Rover9 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Stevie Warnock's coming on Bit late mind but at least he is getting an appearance!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 When was the last time two Rovers players played together for England? (As in both on the pitch, not just the squad)
Hughesy Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Still refreshing to see him get a chance. At least under Capello he doesnt appear to be behind the likes of Shorey
tony gale's mic Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Still refreshing to see him get a chance. At least under Capello he doesnt appear to be behind the likes of Shorey McLaren may have picked him too though. When Shorey was getting picked Warnock hadn't really done enough for long enough to be in the squad at that point.
oozy Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 When was the last time two Rovers players played together for England? (As in both on the pitch, not just the squad) Back in the 90's when we had Shearer, Le Saux, Batty, etc.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I thought so as Dunn/Jansen never got a chance under early Sven.
tony gale's mic Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 mmm, Jansen's motorcycle accident can be traced back to that clown picking Keown instead for 2002
Eddie Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Good to see Capello following his "I select based on form not club" attitude by picking Wayne Bridge. Who else should he have picked? Bridge is a good player who did get quite a lot of playing time for Chelsea this season.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Who else should he have picked? Warnock. Unless I am mistaken, Bridge played nowhere near the amount of games as Warnock because of Cashley's good form.
Eddie Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I would assume the starters are picked more based on their performances within the extended camp (I would hope). I was talking more about his actual inclusion in the squad.
RovertheHill Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Man City are pretty weak at left-back. I rate Warnock extremely highly and clearly so does Mark Hughes. Another bloody worry!
AndyH16 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This almost sounds like he wants to leg it too: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle1240375.ece
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/7437052.stm Might even get his first cap taken off him. What a joke.
philipl Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 The T&T game is confirmed now as a full international.
den Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Warnock excited by Ince's appointment and not looking to leave.
Sandiway Blue Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Warnock excited by Ince's appointment and not looking to leave. Good for him i am glad he has seen sense!
malk Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Good for him i am glad he has seen sense! Erm... he's seen sense? How about he didn't want to leave in the first place and was merely expressing valid disappointment at Hughes leaving. Good for him clarifying matters to a (relatively/formerly) reputable news source.

But that article is written by the Sun! Admittedly it is mostly direct quotes but the sun is still rubbish (^o^)// "It’s not that I don’t enjoy the club itself but he was the reason I came. I wanted to play for him." I read that as him wanting the manager to stay. To go from there to reading it as him wanting to leave the club is a bit of a leap. Either way, he's stated a committment to the club now which is all kinds of good!
Sandiway Blue Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 “It’s not that I don’t enjoy the club itself but he was the reason I came. I wanted to play for him. "I respected him as a player and I respect what he’s doing as a manager. “Fingers crossed he’ll stay but obviously if he’s given permission to speak to another club then you just never know what can happen.” Sorry but it didn`t sound like he was fully committed to me. It also didn`t just appear in the sun but in other media outlets too.
Hannah Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Players can't win can they - They come out and say I want to stay and we don't believe them, they say nothing and we think they will go anyway. Why would Warnock say this if he didnt mean it?

It also didn`t just appear in the sun but in other media outlets too. It might have appeared in other media outlets but they were all reporting from the same quotes given in one sitting (was it the beeb who he talked too initially?) You've highlighted three quotes that all say he liked Hughes and wanted him to stay. None allude to him wanting to leave and the section you underline simply points towards the very real possibility of Hughes' leaving after he is effectively given permission to do so. I don't really think you can justify your thinking that he isn't fully commited from these or any other comments he has made, especially with the hindsight we now have from his clarification that he doesn't want to go anywhere.
