ABBEY Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 all round you're probably right. He's important defending as well as attacking. not when hes injured he isnt...i reckon he will play 3 time this season if were lucky.

gazsimm Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 why? he is always injured and has history of it not just here either. He is without a doubt the most gifted and all round player we have got at the club at the moment. He has been unlucky this season, with the niggling injures he has been getting and the serive to him early on in the season was very poor.
gumboots Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Injuries do make a difference but it doen't change his being our best player - just our most useful/useless.
gazsimm Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 should have took the money and replace him with who??? To have a player like Santa Cruz around at the moment is surley going to help our chances of survival
ABBEY Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 a quote from my german pal who i met in denver ..... *****jens***** the guy was pure crap and always injured here. they signed him for like 5m € when he was like 16 or 17 as they thought he´d be invaluable in 3-4 years and look how it turned out for them. hope you enjoyed your hols.
gazsimm Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 not when hes injured he isnt...i reckon he will play 3 time this season if were lucky. Has somebody said he's going to be out for a long time then??????

Has somebody said he's going to be out for a long time then?????? not that i know of but he has a track record.
gazsimm Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 gaz he was renowned for his injuries before we signed him.Not having a go at him just stating fact. you are sounding like Rafa now!!!, I know he has had injurys in the past, but he still is a great player and last season he proved that. He has not been the same this season, but i don't think he has had good service to him for most of the season and if all three of the forwards we have were fit to play, i would pick Santa anyday!!!
waggy Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 we could lose 10 million for keeping him for a extra few months, worth it if we stay up,but he is never on the pitch, whatch him skiddle off to paraguay and play in the wc qualifier

Lets hope its not a serious injury and we have him back playing for us soon
gazsimm Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 why do i sound like rafa? im not doubting his talent but look at proper and over this season.. just because you told me a fact thats all!!! I agree he has not been the same player which we had last season , for serveral reasons. I am hoping and have my fingers crossed that he will come back soon and try and produce some of the form he has shown at Rovers in the past and now we have Diouf and MGP (back to some form) on the wings, he may well get some quality service as well.
thenodrog Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 We're desperate for it. You shouldn't sell your best players, but I wouldn't expect the trustees to come up with much in the way of transfer funds. It's a tough call. It's not really Bryan. A club like us needs to buy cheap and sell dear in order to survive. We miss em but the money received for the likes of Bentley and Duff must have been a Godsend. Really we need a production line scouting and coaching system that unearths and sells one every two years or so. Thats why I always insisted that we do whatever possible to keep Hughes. He kept unearthing gems for diddly squat. We'd profit massively if we offloaded Samba and warnock too. The key issue that Hughes manipulated so well was to have as good a replacement lined up to replace them. When Bellamy went Benni came in, when Neill went Warnock came in, when Todd went Samba and RSC turned up. Forget 'investing' in a football club. (It's an even more stupid term that it is a way of blowing wealth). Investments are best made in managers and scouts.
broadsword Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Can't really argue with that. We don't really have a hope of keeping decent players for too long, unless they're at the end of their careers. It's just a shame Ince blew so much of the cash, and no doubt he'll want a whopping wonga super-soaraway compo payment.

novella Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 what ever people say about his injuries etc. the guy was bought for 3.5 million which is sod all in this day and age. He has given rovers a good service and some good times. There is no chance we will lose cash on him now, either he will stay at rovers and be a bargain or he will go for 5 million + easily. Win Win really.

Amo Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Is there any woman that doesn't fancy him btw? My sister added herself to the fanclub.

grinder Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Is there any woman that doesn't fancy him btw? My sister added herself to the fanclub. Don't know about fancying him but don't fancy him to score again for Rovers. Should have taken the offer when it was on the table. Absolutely no meaningful contribution since and doubt if there will be another before the season end. Meanwhile we sit on an asset whose value is falling as fast as shares in the Royal Bank of Scotland.

And without making a similar quality signing (btw who of any quality would come to a relegation threatened club without King's ransom remuneration demands) what psychological damage would have been done to the rest of the squad (and the supporters) if they had seen the club cashing in on the best player and by doing so putting a strong signal out to all that they were resigned to and preparing for relegation? The rest of the players would have been left demoralised and for the rest of the season would have been looking to stay clear of serious injury whilst searching for a new club. The fans would have been turning away in droves too. Not a helpful boost to club morale imo. btw grinder I take my hat off to you....... for knowing in January that RSC would get injured in March! That takes real intelligence.

That takes real intelligence. Well I'm not sure the fans will be turning up in droves just to see him in the back of the players dugout but if he's as fanciable as has been implied then maybe so. In fact maybe we should stick hold next season just to keep the ladies (presumably !) happy. As far as the injury thing he does have a little bit of a track record and indeed hadn't exactly been firing on all cylinders before January had he ? Recurrent patellar tendinitis unfortunately has a habit of recurring(!) and needs a lot of rest. He has clearly been playing when not fully fit because he is our best striker hence he has aggravated it again. Its a bit like selling a car thats you know has been troublesome - its all a matter of timing (says someone who should have sold his but has just been landed with a £1000 bill for a new catalytic converter!!)
ABBEY Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 great to see him have time to pose for photos and sign autographs today, my little lad was well chuffed to have his shirt signed.
roversmum Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 lol caught my friend cosying up to him as I arrived! Shame about his knees, he looks pretty fit otherwise
