Does anyone know when Ryan will leave the squad to join the Olympics team or has he already gone?

Our back four needs sorting out and Ince has to put out his strongest 11 next week VS NAC. Winterburn was bought in to improve our defence but from the performances I've seen we haven't changed, if not we've been worse. 12 goals conceded in 5 pre-season games is a shambles no matter what people say. We cannot afford to concede sloppy goals because the quality in the premiership will slaughter us.

No need to hit the panic button just yet. People will say it's just a friendly but we had a pretty strong squad out today. Ince needs to sort out his 1st 11 and quick. We need to a good performance next week to ease the fears and hopefully we can go into the Everton game very optimistic and on a high!

Prediction based upon logic?

What arguments do you have to suggest that we are all going to die?

This message board is already depressed and talking about death ain't gonna help ;)

Just making assumptions based on the commonly held view amongst the medical and scientific community that all human beings eventually will expire within a certain lifespan, admittedly not taking into consideration certain religous views, to which I don't give any credence anyway.

Just to keep this Rovers related however, I would be willing to listen to arguments that Tugay is the exception to this rule and will still be performing football related miracles long after we have all gone and the planet is inhabited by a race of super intelligent apes. (Maybe I should copyright that idea before the Planet of the Apes people make another film, hmmm...)

Ince:

still 2 weeks to go.

Robinson played well....even if score says otherwise.

Biggest difference with MK job............he has to monitor players from all over the world and time is short to get to know who is available.

Meeting with chairman next week to decide how much he can spend and where he's going to spend it.

Said he needed a couple of players and later said he needed to bring in 3 or 4 to freshen things up.

Refused to admit that Pennant was a target.

That's about all i remember!

I don't understand the constant fascination with playing players out of position - and Hughes and Souness were just as guilty of this really.

Bert was awful on the right wing for three seasons, and a revelation when converted to RB. I don't see why we particularly need a new right back nor do I know why its being mooted he switches back to the right wing.

Reid has always looked dodgy at right back ever since he was signed by Souness. He needs to be in central midfield.

Mokoena has only ever demonstrated he can play in one position, sweeping up behind a four man midfield. No use in a four man midfield and at centre half?

Blimey.

Agreed - why can't the management see it?

He left last Tuesday. Will be back for the start of the season, which is good because I don't think we should be playing Mokoena in defence if we can help it at all!

Just got back from the game. First half was alright, second half we were poor - hardly got hold of the ball.

How did Judge play?

He played alright, showed one or two good moments. Unfortunately he gets pushed off the ball quite a lot and never really got the better of their left back. I think he can do a job for us, but he's definately not a replacement for Bentley.

Nelsen will be back before the 1st game. RSC is fine.

No need to panic yet lads - those who watched the benfica match the other week will know we played very, very well that night - but it means nothing like todays didnt either - its purely about fitness and finding out what different positions players can do a job in - hence why he will of tried Treacy on the right, Axe in defence etc.

We have Nelsen & Villanueva to come into the side, aswell as 3 or 4 signings. Hopefully we can get a midfielder before next weekend, right back (reserve or not) arrives monday.

Good news!

What about Dunn?

Didnt mention Dunn, just that Roque took a back on his achiles but they have assessed and it will only be a couple of days.

Back home now. God we were poor.

Mokoena isn't a centre back and Reid isn't a right back. Lets get back to playing our best players in their best positions.

If you want to play Reid it has to be at CM, if not, don't play him... simple as that.

Can you imagine the widespread panic on here if you just followed English cricket and their tripe results ? Blackburn and the surrounding area would be akin to bridgend and the lemmings leap point.

Who cares a jot if we got stuffed 4-2 in a friendly ? The players got match time under their belts and got a little bit fitter.

There are many other Premier clubs who got a bashing by lesser clubs.

Can I just remind people of a horrifying fact.

After South Africa's recent African Nations humiliation, it was concluded by their manager, pundits and fans alike that Mokoena's best position was CB and he should not venture forward ever again. He was that poor in midfield.

Whether you wish to accept the fact or not, centre half is Mokoena's best position. The defensive midfield ultra-negative sweeper role he has played is not a genuine position - just like Jon Douglas left wing is not a genuinely feasible position for a "normal" side. It is an example of a circumstance-driven improvised role. (Think Cygan at left back for Arsenal).

Until we are at the foot of the table, in the throes of relegation fever and resorting to agricultural tactics to eke out points, Mokoena should be nowhere near our team.

So far in pre-season he has given younger players far more chance than MH ever did.

Is that a positive? If so why? We are running a football club not a bloody kindergarten. Football is about winning not theorising.

Full points for moronic posting thenodrog.

Why don't you ask why that fool Arsene Wenger is obsessed with the youth development of his side? Why does he always shy from signing older players. Because he believes in giving good youngsters a chance an opportunity to develop and fulfil their potential.

It's called internal progression. A sign of being freed from the yoke of the hyper-inflated senior player transfer market. A sign of benefiting from the heavy investment in youth football. A sign that the management have the character, intelligence and foresight to give players time and opportunities to improve, develop and succeed.

A team that is winning in competitive games and bringing through young players at the same time is the sign of uniquely excellent club success and management. Whilst Ince has not proven himself worthy of this accolade, it is ALWAYS a good sign if young players are coming through and puting in good performances. Alan Judge and Treacy have done fairly well, and that is at least one positive to be drawn.

The real test is once the season starts and the efforts Ince puts to bringing through young players to the first team.

At this moment in time the glass is more than half empty and every Rovers fan should recognise the fact and not bury their heads in the sand by saying we'll see in two months time.

Wolves play in the same div as Burnley and I suggest that all the 'Paul ince was a winner'.... 'lets wait til Christmas' brigade would have a mighty different viewpoint IF we had had the same result against the Dingles today.
