Wil say it again,if hughes dont get either the Chelsea,or City job,he wil not be a favourite in JW's eyes.there wil be unrest, and i suspect JW wil not be too kind with Hughes.i think the fans wil also turn on Hughes for even considering taking the city job.if he had asked to talk to chelsea, then i dont think the fans would have had any reason to complain.fact of the matter is,Hughes is flirting with disaster if he takes the city post, and is flirting with causing problems if he returns to his post at Rovers.

Nicko, how happy/settled is Roy Keane ?

Be a great appointment.

There have been some throw away suggestions about "killing oneself" and "returning my season ticket" regarding some of the names mentioned so far the job.

However, if this Cork prick gets the job then I really would be reaching for the robe....or jacking in football

I don't think we need to fear. JW is a very astute man as he has proved time and time again and he won't go for anyone whom he perceives as wrong for Rovers. As has been hinted, I believe that includes Fat Sam.

I wonder what Hughes will do in the event that it all goes pear shaped? His position will be untenable at Rovers and he could yet be left without a suitor. Again as has been hinted but worth a mention.

I was sitting on the Roque story for several reasons.

I know there is an agent trying to rev things up to move him on. I had a call from the Paraguay camp when they were in Germany, quite specifically stating that Man U and Arsenal want him and that an agent was trying to get things moving.

However Man U have Benzema at the top of their list and are trying to do something this week before Euro 2008. They do not have a Plan B as yet. Roque may be one of a handful of options, but that's all.

Arsenal have another striker in mind, but that one has not run its course yet.

Obviously if Sparky finds a home he will take a look too.

Roque has been settled and happy since he came here but there are always people who will try to cash in on him.

Thanks for getting back Nicko, I thought you'd gone quiet when I asked last night.

I spoke to him recently and he stressed his desire to play regular first team football, not sit on a bench. Rovers can offer that, with the big four he might have to be prepared to sit games out. But we all want more money!

Can the board (is it something that is done) put a clause in Hughes's move away were he can't raid Rovers for players for a set length of time?

Nicko; any idea how long we have to wait before there is some sort of closeure whether or not Hughes is leaving?

Hughes is a gonner, you don't go and talk to other clubs if u don't want to leave in the 1st place do you

So..

Hughes is off.

Bentley is off.

Santa Cruz is off.

Perhaps we are £30m better off, to add to whatever spare cash was already there.

It's scary, but exciting. The new man can certainly have his own team. Wonder if big Sam could get Anelka?

(For the record if I could hand pick a manager it would be Bilic, but I reckon it's unlikely)

Nicko, just a small question in all this frenzy..do Chelsea also have to ask Rovers for permission to speak to Hughes? And if so would the terms be exactly the same as those sought from City?

How can a 'true' fan come out with this clap trap and say they'll stop supporting their team on the basis of the manager. If you want plain sailing and an easy life go and support Manure or another top 4 side. Supporting teams like Rovers is for real fans who love the club not the individuals. Get a grip!

Totally agree - I have noticed a lot of negative comments about rovers and wonder if the people making them are true supporters and not glory hunters.

Oh great, so rocky is happy at rovers and yet his agent is trying to peddle a move. Fantastic.

Rumours in papers that Fergie wants Santa Cruz for £15m and that Hughes wants both Bentley & Cruz with him at City if he leaves.

Wow, the tabloids really are inventive. Hughes in talks with Man City..............................................2+2.........

Well done guys.

Just seen the Man City to get Sparky and then come for Roque and Bentley story...it also reveals that Rovers want £5 million and the manager has THREE YEARS left on his contract.

Make your own minds up.

I am not sure the manager is too impressed with Bentley lately, so I would have my doubts about him signing the player wherever he goes.

Anyway, one step at a time.

If hughes fails to land either chelsea or the city job, where do we stand ??

Do we suck it and see (with our manager not showing loyalty, can't expect new signings or existing players to do the same)

Or do we get rid ?? Do we have to pay him off ?? Would that involve getting rid of his entire backroom staff team ??

Anybody ??

Yes, of course. But in their case it would be a bundle of cash up front and no questions asked.

We are all still waiting for that magic moment to happen.

The longer it goes without Roman getting tired of romancing Scolari, the worse the agony gets.

The Daily Mail stuff about Ronaldinho and Jo being lined up by Man City makes me chortle. Does Sparky know what he is letting himself in for if he goes there?

I think the more pressing question is what happens to all of the posters with 'sparky' in their names... ;)
