The Rover of Finland Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Just stumbled on a nice little piece regarding us and Roque HERE It really says it all. Kind of funny story but sadly it´s true. Bentley must be real happy for playing big club. Hah.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 There are a fair few successful Rovers players who have left us to better their careers only to find it's gone a bit pear shaped. Maybe players need to understand that the only thing we can't compete with is the huge amounts of money in the game but apart from that, it's a pretty good place to work!!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Could we call it the curse of the Rovers?....Roque beware
thenodrog Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Even Talksports taking the p1ss. Spin the wheel..... Mark Hughes finally getting his brazilian! http://mag.talksport.net/1F4976f17211ff6012.cde/page/18
RoyRover Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Just stumbled on a nice little piece regarding us and Roque HERE That's a fantastic piece, that puts into words exactly how I felt about these players leaving. If you look at the McCarthy, Bellamy, Bentley and Santa Cruz situations, there has been a pattern in how events on folded. They all enjoyed great starts to their flagging careers, get rewarded with new contracts and profess their loyalty to the club and their love of the fans. Their fine form starts to generate rumours about 'bigger' clubs being interested and when asked about it by reporters, they talk about how happy they are and then there is the big 'but.' This usually comes in the same sentence as when they are talking about their love for the club and goes along the lines of 'but I'm ambitious and want to play at the highest possible level, challenge for trophies and hope that I can do this with Blackburn.' They know fine rightly that we aren't going to be able to compete with the big boys and it's from here that the story picks up and the players start getting linked with perceived better teams and when asked about the players talk about how flattered they are, but they are only thinking about Blackburn. Then before you know it they are talking openly about wanting to play for that team, who are in Europe and who can win trophies. Of the four, Bentley and Bellamy are the only ones to have left, but there are similarities between all these players and others from other clubs who all of a sudden have wanted out when someone 'better' has come calling.
Mr. E Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Looks like Cruz is staying...but hopefully he'll be staying on the bench too. It's clear that Roberts-Benni have formed a much sharper partnership than either with Cruz.
mode_m Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Great article Now where is the one listing the most loyal Rovers? Tugay would have to top my list of existing players at least.
Rovermatt Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Just stumbled on a nice little piece regarding us and Roque HERE While poorly written, it makes some excellent points.
JC4LAB Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 According to Ceefax Fottball Gossip, City have allegedly old Us that Sturridge wont be part of any deal..If this this so there could be sonething going on behind the scenes.....
LeftWinger Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 According to Ceefax Fottball Gossip, City have allegedly old Us that Sturridge wont be part of any deal..If this this so there could be sonething going on behind the scenes..... We should just tell them that if Sturridge isn't going to be part of any deal - than neither will Roque be.
philipl Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Sam has apparently just said that no new offer for RSC has been received.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Hughes has spoken to SSN again about Roque in order to further unsettle the player : http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_4837629,00.html "It is well documented that we have put in a number of bids for Santa Cruz." "He is a player I have worked with before and I think that he could help us." "Obviously it has been going on for some time now and it is obviously Blackburn's prerogative to turn down any offer we make." "We are trying to move that process forward."
JAL Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 According to Ceefax Fottball Gossip, City have allegedly old Us that Sturridge wont be part of any deal..If this this so there could be sonething going on behind the scenes..... Do you not read Nicko on Nickos thread. To clarify, Nicko stated Sturridge wants to see out this season, see what happens in the summer regarding wether or not hes signs a new contract with City. Clearly keeping his options open come the summer sounds like a smart kid - sign him on Sam.

sambo Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 SSN said he is starting today. Hope he gets a goal!
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 SSN said he is starting today. Hope he gets a goal! Just as well City are out of the cup otherwise he'd be cuptied. Another excuse for City to keep the price low
Hughesy Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hopefully he wont sulk and will be professional. 2 goals from him today would do very nicely.
waggy Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hopefully he wont sulk and will be professional. 2 goals from him today would do very nicely. well the last 4 games i saw him play,he did nothing but sulk, sooner he is gone the better
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 well the last 4 games i saw him play,he did nothing but sulk, sooner he is gone the better From what I saw, he was not the only sulking when palying under the Ince regime was he?
Tris Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Do you not read Nicko on Nickos thread. It's not compulsory you know. It's not a prerequisite for mere mortals to be allowed to post in other topics.
waggy Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 From what I saw, he was not the only sulking when palying under the Ince regime was he? your right there our captian has a lot to answer for
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 your right there our captian has a lot to answer for I can't think of any one player who wasn't sulking or injured under Ince. Unfair to pick out the captain and star forward.
thenodrog Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 your right there our captian has a lot to answer for Wrong! It's the last effin manager who has to answer for........ or are you still unable to accept that waggy?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Theno, while Ince was terrible, saying the players are blameless is stupid. They made a complete arse out of so many games with individual errors. Nelsen was terrible at times. Basic errors which he should have dealt with easily.
