Nicko,

How close was Hughes to getting in at Chelsea? Did he choose City over them? Or did he think he was never going to get Chelsea?

I think he was led to believe he had a real chance. But when the top man doesn't want you then there's nor much you can do.

Of course when he is asked about this tomorrow it will be the stock 'media speculation' line...but some of us know better.

I've only heard you talk about one person like that before Alan! It must be a seriously disollusioned Owen Coyle?

The excellent Coyley will get his chance in time...not yet. He still has missionary work to do.

However the interesting contender just now really ticks all of my boxes.

Nixon, I don't want names. You say some decent candidates in the running, do you mean this genuinely? Or are just trying to lift the depressing feeling around here.

I sort of smiled for the first time in a week or so when I read your post there.....

I have a feeling that we may move for Gary Johnson, I wouldn't want him but he does fit alot of the criteria.

I would be surprised. He's probably never even spoke to a big name player, let alone played with or managed one.

I have no reason to mislead you.

And you wont scatter a bit of a hint along the lines that I asked? :)

Candidate A - British, free agent, Premier League experience.

Candidate B - Foreign, free agent, Premier League experience.

No initials before you ask...

I am getting VERY excited! By the sounds of it we have possibly two excellent candidates- one of whom will be revealed tomorrow.

I personally think Collins/ Ince/ Billic would be excellent for Rovers.

I do agree that the face fitting is vital for Rovers. Ince commands respect from players, Collins has a continental approach and Billic has worked wonders with Croatia.

I get the feeling Big Sam is a definate outsider.

There are also other names in the frame and being considered, but the two I mentioned interest me greatly. I'm not saying they will get it or advising a sly fiver on Betfair.

The process is at a very early stage but from this range it looks good - and I will be stunned if you don't get someone very interesting to take charge.

It would be better still if the club spoke to a few people to see who is out there...as long as they don't take forever. I don't think they will.

Depends if Premier League experience means playing or managing.

Based on the above it cannot be Ince.

Intriging- British NOT English- Collins perhaps?

Grant has premier league experience...

I'm currently laying Big Sam at 2.16

He may well get it but Rovers have stated they won't rush and it could take a while. If several candidates will be talked to as Nicko suggest then BFS will be a bigger price at some point.

I read that Bilic has experience from Everton and the Premier League.

I guess he is the foreign candidate.

But he's not a free agent is he?

I thought the clue was in ""give it two or three weeks" as that would take us past the Euros but with them being free agents I'm puzzled.

Personally given those two hints I'd guess at

McClaren and Houllier

As mentioned in the other BFS thread I'd like someone like Bilic, but Laudrup would be a superb appointment in my book and ideal for the job.
