USRoverME Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Its a preseason friendly, all I care about is the players getting a run out, getting used to each other again, getting used to Ince, and getting away with injuries. Anyone more worried about 3-1 than MGP after this game needs a priority re-adjust, in my opinion, and its simply that, my opinion.

Iceman Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 7 1st team players, that played in a champions league final, against an african club, where tackles flew in.mmm, and that was also a pre season friendly.didnt look like united's players wanted to lose, despite it being a friendly.
Majiball Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 OK we lost but it all happened in the second halve, after a lot of subs were made. the reserves had there chance to impress then. The 1st halve was 0-0 so not that bad really!
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 We better get the deck chairs put away before weekend or we could be on the wrong end of two canings. Holidays are over now boys, it's showtime on Friday. Re- Utd , that attitude ( no such thing as a friendly) is why they are where they are.
Flopsy Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 wats ur prob m8? OK will do,in most of my posts i have written properly Read the rules. Text speak and Warez is not allowed. Carry on and you posting rights will be removed.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Ok island, like Ribble said 4 games to go,new signings wil probably not feature.so wil those new players be on the bench 1st game of the season?whats the best way to get the best out of a team?you want ur best 11 to play as much together, which would make it easier to adapt.the likes of kane, hodge, treacy, judge, wil not see much football this season,so what exactly is the purpose in that. Maybe not to push your 1st eleven too soon ? Don't seem to be able to win Rovers managers - they either don't play the youngsters enough - or play them too much. Who would be a manager
gumboots Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Maybe not to push your 1st eleven too soon ? Don't seem to be able to win Rovers managers - they either don't play the youngsters enough - or play them too much. Who would be a manager Also Ince has not had the benefit of seeing these younger players in reserve matches like Hughes had. He needs to evaluate his whole squad and not just his starting 11. He's going to be able to put 7 on the subs bench so he needs to know who might be worth a place there. He needs to be able to see who fits playing in various formations. I'd rather we hadn't lost but I'd rather we lose now and not when the season starts so if a loss now helps us get it right when the season starts, I'll take that.
Ewood Spark Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 The year we won the Championship did we not get done 3-0 in a friendly at Hibs ?? No ... that was '92 .. it was in fact Alan Shearers debut and we were awful. Pre-season '94 saw us beaten at Pittodrie against Aberdeen, at Hampden against Celtic and Wembly against ManUre ... again we were awful in all three.
67splitscreen Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Some earlier post, questioned where certain players where, IE. Dunny. Despite a spectacular mountain backdrop to the Kufstein Arena, the game was a very low-key affair. Paul Ince once again took the opportunity to look at all of the players fit and available for selection, Samba (back), Khizanishvili and Vogel (thigh) all missed the game, whilst Bentley had already departed back to England with a hamstring injury, as had David Dunn as his partner is due to give birth.
tony gale's mic Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 whilst Bentley had already departed back to England with a hamstring injury Yes..."hamstring injury"...
rebelmswar Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Yes..."hamstring injury"... Hamstrung chairman more like. He will be crucified if he doesn't get him at Spurs now.
Veevs Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Dont mind the loss hopefully Ince would of seen how past it old folwer is.. and had a look at how competitive his players are.. *oops*.. gained them some match fitness and not injured half the first team on the off.. And of course allot of the first team out or not signed yet lol.. But the only bit that really does my nut in is the formation and team structure... Anyone know what formation we played we had three strikers, 2 central midfield and a left midfielder (treacy) in the first half..Emerton in CMD with MGP.. we moved Warnock to central defense for the second half.. played Reid as a right back in the first half.. Was he trying to see how a 4 man midfield would work with someone lightweight but creative (ish) in the middle (Carlos) and someone alittle all action (Castillio).. thats my only thought to why the middle of the park.. dont have a clue about the rest
islander200 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Read the rules. Text speak and Warez is not allowed. Carry on and you posting rights will be removed. Did you not read my post?I started it with a bit of sarcasim anr then said i would use proper words so what is your problem?
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hoping we play Derbyshire up front during some of these friendly's. He is so wasted on that right wing, a player with his natural goalscoring ability should be playing upfront.
Eddie Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Don't really care about the result, just want everyone to get through the match unscathed. I watched Arsenal at the weekend and they were terrible against a lower-league side. Anyone fear that Arsenal might go down? Get a grip guys. Just about fitness, letting Ince have a look and maybe a bit to do with blooding new guys, which we haven't had the chance to do yet.
gazsimm Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 any news on MGP injury from last night, i heard he got took of earlier on with an injury. I wonder how goal king Fowler played last night.
alexanders Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I think it was just a knock and his dad told a Norwegian Newspaper that he thinks he will be fit very soon.
Iceman Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Did you not read my post?I started it with a bit of sarcasim anr then said i would use proper words so what is your problem? Flops is not going to like that reply one bit. I also use alot of msn text, but thats only when im in the bus,o r at footy, and im using my phone to post...
John Howarth Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 FRIENDLY SETBACK FOR ROVERS Blackburn crashed to a 3-1 defeat to Bundesliga newcomers TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in a friendly in Austria tonight. end Does anybody know if any programme was issued for the game or simply a team sheet?
ptholt Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hi folks, quick update from here on the sunny Algarve, I bought my tickets for the tournament today. Prior to match day only two places have tickets for sale - Casa de benfica - think this is the benfica fan club for the town its on the first floor above a super market and is closed more than its open... blue bay tours - a travel agent in Monte Gordo (little place next door to villa real). on match days tickets are available from the ground, however blue bay have had no allocation of 50 euro tickets only 20, 30 and 40 so not sure if they centre ones have been snapped up by fan clubs/prawn sarnie brigade or what, so decided not to take a chance and we bought ours today. There are several price options of ticket to choose from based on where you want to be (its mixed seating), a nice Portuguese lady showed my wife round the stadium hehe. Basically one centre stand seems closer than the other and tickets in the right hand stand are cheaper for some reason. (right hand looking from above). 20 Euro - behind the goals. 30 Euro - further away right hand stand 40 Euro - left and right of closer left stand 50 Euro - closer centre stands facing the centre circle The above price is for ALL 3 games, so keep your tickets! each match has a little tear off bit. some useful google earth bits and pieces - map of local area centred on the stadium Google earth pic Those staying in Monte Gordo have an approx 30 min walk down the dead straight EN511, straight across a roundabout and the stadium is just on your right. Coming from the motorway its straight through town till you hit the roundabout with a left and right only and its on your left. The normal footballers pre season camps are just down the road from me in Vilamoura and Vale do Lobo, however they are quite expensive (barca was here last week) and i would bet sporting and benfica have grabbed them, plus celtic are also here this week. Anyone know where rovers are staying? From me near Vilamoura its an hour to the stadium so doubt they will be going from here, somewhere more local to Tavira would be my guess at the bigger hotels with decent facilities.
jim mk2 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Liverpool drew 0-0 with Hertha Berlin in Germany tonight in front of a 51,000 crowd.
Hughesy Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Sell out expected for the cup in portugal. Ticket info
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Is the game on friday on tv? Don't think its being shown anywhere in the UK, haven't seen it advertised. Its likely it will be on Portugese TV i assume as these are huge clubs in the country.

Can I just point out that this information was posted BEFORE the meetings with staff at the Stadium were concluded last night, therefore disregard the information about tickets for Rovers fans. I know you mean well but we don't want Rovers fans to get mixed messages.
