RovertheHill Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Friedel Berg Nelsen Hendry© Le Saux Bentley Tugay Sherwood Duff Santa Cruz Shearer Subs Flowers Jansen Dunn Neill Sutton Bugger - you named MY team (apart from the fact that I'd have Bohinen instead of Neill as sub and possibly Bellamy ahead of Dunny). Shame there's no room for Super-Atko...

RoyRover Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 My all time 11 is pretty similar to everyone else's. Friedal Neill Berg Hendy LeSaux Bentley Tugay Sherwood Duff Shearer Bellamy Subs: Flowers, Short, Henchoz, Wilcox, Warhurst, Santa Cruz, Jansen
Roversider Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 What about Super Atko? Before you laugh, probably the most under-rated player we ever had in the Premiership AND far more contribution to the 94-95 win than Batty.
bazza Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 With regard to Wilcox creating goals:- Not as many as Ripley - and although I liked Jase - I don't think he was in Duffs league at their peaks. Wilcox created far more goals than Ripley. I am always amazed at the number of goals made and scored by Jason Wilcox when I watch the video tapes of the 90's. I know this is a late addition but I wrote down my team without doing any research and have only changed Billy McKinley for David Batty when I remembered Batty. Friedel Berg Hendry Sutton Le Saux Bentley Tugay Batty Duff Shearer Bellamy Tugay and Sherwood are both play-makers and wouldn't fit in the same team. OK! OK! I only saw Sutton play centre back for five minutes but I believe that that position was his best so I'm sticking my neck out (as usual). Had he opted to play in that position, I think he would have been a revelation and would have been an England regular.
brfc_andrewtatt Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 this is based both on ability and who i generally liked, thats why savage is there instead of sherwood 1. Friedel 2. Berg (He has to be in the team really and it's only becasue I'm a big fan of Nelly that he's been shifted to RB. I though Lucas Neill was excellent for us, both then he decided to go to a club who should have got relegated just for the money!) 3. Le Saux (Warnock is brilliant and I'm sure in a few years time if I do this he'll probably be in but Le Saux just for the fact he popped up with a few goals. He gets a lot of stick of the media, which is unfair, however he isn't a very good pundit. Also that goal against Brazil was a belter!) 5. Hendry 6. Nelsen 7. Hignett (I really enjoyed them few seasons when we had duff dunn and jansen, and hignett was a player who fitted in well with them, and scored a fair few aswell and is the type a player i like, a goalscoring versatile midfielder who did a good job everywhere. I still say to this day if Hignett had been fit in 00/01 season we would have gone up as champions. 8. Savage © (I think I'll make him captain!) 4. Tugay (The Maestro) 11. Duff (Could win a game on his own, scored so many goals running from the halfway line. That goal against Birmingham is one of my favourites of all time) 9. Shearer (The best goalscorer i'll see in my lifetime) 10. Jansen (Up there with friedel as my favourite to put on the blue and white shirt, a diamond left foot) I think i may do a second XI, it feels wrong leaving players like flowers and bellamy out!
