For the sake of completeness Talksport claimed about 9p.m. tonight that

1) Hughes was in a London hotel in a meeting it was believed with Citeh officials. (Was also on hand if Chelski needed him)

2) Allardyce was in a meeting and uncontactable until midnight. They said they couldn't divulge where or who with but they inferred it was Rovers by saying "if you put two and two together from what we've been talking about you'll get the drift."

3) Ancelotti had supposedly distanced himself from the Chelsea job after the earlier SSN reports claiming Milan and Chelsea had done a deal.

TalkSport get a lot of their News from SSN remember, so those could be from the same 'sources'.

I'm not sure what I want to happen tomorrow now. If he went to Chelsea then I wouldn't of minded, but City, I feel angry about.

Looks like he has to decide on City or come back to Rovers and sit it out for a bit.

I think it has to be the first one really, strange end to the night that Chelsea stuff, I really thought they would go in for him. I suppose he will be a bit gutted.

Personally, I'm not so sure that going to City will necessarily be a mistake for Hughes. He believes in his own ability and that of his backroom staff. City is a bigger platform than the Rovers and if he gets it right it will enhance his stature even further. At Ewood, without investment, how long could he have kept the club in the top half of the table? I suspect he felt that the Rovers were not in a position to move forward and therefore, as you never stand still in football, he could see the club going backwards and if the club began to slide so would his reputation.

We don't know for certain how much Hughes would have to spend at Ewood this summer. If he was told that he would have to wheel and deal in the bargain basement again I could fully understand why he would want out.

Sadly, the halcyon days of Jack Walker's spending power of the early 1990's are long gone and we have returned to being a club that will always be a target to be raided by those with more cash.

I wish Mark Hughes and his staff all the best if they move to City and thank them for the superb job they have done at Ewood Park.

Somebody mentioned 'selling' some of their bets on betfair....how do you do that?

Selling the bets means the same as laying them.

I'm killing myself laughing at the return of the "stroke boy"

Can an admin not look for a @skysports.com (or something similar) email address in the database or whatever his name is, Andy........

have real madrid really bid for ronaldo nicko, or is this just a rumour to see if sky sports news pick up on it?

No, it's true.

You start telling porkies and it makes the whole thing a waste of time. There's no point in that.

I know the exact figure, I'm using a slightly changed one in the morning. I will keep the precise figure to myself [including the decimal figure!].

Given the President of Real Madrid said today Ronaldo cannot have shirt number 7, that was a very clear indicator.

Let's see how the Glazers' bankers react- they are the decision-makers on this one.

OK they bid 99 million Euros.

Is it the kind of figure that Utd can't reject?

Perhaps it's worth putting Nicko's thread in a members only forum, away from prying eyes but allowing guests to browse the rest of it without hindrance?

Depending on how difficult it is, it is an option.

Is it a Trevor Francis style figure?

IS this correct ??? Hughes in negotiations with Chelsea ?

Comes from Setanta Sports

This revelation came soon after Blackburn agreed a compensation package to allow Hughes to move to City, with reports suggesting that the Manchester United legend was in advanced discussions with Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, a friend of both Zico and City owner Thaksin Shinawatra, Botafogo legend Carlos Roberto, believes there is still a great chance of the Brazilian national side's third top highest scorer succeeding Sven Goran Eriksson.

"I spoke with Zico and I asked him how the situation was in relation to Manchester City," Carlos Roberto told Globe Esporte.

"The leaders liked him and are investigating. For them I said the answer must be given in coming days. The chances of him taking over at the club are great.

I'm prob making 2+2 =5 but a couple of thoughts ....

I sit in the JW upper inner and I must say that Hughes demeanour on the touchline for the final weeks of the season was not positive at all imo. He seemed well ticked off at times and seemed to spend more time sat grim faced on the bench than usual.

I was only thinking today about Hughes and his attitude. It became fairly obvious during last season that he was not content with how things were going at Rovers, via his constant comments hinting at lack of funding and not being able to progress. I was wondering how much of it rubbed off on the players and if it contributed to some very sub standard performances in the second half (or more) of the season. Maybe it was clear then that it was only a matter of time before he jumped ship.

Even if he doesn't get either the Chelsea or Man City jobs, it is unlikely that there is a way back for him with Rovers now.

Actually it cant be, just looked up the odds on Betfair and Hughes is 1.18 for City.
