[Archived] Nicko's Thread Part 3

If true this is well weird and was taken from the responses to Andy Hunters article in the Guardian.

I was in school with Mark Hughes and unless he was keeping it very quiet he was never a Chelsea fan, always Man U.

He's obviously a good manager and to be ambitious you've got to take chances, especially these days in which a tiny elite wins almost everything. He needs to prove he can work with a bigger squad, with more expensive players, in front of bigger crowds, and dealing with a dodgy owner. Man City will be a stepping stone for him."

Not sure if its been mentioned, but on the beeb website,it say ancelotti wil not be off to chelsea.and that Hughes is in advanced discussions with them.

Being a public corporation, the Beeb's sports desk were probably all tucked up in bed at the time Nicko spilled the beans here last night.

Well the karma from thousands of murdered Thais and a looted Treasury should ensure at least 72 disputed offside decisions and 23 controversial goals conceded next season so my Buddhist mate says.

Roque (aka Che Guevara) will nod a last minute winner in front of the loyal Rovers end to rouse the global populace against the Welsh Pretender on the opening day of the season. Prepare for glory.

But for every Che, there is a Castro lurking in the shadows. Let's hope he is still in a Rovers shirt when it happens.

Does the 4.5m compo figure include compensation for the backroom staff? Considering what happened with Brum when Hodges left his could add to the coppers significantly.

Also no real money on Bowen for manager surprises me as he is often off his seat barking orders. If he was placed in temporary charge I would be happy with that provided he can attract players.

Would he move to with Hughes City if he was given a proving period as manager. I have a strong feeling he is quite a forward thinking coach who will make it as a manager? I think Hughes would miss him.

Depending on how difficult it is, it is an option.

Harder than you think, we're having a tough enough time managing all the new accounts and just keeping the bloody site running under such a heavy load. I do have a very good idea though that hopefully I'll have in place for the next day like today.

That kind of thing is for the Souness thread- back to the current happenings, how about the figure they are putting on the compensation- £5 mil seems to be the reported sum- is this accurate from what you know nicko?

I've read these latest pages this morning and wonder if the thread should be re-named Pinocchio's Nose. Okay - maybe that's harsh but how is the news that Abramovich will take his time over appointing a new manager " quite sensational," Nicko?

Yes it probably rules out Hughes for the Chelsea job - but sensational? - give me a break. We're going to have to start inventing superlatives for REAL stories if this carries on.

Well, the Chelsea manager job is the biggest story about at the moment (unless you count the Ronaldo bid ;) ), and most people thought it was coming to a conclusion either yesterday or today. Abramovic then halted the process by the sounds of it, which means OUR manager will now have to leave for City today, or come back with his tail between his legs.

Because previously it was thought that Chelsea wanted to get their guy in before the Euros so they could go after targets. Not they will have to most likely wait.

Roman is also hardly one to be patient either, maybe he is softening in his old age.

Listen, son, I have had two long days...

If you think you know more about how clubs appoint their managers and when a major force like Chelsea gets itself in total chaos because the owner and the heirarchy are pushing in different directions then feel free to spout forth.

The day you get your next story will also be the day you get your first.
