PAFELL Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Daily Mail reporting that: Villa after Brad Nelson, Warnock and Roque want out now (sorry if this has already been posted) Brad would not leave Rovers - he has said on numerious occasions that Rovers is HIS club. Hughes was not daft - he has known all along that Rovers was but a step for him. He did a good job for Rovers and put the club in a better position than it was before he came. As to the players - recently there has been a lot of activity with putting the players on new contracts - maybe Hughes did that to protect Rovers from the vultures after he left. Mark Hughes is a long term planner, not a short term. Why would city want Roque when they are after the barcalona player?

jim mk2 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 No Jim, Paul's pretty much correct. It's the man, plus the money. Without Dalglish, Jack's millions wouldn't have 'bought' him the title. Look what followed after 1995. Same with Fergie, Jose, Wenger. Now Hughes has loads of money, it's up to him and his talent. No excuses. No he's isn't. He said money cannot buy success, which is plainly incorrect. It is unlikely those four would have won anything without money.
Lurid Coat Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Bloody Steve Patrick hanging out his dirty linnen in public again. Doubt we could get Monkou, he's in the Ancellotti and Scolari league. Penrice is just pie in the sky stuff. As if he'd be a number 2. Yeah, it sounds pretty unrealistic, I would have thought that both are out of our league. What a statement of intent and ambition it would be if the rumours are true, though!
alexanders Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Daily Mail reporting that: Nelsonwant out now Nelsen made a pledge to stay with the club ' Nelsen won't follow Hughes
briansol Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Regarding Nelsen: But the Rovers captain has played down talk of move for him, with the New Zealand international remains confident that the squad will stick together. Nelson told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We're all contracted to Blackburn, it's as simple as that. "We all love coming into work and we all love playing for the club. So we're really happy at what we do." The defender added: "I can't talk for other players about what they might want to do in the future, but I certainly know on the last day of the season we were all happy."
Blackburn Ender Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Agreed. He should have said, money doesn't guarantee you success.
Claytons Left Boot Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Virtually no one in football these days is loyal to their club - money talks.
modes98 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 which fool came up with this, he turned down Man Utd before the got VDS so i doubt he'd join Villa. Silly very silly. also on a note of poor journalism, BBC reported MGP was one of M Hughes best buys, well thats funny cos im sure it was Souness who brought him here Those were my thoughts as well, there is no way Bradders would leave us. and indeed Souness did buy MGP a few days before he departed.
thenodrog Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Avoid Ince as manager. Bllody right! Wrong character type altogether for man management.
alexanders Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Those were my thoughts as well, there is no way Bradders would leave us. and indeed Souness did buy MGP a few days before he departed. He was benched by Mark Hughes right away when he was appointed manager.
imarover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 'Sexy' Candidate B: ..former French international football player who has also worked as a model. He was recently quoted whilst commentating during the France Vs England (27.3.08) friendly, that he is looking to get his UEFA coaching badges and return to football in the near future. David Ginola?
EwoodGlory Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Great shout on Ginola, didn't know about his badges.
leftfooter Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Call me old-fashioned; but can we drop the 'sexy' references please, in respect of either Candidate A or B. Some of us are slightly uncomfortable at the thought Thank you.
joey_big_nose Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Daily Mail reporting that: Villa after Brad Nelson, Warnock and Roque want out now (sorry if this has already been posted) I find it impossible that anybody will want to do anything before they know who the new manager is.
alexanders Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 About Ginola from wiki: David Ginola is considered by many in English Football as one of the best wingers of all time due to his "magical" touch on the ball and his ability to get past players from any type of position and then manage to score a goal. Maybe he can teach MGP some tricks!
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I cannot see Nelsen or Brad leaving. Roque and Bentley are the ones who look most likely to leave. I'd like us to put plenty of effort in keeping Roque. Absolute rubbish if Hughes thinks he can get both for £18 million combined. If i was running the club i wouldn't even consider letting a player leave until a new manager is in place.
thenodrog Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Steve McClaren has got a mate to put it on SSN that money is going on him... Not falling for that one. I'm not even falling for 'Steve Maclaren has a mate' full stop.
tcj_jones Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hang on, I thought Nicko said he would be revealing mystery candidate B this morning?

Absolute rubbish if Hughes thinks he can get both for £18 million combined. If i was running the club i wouldn't even consider letting a player leave until a new manager is in place. As I argued about a month ago, with Roque's horrible injury record maybe it is best to sell when his value is at its highest? He's bound to have those knees break down at some point. You could also say that as he and Benni don't appear to work well together one of them might need to leave in order to make the team more effective. I don't want to sell RSC, but if we got a big price for him then things could work out.

(15m) Wouldn't like to see Roque leave at any price but I suppose we have to have at the back of our minds that if his knee problem flares up at any point he could be sidelined for long periods.

We'd be much better off getting a decent fee for Benni.
Eddie Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 But that's less likely. Also, although many will disagree with me, as Bennis is the better finisher (*puts on helmet*) I feel that he would benefit more from an improved midfield and a more suitable forward alongside him than Santa Cruz would.
bennyboyt11 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 We'd be much better off getting a decent fee for Benni. can we get a decent fee for Benni? Pretty poor season from him this year
vintageadidas Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 What has Hughes said? Hope he gives us some credit. Very disapointed in some of the things Warnock has said, however they could have been taken out of context i suppose. Friedel - Got to stay Warnock - Hope He stays Nelsen - I am not too bothered Samba - Hope he stays Emerton - Hope he stays Bentley - only person in our midfield with any class, if he goes must be replaced by a very good player Dunn - past it for me Reid - past it for me Pedersen - Not bothered if he stays or goes RSC - MUST KEEP HIM Benni - Keep him
