Bobby G Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Huge difference. Galliani and Berlusconi have been pushing Kaka out with their statements. Kaka had not opened his mouth once during the saga. So the fans knew he was being pushed out. In this case we know Roque and his radio station quite well...

herbergeehh Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Forget the babyhouse stuff. Booing is effectively painting the club and Allardyce into a corner that will inevitably mean that we will lose RSC and for less money than we are asking. Every numpty booing from the Blackburn End is taking bargaining chips away from the manager. Very true. I think the reaction overall (from what I could hear on TV) was fairly good, it started off with boo's and ended in cheers. It showed the fans' displeasure with the transfer situation, before getting behind him as a Rovers player who's done very well for us, and will continue to do so. On a side note, Newcastle and Kinnear seems to be in the same situation we were in a few weeks ago, before sacking Ince. Long may it continue!

On the contrary- Berlusconi and co have played a blinder and left Man City looking stupid, whilst retaining their best and most popular player. City, not shy to tap up their targets through the press recently, now have the whole world in on the fact that they were willing to blow £100 million quid on a single target / £25 million per year on his wages / £20+ million on fees. If they really want RSC (or anyone else for that matter), it's going to cost them even more now.

City have made the starting point for negotiations for Buffon, Messi, Torres and Ronaldo £100m as well.
waggy Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 rsc has made it clear he wants out,i have a funny feeling the deal will be done on the last day,no replacement bought and the money goes of to jersey
Ronin Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 If Citeh want to pay £11m for Bridge and £14m for Bellamy, then I suppose they'll be the guide to start negotiations. Maybe £40m for RSC isn't a bad shout after all
modes98 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 i have a funny feeling the deal will be done on the last day If it is then we should push through a loan of sturridge before the Rocky deal is done. At least then we have another striker with prem experience in the ranks. It's better than nothing and we have the possibility of convincing him to sign come 1st July.

