Anyone know if this is anywhere near Lagos.

Katie's parents have a 5 bed villa near there so could be free accomodation for me if it's not too far away.

Woohoo

41mins drive Ricky! I'm staying in Lagos, rovers couldn't have timed it any better. That katie of yours is coming in handy!

That's where modes is staying - 41 mins drive he says (i.e. that's your lift sorted as well :))!

If the games are being played where Oklahoma said, ie on the border then there is now way you would do it from Lagos in 41 mins. I've stayed in several places on the Algarve and last time we went to Carvoeiro which is about 40 mins from Faro and Lagos was another 20 mins further. The border is about 30 mins at least from faro the other way i'd say.

However the link to the Rovers website said the games were being played in Albufeira which would be great for those having a few days out there and going on the beer, and also a lot closer to Lagos for Modes & Ricky.

Google Maps says 89mins

Linky

Think it's this one

Vila Real St. Antonio Stadium in Albufeira, i hope so anyway. Otherwise that's back past the airport and a right trek.

Yeah that's where i got the Albuferia thing from. I can't find the stadium online though, maybe the name is different from what is in the article?

anyone know how previous tournaments have worked, as it looks as if 2 teams will have to play on consecutive days and 1 team gets a days rest?

also what if everyone wins a game 1-0 is there a 3 way penalty shootout? haha

I no its only a friendly but its a nice shiny trophy to add to the cabinet.

After a bit more noseying around, the thing looks like it's at the athletics stadium towards the north-east edge of the town.

So it should be the 41 min drive from Lagos, not 89.

This one?

Where's Grooby dooby doo when you need him?

Edit: Sunderland are playing Sporting at the Albufeira Stadium on 20th July, so it's likely to be there. Link

Jordan you could have actually got flights for £157 from Blackpool with a better departure time

I did notice the cheaper flights however if i was flying from blackpool then i would need to pay for petrol and parking whereas at leeds i can get a lift for free.

The game is not in Albufeira, it's in Vila real de S.António.

The confusion's arisen from the LET, which has said it's in Albufeira. As far as I can tell it's only mentioned there (and in this thread).

It makes no difference to my booking flights but I'll hold off booking accommodation til the club confirms.

The club website definitely said Albufeira which added to the confusion i'm sure.

It doesn't take much to confuse me these days :)

It doesn't say that now so I'm assuming it's Vila Real St. Antonio (and looking at Google Maps it has the better stadium of the 2).

Modes, looks like you're driving the entrire breadth of Portugal, then.

They have now changed it but the LET has run what was on the Official site yesterday. They need to move it to Alburfeira stadium, it's getting more difficult for me to make this sound like a fun adventure to the missus. If your staying with Ricky in Lagos it's the same trip for you, only you'll be walking :tu::lol:

I reckon I will be walking, but from a sumptuous hotel in downtown Vila Real de Wossname. Or something.

lol, i may only be able to make 1 game out of the 2 if it is there, unless they are on consecutive days, then i may be able to sell it as a trip to see the sights of Portugal.

God i go all the way to Portugal and then Ricky follows me! Typical  Katie coming with you?

Few nights on the town in Lagos?

Yeah think she has to come as her parents own the Villa lol. Don't think she'd be too chuffed if I went without her.

Just debating wether to stay in Lagos for a few days and then head across to the other place or just spend all of my time where the matches are. Thinking flights to Seville may be just as easy as flights to Faro. Doesn't look much further really.
