they_think_its_all_rover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Capello's watching... doesn't that tell Dave you don't have to play for one of the "big 4" to be considered?

rovers1993 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 reid does not know how to cross a ball... he gets into good position but his crossing is abysmal.
rovers1993 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 defoe going close twice! we need to step it up. bents needs to move to right and get some crosses in..
Russ Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Roberts is just hopeless. Has he managed to control a ball even once in this game yet?
Exiled_Rover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 We are crying out for a quick, pacy, skillful striker.
Russ Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 We are crying out for a quick, pacy, skillful striker. i.e. Defoe!!!
Poita Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Reid is a liability. He seems to have lost his passing touch and speed.
rovers1993 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 just what i was thinking... defoe would be perfect with RSC.
Russ Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Has Bentley injured his left foot or something? twice now he's been on the left and wasted a good crossing opportunity by using the outside of his right foot.
brfcshabba Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 None of our players seem to be able to cross. When they do there is nobody there
Exiled_Rover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 i.e. Defoe!!! Well yeah, but we don't have £9m.
AggyBlue Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Has Bentley injured his left foot or something? twice now he's been on the left and wasted a good crossing opportunity by using the outside of his right foot. I think the first one was Vogel.
jonv Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 vogel has been impressive and even showing a bit of passion. the commentators won't stfu about how they feel Hughes has gone the formation wrong today. In part Id like to see Reid and Emerton swap positions. Reid trying to cross the ball today is laughable. Dead match, looks like a pre-season friendly. And can somebody please shoot the bell boy and the guy who plays trumpet that sounds like its got a shoe stuck in the pipe.
AggyBlue Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 From all the players on the pitch, four players are really standing out for me. Reid, Emerton, Pederson and Roberts
Exiled_Rover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 From all the players on the pitch, four players are really standing out for me. Reid, Emerton, Pederson and Roberts Standing out for what reason? For mine, Roberts' only attribute has been neutralised by Distin (who's just as big and fast as Jason). Reid has looked poor on the ball and very shakey at the back. Pedersen and Emerton have done very little right or wrong. The standout players so far are Nelsen, Bentley and Vogel.
AggyBlue Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Standing out for what reason? All the wrong reasons. Glaringly obvious that they just aren't good enough.
B.R.F.C Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Reid hasn't done too badly IMO but Ped has given the ball away so many times its laughable. Kranjcar coming on for Pompey...oh dear.
brian_gallagher85 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Fun/pointless fact: If James had been on the pitch instead of Ashdown, Portsmouth's entire starting XI had been black. Kranjcar on for Utaka
rover6 Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 If Roberts had a bit of technical ability, he'd be great. Sadly, he severely lacks and as a result is imo not good enough as a starter. (Useful sub, though).
LeChuck Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Well yeah, but we don't have £9m. No, but we did have £2 million for Florent Sinama Pongolle...
Presty On Tour Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 imo gamst was our best player in the first half. remember this is an away game, we have quietened the crowd apart from the bloody bell and have kept it tight at the back with no goals conceded.
Russ Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I refer back to someone's comment last week that Roberts "can trap the ball further than most people can kick it!" - not good enough. I agree that Vogel has been very impressive so far today, kept possesion and kept things ticking over nicely in midfield... exactly what we signed him for really. Will be vital for us next season.
AggyBlue Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 imo gamst was our best player in the first half. Johnson has him in his pocket
