Peters a numbscull. He really needs to make an impression on the new management so he tries a silly penalty chip and laughs when he misses.

I'm sure there is still a combination of results that can allow us to win this cup though !!

Benfica Win Sporting 1-0 and also win on penalties. That means Rovers take the cup as they have scored the most goals. Only option I can come up with.

Lost pens!

I'd blame Peter for being a complete idiot.

He(Sergio) seemed like it was just a jolly and didnt really seem to care that much would that please Paul Ince or is it all part of the commoraderie.

Having seen the second half and the goals i'd say young Frank will never be a premiership goalie and why on earth did Hughes give Benni Mac a staggering pay rise, that could be a financial milestone for Rovers.

Only two positive for me from the game were Jason Roberts and the possibility of converting young Treacy into a left back.

Hello Everyone,

yeah I managed to catch the game it was an ok game considering we practically had a reserve team out there!. However as has been said we have to hope benfica beat sporting in the game and on penalties then we will get the cup let's be positive you never know. Last year Benfica beat Sporting in the same comp I think so we might get lucky. Although some not so great points from the game what was Fielding doing their equalising goal he should have saved. To get beat at that near post is a poor error from the goalie and from so far out should have been able to get to it, and on that display as has been said he will not be a premier league goalie anytime soon. I do however agree the pay-rise for Benni could prove a financial millstone round our neck in the future. I thought today he had a very good game 2 very calm pens and led the front line very well got most flick ons shame no-one was round him to collect them. I think he is showing some good form in preseason with his goals and link-up play I think this season will be his season. so all in all loads of positives. I did think that Peter did embarass himself with that pen he is never good enough to try chipping the keeper he has really let us down he had the cup in our grasp and threw it away by being clever, now players like Benni/Santa are intelligent and clever players to try something like that and succeed, but you can in no way say Peter comes into that category he certainly doesn't have the guile,know-how or savvy to be able to pull something like that off he needs to realise he is not Ronaldo/Teddy sheringham in disguise he is Peter and should not go beyond his limits. Have to say why oh why did Samba take the 1st penalty he needs to get on the training pitch and keep practicing them cos that was awful. Looking at it I think Fowler should be given the early bath he is absolutely clueless did nothing like last night's game and what was that free-kick all about passing straight back to their keeper then look round bemused saying why did no-one go for it at the end of the day his penalties are ok but I think fitness wise he is well off the pace and should be put out of his misery asap

good night everyone
