentley crosses that he used to receive - he doesn't so he isn't as affective

4. Tell them 20m and he can go so they think they have won

5. Say no if they offer Sturridge - Derbs can do anything he can. The lad is overrated.

As its been said it would be hard to replace him though. Its difficult to get someone to come to a team fighting relegation and so we might have to wait till the summer to get someone - by which time it may be too late.

The perfect outcome of course would be we sell him. Stay up and then are aloud to use the money in the summer.

'"I will communicate and talk to the club and the coach, they know my position, I want to go."

Goodbye then.....

I hope you are just as prolific a goal scorer for City as you have been for us so far this season.

Sam, take the next bid for him, whatever it is.............

Which option would people prefer:

1) Roque signed a new contract, knowing that he wasn't going to stay, but hoping that this would ensure Rovers got a good deal for him?

or

2) Neill not signing a new contract, knowing that he wasn't going to stay, which meant there was no chance of us thinking he was going to stay but affecting the deal we got for him.

I think the best thing is to just accept that a player, contract or not, might one day leave for several reasons. The only thing I would say is that we should make sure that whenever a player leaves, we get a deal that we want and only let them leave when we are happy, for example, having a replacement lined up if needed.

1 every day of the week.

Roque did the right thing for Rovers and himself when he signed the contract, as it kept his value high and he got a clause inserted. He could have likely walked away in the Summer for far less than £20m if he'd kicked up a stink, and he could have walked away for less now.

He doesn't want to be here so he needs to go and we need to get the next one in.
