nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hi nicko - me again - you seem to have avoided my two posts asking your thoughts on Henning unless I've missed something. Never mind! Not ignoring you, just have no info on that one. Henning was a good player and might make a top manager. I have just not heard his name mentioned at this stage.
imarover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 historic and current premier league managers. Are candidates 1 and 2 on here somewhere then alan?
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 any more clues nicko? and has any of there names been mentioned? Has anyone NOT been mentioned...
roversmum Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hi nicko - me again - you seem to have avoided my two posts asking your thoughts on Henning unless I've missed something. Never mind! How about this for a third question? Well, last night you waited until around 9pm to tell us the 'sensational' news re Abramovic wanting to buy more time and the split there between Kenyon and co wanting Hughes and the owner apparently not. Will you be telling the nation that Hughes was only using Man City as an attempt to get Chelsea to play their hand? Letting 40k plus Man City fans know that he didn't really want to go there will be more than amusing. Keep up the good work. he already did
BringOnNextSeason Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 jus noticed on the bottom of that article zico is a free manager. could he be interested?
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 historic and current premier league managers. Are candidates 1 and 2 on here somewhere then alan? Funnily enough they are not. I will name one in the morning. I know he is in the thoughts and what is planned. Getting more info on the second...it's one that has come out of nowhere.
imarover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Funnilhy enough they are not. hmmm... so were they assistants or players?
BringOnNextSeason Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 nicko when you say what is planned. do you mean if ronnie takes over?
LeChuck Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Can't help thinking that if this situation had occurred a year down the line Alan Irvine would have been top of most people's list. Can't understand why anyone chooses a candidate based on sentiment, a past connection with the club has absolutely no affect on how well they'll perform as manager. Wipe out his connection with ourselves and not one person would suggest him, his name wouldn't even enter anyone's thoughts.
imarover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 candidate 1 : dean saunders would explain the brown nosing
roversmum Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Neither do I as a rule, CLB. (re post 3862) However, this site is handy for news, it picks up most of the stuff the newspapers and websites put online about Rovers
Alex Rover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 nicko when you say what is planned. do you mean if ronnie takes over?
rossyste Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I think the british candidate has to be shearer.........williams is shrewd enough to realise the appointment of a rovers legend will capture the fans imagination and attract players/new money to the club..........and maybe even push us up the motd running order
AJW Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 i wonder if we were close to make any signings before hughes left
Dunnfc Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 1. Joe Royle. 2. SGE or Avram Grant. Thats all i can think of premiership experience.
benlloninho Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 It's already started, just read "Man City bid £18m for Bentley + RSC" on another forum. I thought the fun part about making up football rumors would be having people believe them? Who would seriously think we would sell our two most influential players for so little?
gumboots Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 They might bid that but does anyone think we're even thinking of selling before we get the managerial matter sorted. It could be that one or both will be dead keen to work with whoever we bring in. It could be that he takes one look and thinks I need the money and I could sell these two or one of them etc. There is no point in anyone trying to buy our players just at the moment and I can't believe Mark Hughes doesn't know that.
Paul Mellelieu Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 These last 48 hours have proved that Rovers fans are at their best when they're most miserable. Keep up the good work. Now Philip, get that guitar out and give us a chorus of "We will overcome", whilst I nab Nicko and force him to spill the beans.
tony gale's mic Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 1. Joe Royle. 2. SGE or Avram Grant. Thats all i can think of premiership experience. Neither candidate has managed in the Premier League. Either a player or an assistant. I'm thinking.. 1. Shearer (which other possible Brits could be in the frame who have played but not managed in the Premier League?!) 2. Deschamps - nicko might not have been a fan of his self-publicising style but I think like others he'd see him as a good candidate for Rovers. Or maybe I'm very wrong...
