I've now sen MGP take two penalties. One against Walsall and one tonight. They've both been smashed so hard the keeper has no chance. If I had my way he'd be on penalty duties should Benni not be on the pitch.

The admiral does us proud!!We win 7-6 yeahhh!!!!I think that's the icing ain't it!!lol

Decent penalties from all Rovers' players. Why the hell don't we give the responsibility to Gamst (or is it back to Pedersen now?;)), what a penalty! Looks like he has trained a lot of smashing the penalty to the left of the keeper.

Think Brown looked decent today, but will again get limited chances as our 2nd choice. But maybe he'll get lucky and Robinson gets an injury during the season. We've been very lucky injury wise with Brad the last few years.

I have a feeling I'm going to be corrected, but wasn't the last time we won a penalty shootout at Newcastle in our relegation season during the cup?

2002-03 we beat walsall at ewood in the league cup 3rd round - the start of our defence, correctly stated above

and only lost one since the newcastle one i think - bournemouth at the start of hughesy's reign

Penalty win against a top European club?! I'm still having nightmares over Sheffield United in the 90s! I can finally sleep peacefully with a smile on my face.

I WAS over that until you mentioned it! I can still remember it now.

Oh the horror........ :(

Watched via live stream.

Game was played at a very fast pace, will of done the lads a world of good. Be interesting to see what team we play only 24 hours later. Good penalties too!

Looks like Olson and Judge may get a chance from the bench this season.

Did they try to get the ball down and play a bit,or was it pretty much the usual Rovers way?

Far from the old rovers. Not much lumping it forward. Quick wing play, driving runs from midfielders, very quick passing. The defence still needs some working and we still need to find the perfect partner for Roque. Best performers tonight - Pedersen by far, Emerton, Reid & Nelsen
