modes98 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Chelsea could not have stopped me taking the Man City job: Hughes He's a liar now! Now he is just being stupid. Next He'll say i wouldn't take the Man Utd job over this fantastic chance to work with some of the world's most talented footballers. Michael Ball for instance.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Chelsea could not have stopped me taking the Man City job: Hughes He's a liar now! He can't exactly say oh i really wanted the Chelsea job but City will do as my second choice. He is lying though.
vintageadidas Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Also, it was an EASY decision to leave rovers! Little suprised at that.
Presty On Tour Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 wasn't hughes interested in michael ball last summer?
modes98 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 wasn't hughes interested in michael ball last summer? I think so, and wasn't souness after him as well, but he got Warnock instead! Shame Ball would have been amazing here! At least Hughes has got Dunne and Michael Johnson now!
broadsword Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 wasn't hughes interested in michael ball last summer? Did he want to go and see him in "Aspects of Love"?
Hasta Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I really don't want Shearer. As someone else said, either he fails, or jumps ship to Newcastle. I've not got a problem with a manager using us as a stepping stone, it generally works out well, but not Shearer again, and not to them lot. I agree with you. One thing though is that if the board were to decide that Shearer was the man he would get 100% support from the fans, even those who don't want him at the moment. Rightly or wrongly, that wouldn't be the case with Allardyce.
nicko Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 On the Candidate B situation. I won't mention this guy's name for several very good reasons, so don't keep going on please. However I know he wants the job, the club seem interested to talk to him and he is a 'rip snorter' in my view. But there are other things going on and mentioning his name right now could cock up the process. Bear with me on this, it could be worth it in the end.
Iceman Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think the majority of fans are shocked, but somehow need to get over it quickly….i think JW needs to get in a manager as soon as possible, because you get the feeling that, with limited resources that the new guy will not have enough time to get in new players,or the right players. Im not too happy with this JW taking his time over a new manager…its quite worrying that with the club knowing of Hughes intensions, that they haven’t at least spoken to potential candidates themselves. Im not a fan of Shearer as a manager, neither am I on Paul Ince.At a time when we struggling with financial backing,we cant be taking risks on somebody who has had no managerial experience, and another who has had some at a lower league club. If I had a choice it would be Either Allardyce or Houlier, maybe Bilic. These guys have been in the game for a long time now,and would at least know how to put out the training cones, without having to think about it.
thenodrog Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...ger-Hughes.html He should have worded that better. He's just made himself sound daft to everybody but the very biggest smackheads in Moss side..
Presty On Tour Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 for publicity and selling out ewood every week, shearer would do that. i really don't think he wants management as he has an stress free easy life with the bbc and his golf tournaments.
Rover95 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I really don't want Shearer. As someone else said, either he fails, or jumps ship to Newcastle. I've not got a problem with a manager using us as a stepping stone, it generally works out well, but not Shearer again, and not to them lot. I agree 100%. Its just nostaligic nonense wanting him to come back. He's done nothing to suggest he wants a managerial career nor has he gained any experience anywhere and apart from all that I couldn't stand all this again in 12 months when Newcastle come a calling. I wouldn't mind Paul Ince but it sounds like Candidate B is a lot more interesting....

But can you tell us if he's been mentioned on here?

Presty On Tour Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 is candidate b employed as a manager at another club nicko?
The Prof. Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 But that's less likely. Also, although many will disagree with me, as Bennis is the better finisher (*puts on helmet*) I feel that he would benefit more from an improved midfield and a more suitable forward alongside him than Santa Cruz would. I want whatever Eddie's on! What colours the sky up your way Eddie?
Blueboy Downunder Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 nicko, can you tell us if possible when we might learn more about the candidate b and who this bloke actually is?? one thing for sure is that we need to get a new manager in as soon as possible so that he can start planning for next season.
bringdunnback Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 is candidate b employed as a manager at another club nicko? He's already told us he is without a club, foreigner and has experience in the premier league.
novella Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 candidate B was a foreign free agent who has managed in the premiership before. id just wait until things become more clear instead of guessing a lot of names though.
nicko Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 There is a process going on here with regards to the post. The chairman is at a meeting in London today and tomorrow. I believe he will establish who the runners are over the next few days. There is a board meeting next week at which I would imagine a list of names will be presented. Right now it is a case of finding out who wants it, what they would want, who they would bring with them. If it goes properly there should be a final choice next midweek. Some of the candidates will be wanted by other clubs, so there is that to consider. But overall it's moving and it's moving properly from what I can see.
adopted scouser Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Are the trusties the ones working with the mersonaries? Definately!! Tell me you did that on purpose
Eddie Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I want whatever Eddie's on! It's a large dose of football sense...not many on here take it.