At least then we have another striker with prem experience in the ranks. It's better than nothing and we have the possibility of convincing him to sign come 1st July. I'm convinced that if we can get him here on loan he would sign for us in the summer. Surely at his age he needs/wants to be playing? Thats not gonna happen enough at City.
rundereim Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 de jong to city for 20 mill not so shure they will go after cruz before the window is close to ending...better we keep him than...
philipl Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 City playing silly psychology. The inference clearly is that if they go for Henry at the end of the season, they might not go for RSC. Only problem is they haven't spoken to Barca or Henry's people so it is yet another load of rubbish being spouted by the non-football people and disgraced ex-West Ham guy at City. I would think Sam and JW are getting ever more determined over this one. It is very apparent from this Independent report that the City team blundered horribly in their dealings on Kaka. I bet AC Milan who clearly have taken Kaka and co for a bit of a ride over his image rights are dead chuffed to see Mr Nike describing Kaka's people as a cottage industry. Everton have clearly told City to get stuffed- good for them. Ditto Valencia asking over £120m for Villa and chum.
malk Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The courting of our club's players is never a pleasant experience but I cannot recall a situation that has left such a sour taste as this RSC one. For reference, the Bentley to do was a cakewalk compared to the Shearer and Duff losses, and not just due to the quality of player involved. I, for my sins, was listening to talksport the day after the Kaka nonce sense finished and Gary Cook was on the programme. Without reiterating the tosh that spouts from Alan Brazil's mouth, the comedy moment came when Cook attempted a snide comment at Milan where he 'casually' mentioned that Citeh didn't try to do deals in the press, unlike certain Italian clubs. Putting aside for one moment that press coverage about Milan (a religion in Italy) cannot be compared to the other Manchester team (whom I had some affinity for in the past), the sheer hypocrisy of the statement nearly got me into trouble on the single lane roads over the Trough of Bowland. I really cannot get my head around what they are trying to accomplish. Given the info here about their lowballing clubs with silly offers for players and then having press stooges inflate the deals for the masses it almost comes across as their owners playing the big man whilst being no more than ten bob millionaires. Whilst this is clearly not the case it is an impression I cannot shake. It's obvious that this is a publicity offensive for the oligarchs so it begs the question whether noble attempts thwarted by evil others wouldn't give the same effect as them spending actual brass? The other option is that Cook just doesn't understand the strange beast that is football finance and his business acumen is more of a hindrance than anything else. Still, I'll be laughing along with it all as long as it lasts. Seeing them fail though folly or fortune is good enough, but when combined with showing that there is more to football than money (not much more mind) and the singular comedic gold of paying fourteen million actual pounds sterling for the joke that is Craig "61 in 205" Bellamy, it's worth as much as a cup run. Bellamy is worth mentioning again. Fourteen million pounds for a player who averages less than twenty three league games per premiership season and takes over three and a third games to score in each. That's an average of less than seven goals per season with data spread over nine seasons. To compare, James Beattie scores at around the same rate (just comparing premiership seasons) and averages over eight goals per season. Also, half of Beattie's seasons have resulted in ten or more league goals being scored, a feat Bellamy has only achieved once(!) in nine attempts (!!). Keep blowing your cash Citeh... we'll see where it gets you.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 What about taking richards as part of RSC deal? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2157990.ece
The Rover of Finland Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 What about taking richards as part of RSC deal? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2157990.ece Would be a magnificent hijack! Micah and £8M and RSC is sold.
waynerovers Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 spend the 8 mill on janko and we'd be laughing
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Would be a magnificent hijack! Micah and £8M and RSC is sold. Nope, £15 mill and Richards[if he is only worth £5mill]
Tris Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Would be a magnificent hijack! Micah and £8M and RSC is sold. Are you mad? That's at least 10 million quid short, and you need to cross out Micah and put in Daniel.
The Rover of Finland Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Are you mad? That's at least 10 million quid short, and you need to cross out Micah and put in Daniel. Richards is worth for £10M minimum.
philipl Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 There is one thing Rovers should bear in mind. A net gain of six points in the next 17 games over the rest of the Prem's bottom 14 is worth in the region of £8m to Rovers through media money. Sam has done wonders reviving Benni and Jason so I would say that Roque when fit is far less of a challenge to get going than those two. Roque is a proven PL forward (unlike Janko) so that £8m in media revenue has to come into the Rovers' considerations as compensation that is needed. The Daily Mail are reporting that City have now offered £15m straight cash. That is miles away from Sam's £40m or the £130m they were reported as willing to go to for Kaka. It is even less than the premium they paid Hamburg to sign De Jong now as opposed to signing him in the summer.
mark1875 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Richards is worth for £10M minimum. sky sports have been linking him to bolton/wigan for the region of £5m today
rebelmswar Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 sky sports have been linking him to bolton/wigan for the region of £5m today If that is true then City have lost the plot entirely, pay that money for Bridge then accept that amount for him? If we could bundle him in on the Santa deal that would be great but the wages would be massive.
modes98 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 but the wages would be massive. Rumoured £70k a week on the nicko thread and I don't think that would be far off.
Sparky Marky Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 If Cruz does go to Citeh then we need to be getting Johnson and Sturridge as part of the deal.
gumboots Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 If Cruz does go to Citeh then we need to be getting Johnson and Sturridge as part of the deal. Isn't Johnson meant to be only interested in clubbing and drinking? If so he's not the player we want. And isn't sturridge keen at the moment to stay nad see what happens before deciding if he wants to leave City? In whick case highly unlikely. what we want if we sell is cash, soon, in time to spend it. Swap deals don't work.
gazsimm Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 If Cruz does go to Citeh then we need to be getting Johnson and Sturridge as part of the deal. forget about johnson, i rather we go for Richards and sturridge if richards comes avaliable
Blackpool_Rover Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Just stumbled on a nice little piece regarding us and Roque HERE
