philipl Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Is this a bit of spin to keep everyone onside ! Whoever invented this story its certainly a very good one look forward to seeing it in the Manchester Mirror. Are you such a miserable person that you cannot handle a bit of good news?

JAL Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Are you such a miserable person that you cannot handle a bit of good news? Gullible or what ? Big Sam has publicly stated that Roque asked to leave then we get this story, OK, if everyone buys into it then all well and good, its excellent PR for the club and Roque i've no problems with that. Should we not question Philipl is that what you are asking are we not Blackburn.

And there isn't a Manchester Mirror as far as I am aware.
gumboots Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 what did he say in his interview last night? i got into the ground too late to hear it.
Bobby G Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 What does Roque say in the interview on our official website?
sanlorenzo Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 What does Roque say in the interview on our official website? Rocky says he is happy at Blackburn and that has always been the case and he is looking forward to scoring goals and helping the cause and also that Brett Emerton will be missed but the team is healthy and he believes success is at hand. Once he scores the floodgates will open. Rocky is a real professional and I am hoping for a brace tomorrow. Up the Rovers! Up Rocky!
Guest Kamy100 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Roque: Rovers are like my family Now lets hope the goals start to flow!
BuckyRover Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hmm, this seems to contradict with what nicko was saying? Who do I believe?: A mercenary* Premiership footballer? OR A red top journalist? Tough decisions *Mercenary: Refers to Premiership footballers in general and NOT Roque in particular^ ^Thought I would point that out before somebody decided to flame me.

Maybe you should listen to what your manager said today... Roque wanted to leave.
Mozzer Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 no doubt he wanted to leave with the way man city are going santa cruz could even be a blackburn player this time next year.. nicko..have you any insight to what the team will be tomoz???santa cruz has hardly been great in last few games and roberts and mcarthy have-interesting to see who starts..
CrazyIvan Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 To be fair, he never mentioned wanting to leave in that article because it wouldn't go down well. It's a case of geeing up support for a player who is still a Rover rather than him getting booed because he wants to leave. I don't think the article contradicts Nicko at all.

Do you think Roque will start tomorrow?
rebelmswar Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Do you think Roque will start tomorrow? I do Benny and him up front. He needs a goal and then I think he will be better, if he scores tomorrow I can see quite a celebration. The plus I see from all these stories is that at the very least he is not whining to the press about wanting to go. That in itself is a blessing.
gumboots Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Maybe you should listen to what your manager said today... Roque wanted to leave. But when push came to shove he was well enough behaved not to throw a tantrum like a 2 year old to get his own way.
sanlorenzo Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 But when push came to shove he was well enough behaved not to throw a tantrum like a 2 year old to get his own way. Couldn't he have put in a transfer request a la Shea Given if moving meant that much to him. I say we move on from this discussion. He says he is happy, wants to do his best for the Rovers and is not whining or complaining. I say get behind him and cheer him on. Nicko do you not agree?
Iceman Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Funny hey, when the opening was there for a move he was saying he wanted to leave. Now that the move did not materialise, he has no choice but to try and win over the fans again. Sounds very similar to Benni and his desire to move to Chelsea.

Go to the BBC website where there is a 5 minute candid interview with Rocky. The guy is straightforward and honest and he should have the fans wholehearted support. At least 2 goals tomorrow Mr. Santa Cruz and a Blackburn win.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 He's not playing that badly and he has had chances in recent matches to score goals. You just get the feeling if he gets a goal or two and builds his confidence up then he will start to replicate some of the form from last season.
philipl Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 THe BBC Radio interview The quality of questions from the press was really poor. The intro was about joining a club challenging for things- the Rovers are in the FA Cup whilst Spurs and City are with us in relegation trouble and challenging for nothing. Honestly! And that was a Radio Lancashire voice as well. I love Roque's Lancashire "Luv".

philipl Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Brad talking to an American audience about Roque
tony gale's mic Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 So why keep him if he's going to be on the bench for games like today? Either we should have taken the £20 million for a striker who has scored just 3 this season, or we give him an extended run in the side and let him justify us keeping him. Because I very much doubt we'll get anywhere near as much for him this summer, less so if he doesn't play all of our games.
