Dont get all the shearer negativity.........he would put bums on seats and may actually be the catalyst to attract new investment in the club.........a legacy that would last far longer than him potentially running off to newcastle in a couple of years time assuming of course he is a success.Lets not forget the premier league is a brand..........having a ex rovers legend who is known in WORLD footballing circles is imo just what we need.

Personally I can't see KK seeing the year out at St James's Park.

Really? I thought he was a real down to earth lad with his head screwed on - obvioulsy not! It seemed to me like he only signed a new deal for Hughes and is not bothered about wearing the famous blue and white halves.

Who are you talking about?

You have to remember it must have come as a shock to the players.

Indeed. I also don't think any of the players would make a decision to leave before they know who the new manager is. The new guy might be someone they work even better with.

Isn't that always the case. There are no jobs for life anywhere, let alone football. Ask Tony Parkes

Indeed, noone is here forever. But if Shearer showed even decent ability as a manager he'd be the #1 target when there was a vacancy at SJP, and that tends to happen fairly often...

I've seen that a norwegian paper, Dagbladet, have stated that Henning Berg (currently coach/manager og FC Lyn) is in the frame.

Any thoughts nicko, or anybody else?

As Hughes said about bentley leaving ... they are contracted to Blackburn Rovers.

But as, well, everyone, says; Players have all the power these days. They are contracted yes, but when a player wants out they usually get their way.

Why?

If he could bring Arshavin with him(who is twice the player of our motormouth right-winger) i'd be completley forget about Hughes & Bentley

As I've said previously, he's the Dutch Souness. Falls out with players for no reason, leaves them out in the cold, not something we can afford to have. And he'd want ridiculous wages.

I would be surprised. He's probably never even spoke to a big name player, let alone played with or managed one.

Lee Trundle?

I really don't want Shearer. As someone else said, either he fails, or jumps ship to Newcastle. I've not got a problem with a manager using us as a stepping stone, it generally works out well, but not Shearer again, and not to them lot.

Who is candidate B?!?!

Ideal candidate in my view - I did a lengthy post on him yesterday on one thread.

I've been checking Dagbladet for the last few days for any possible rumours - I'll have a look now!
