Andy Kennedys Hairdo Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Rubbish, so let's get it out of bed again. Souness was fortunate to win the league cup with a talented squad that he was lucky enough to inherit and then dismantled before jumping ship with the club heading rapidly for relegation. The club was alot weaker when he left than when he arrived. Hughes inherited a poor squad full of dispirited players that he slowly transformed into a talented team that has finished in the top 10 for the past 3 seasons. Hughes leaves the club in a much stronger position that he found it. End of story. It's opinion, mate, and yours is no more, or less, valid than anyone else's around here so why come across as so dismissive ? It makes you sound slightly loathsome and odious. That is unless for some reason unknown to anyone but yourself you are the somehow 'special' and omnipotent with regards to thoughts surrounding all things Blackburn Rovers. Which I doubt very much. By the way, didn't Souness inherit an underachieving squad full of overpaid championship players (Grayson, Dailly, Harkness, Frandsen, Peacock, Ward etc) that he slowly culled and transformed into a talented team that got promoted and finished 10th and 6th in the first 2 seasons back in the Premiership ? Oh, and as Leftfooter points out, he won a trophy too didn't he ? Then again he did sign Amoruso and Grabbi and only steered the team to 15th in his final full season so lets forget all that went before, eh ? Not sure about inheriting the squad that won the league cup either. I was under the impression that he signed Berg, Hughes, Cole, Friedel, Bjornebye, Johansson and Hignett. Not to mention Neill and Tugay who didn't play on the day in question. But I guess your referring to Jansen and Dunn who were on the verge of leaving before he turned up. Anyway, that aside, yes, Hughes has left the club in a stronger position that he found it, no question - was it 2 points and bottom after 5 games in ? - but then so too did Souness. Like I say, just opinion.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 If it doesn't count as tapping up or something, tip somebody off at the club about Laudrup, or his agent, because it would be a coup if we managed to get him.
Hi Mack Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Jesus - he's only been gone an hour! Past experience also suggests that you will hear little or nothing officially from the club until they have found their man. Which is as it should be in a well-run business. It might be frustrating but I think you had better get used to it. your very naive if you think The board have only just found out hughes was leaving. They'll have known for a good couple of weeks! The point i was getting across was we are never informed what is happening at our club, the club where we pay the wages!
T4E Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 When Hughes came in after souness the players had a major part to play in Hughes' appointment so just wondering if JW will be asking them again! Why do all your posts look like (very bad) Haiku's?
modes98 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 If it doesn't count as tapping up or something, tip somebody off at the club about Laudrup, or his agent, because it would be a coup if we managed to get him. Who cares about tapping up, everyone else does it! Nicko get on the phone to Bilic and Laudrup and tell them Rovers want to talk to them and would welcome an application. That should get the ball rolling.
Flopsy Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 is there such thing as a good one? Whats happening with Ronaldo Nicko, can you PM me the figure so I can have a good laugh? Ta
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 If it doesn't count as tapping up or something, tip somebody off at the club about Laudrup, or his agent, because it would be a coup if we managed to get him. He's a free agent, you can call him. [Well, not you personally]. Anyway I'm waiting for SSN to break his name or better still Betfair.com...maybe even Rover6 is already on the case, putting himself forward as reserve team boss.
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 is there such thing as a good one? Whats happening with Ronaldo Nicko, can you PM me the figure so I can have a good laugh? Ta You would laugh if I told you it was £63.7 million.
gumboots Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 your very naive if you think The board have only just found out hughes was leaving. They'll have known for a good couple of weeks! The point i was getting across was we are never informed what is happening at our club, the club where we pay the wages! Only through our sky subscriptions. what we pay for tickets goes nowhere near paying the wage bill. Of course a good chairman will have known since the Newcastle affair if not before that there was a possiblity of Hughes going and will have started making quiet enquiries but as Nicko said, they could do nothing openly because it could be construed as constructive dismissal. Doesn't mean that we aren't doing anything. Behind the scenes it will be frantic activity just like when swans swim. We just don't get to see it until there's some sign of real progress having been made and the deal being virtually signed. Better that way. Let sky have their fun reporting all the non-runners while JW gets on with finding the real successor.

philipl Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 You would laugh if I told you it was £63.7 million. A perfectly round 80,685,100 Euros at the current exchange rate.
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 would man utd accept that sort of offer? There's a twist, but THAT is something I must keep quiet just now.
