Majiball Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Because of This? To be fair I'm quite pleased he has a review clause should we go down 45K is a lot in the championship. I just don't think we'll have to use it.

Exiled_Rover Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Because of This? "Relegation would mean savage cuts in the Ewood Park payroll, with several top stars moving on and Allardyce having to thrash out new terms." Do we have any stars?
dingles staying down 4ever Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Pleasure. I was going to remind you about Roque signing in the first place - or Givet. By the way, does nobody read the Sunday People? I was expecting a right old slaughtering today... No we don't read the People As for the article, Its good to see Rovers have built something reason for Sam to keep Rovers up. Anyway as I've said on another thread, it will depend on whether anybody would want Sam if Rovers were relegated. They weren't exactly queueing up for him before and he had plenty of time to work his magic and failed if we go down. If Rovers do get relegated, the question would be Would rovers be too bothered if he left? Not too sure BTW, i think he'll keep us up.....just.
nicko Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 No we don't read the People You should. And you just did.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 You should. And you just did. Did not. Me dad told me the jist of the story. Gave up reading the people 15 years ago. Always seemed too Anti-rovers for my liking. Although it did carry an exclusive of us signing patrick Anderson before anybody else did. see i do give credit where it is due
Hughesy Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Nothing wrong with the article nicko - common sense that we would have to cut wages and sell people to rebuild us. Thats normal and its expected to be honest. Dont worry though...we wont be going down. The gap is staying!
Billy Castell Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 We should try and get Coyle if the BFS will leave story is true!
tony gale's mic Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 We should try and get Coyle if the BFS will leave story is true! Coyle wouldn't leave one team he's doing alright with in the Championship, to join another rival team in the same division where expectations are greater and chances of freefall probably higher.
tony gale's mic Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 If I was him and not a Rovers fan, I certainly wouldn't do it if we got relegated.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 To be fair I'm quite pleased he has a review clause should we go down 45K is a lot in the championship. Indeed. It'll be interesting to see if we still need a Chairman on nearly 300k when our turnover is slashed by half. Or a Marketing Manager on however much when our crowds are back under 5 figures. Questions I would have asked if I was Sam.
rover6 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Eh? Roque stated in a Fox TV interview a week ago that he wanted to go... Is that not specific enough? Roque is not telling two mutually exclusive stories. To me, it is obvious from what he is saying to the British media that he wants a new challenge at another club but he respects Rovers and will engineer his move in a way that will preserve amicable relations with Blackburn Rovers. It's not as if he's saying to the British media: "I'm staying for good!!!". Far from it.
LeftWinger Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Or a Marketing Manager on however much when our crowds are back under 5 figures. How much difference do our attendances make to our overall turnover anyway? Our average attendance this season is 23,346 - which is 8,021 below capacity. If we sold these 8,021 seats for every Premier League home game at an average of £14 (again I don't know what our average ticket price is), then we'd make an extra £2.133m per year from league gate receipts (obviously there would be extra sales of programmes/food etc too). That's the equivalent of paying one player 41k a week. Most of our revenue is TV money - I think we should just let U16's watch for free. We'd barely lose any gate receipts, boost the crowds and build up support for the future. Give me the job as Marketing Manager
Lathund Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Thanks for continually reminding us all when you get something right. Something you'd never do, eh?
Shabani Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Roque has the ability to rip Hull apart on Sunday If he turns up with his shooting boots it could make our task much more easier
BuckyRover Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Something you'd never do, eh? He was right about Ince don't you know? He felt it in his water.
OscarRaven Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 He was right about Ince don't you know? Really? Are you sure? I must have missed that one.

Unfortunately the evidence is that when youngsters come to pay the full amount, they don't renew. The average take for a seat at Ewood some three or four seasons ago was £13 and we couldn't sell tickets then. It can't be much more than that now - if at all.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Not like you to have a moan... The point is the player is telling the truth to his media mates back home - and then telling another story over here. I felt the same way about the Alan Shearer affair. If players want to go, just say so. I also find it amusing that the fixed price clause is confirmed...after many did some whining when I first wrote it. Nicko - surely a player should just keep his trap shut - and agree things in private with the club ? Rovers obviously knew that Santa would want to leave at the end of this season - hence the clause - so he has no real reason to push it so publically. You will have a better idea than me - but I always hold Henning Berg in high regard - as it seemed (though I am very much on the outside) that his transfer to United was done in a gentleman like fashion allowing Rovers to get both a reasonable fee and replacement before he moved on. Can't remember him moaning in the press about want to move - like Santa

If the worst comes to the worst it will cover the subscriptions for my golf club for many years to come. You really should listen to me and others amongst the more cerebral members on here a bit more in future instead of succumbing to the effects of illogical and juvenile collective euphoria on facebook. I thank you.
colin Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Great article on Santa Cruz in The Guardian here Enjoy 1 month early

I'm sure our 300K a year chairmans wages are not such a burden as say RSC's 2.6M or Sam's 2.34M.
