More rumours for Shearer.

Friend of mine who works at Rovers said Shearer is the only name being mentioned at the club and that there was nobody of any significance at all at the club today.

Betfair odds are tumbling all the time

Now Bergkamp could be possible, is he suppose to be going to help out at Ajax ? It would definitely be sexy football with him in charge.

Might be a bit difficult if we get into europe, and face a trip to Russia or something. Could he get back in time for a game at the weekend ;)

Would Ruud leave LA and D-Beck in the World Series for Blackburn?

No problem, it would be The A Team style with Samba knocking him out !!

Yep. Very highly rated Brazilian who plays for CSKA Moscow. Strong, fast, should do well in England as long as he is willing to put in the effort.

Imo Eddie,Vagner love is a much better player than Jo

On the Candidate B situation.

I won't mention this guy's name for several very good reasons, so don't keep going on please.

However I know he wants the job, the club seem interested to talk to him and he is a 'rip snorter' in my view.

But there are other things going on and mentioning his name right now could cock up the process.

Bear with me on this, it could be worth it in the end.

Taking a guess here based on briefly reading (perhaps misreading, in a hurry) the points that he is a foreign manager out of a job and well respected...Jol?

I wonder if he knows of any clauses in RSC's or Bentleys contract

This is a key issue. Check out the contract para on this story on Frank Lampard

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3987907.ece

If this is true, Bentley could buy himself out of his contract in two years time - though this has not been tested legally yet. So Rovers would have this summer, or next, to sell at a high level. Next might be tight.... so will we be tempted?

Hughes will know the position. And he will need some dressing room allies in his rebuilding job there.

In the end if the cocky little runt needs to go then the £15m we would get would put the new guy £30m to spend on a pretty strong Premiership team. With a bit of Arte and a whole lot of Labore he should be able to make a big impact with that sort of cash. And you never know, maybe the Trustees will wake one day from their slumber. I prefer to think of them as Arthurian Knights ready to receive the Rovers call in times of great danger, as the Camelot King is supposed to do when England is once again threatened.

These are truly exciting times... and if anyone doesnt want the ride and fancies instead to be the plaything of a psychotic dwarf then let him depart.

We are the Rovers.

Meaning it would have to be around 17 million pounds now for us to sell.

Problem is what would we do with the money!? He is a class player.

Im getting sick to my stomach with how this pre-season is turning.

I can get over Bentley for 15 million pounds but him for around the same figure is sickening.

So lets see, if there really is interest in those two (and rem the sales of Berbatov / Adebayor will almost certainly increase the fees) and we sell them then Hughes could easily have made upwards of £30m for Blackburn Rovers in just two players in just two years! On top of that he'll have made a fortune on the likes of Samba and Warnock and tidy profit on Roberts and Benny! Lets also rem that he cleared £2m profit on Shefki bloody Kuqi too!

Meanwhile we see that City are reputedly offering to double his wages up to £3m pa!

Maybe next time I suggest paying a manager a 'controlled' 15-20% commision on transfer profits people will not be in such a rush to criticise! (Are you PhilipL in particular reading this?) £5-6m shared between them would have seen him and his team still happily in charge at Ewood and keen to find the next bargains for the production line with £15-20m to help that the club could allow from the proceeds just for that purpose. It's not necessarily Hughes the manager that we will miss as much as Hughes the scout.

Jack Walker said time and again that BRFC MUST be run as a business...... the board have let him down and missed a huge opportunity in that respect.

We won't make a profit on Roberts. 3.5 million or so wasn't it? One of Hughes' worst signings really.

I think we might be able to get 3.5 million back if we tried hard enough, Jason got some important goals last season and he tries hard.

I think we will be keeping him however.

That is flawed logic. Football managers should stick to running the team and the commercial men the cash side. The moment you mix the two you are heading for a footballing car crash. This type of scenario leads only one way. Human nature means that Rovers' transfer policy would mirror that of Harry Redknapp whose 174 (fact) transfers at West Ham led to all sorts of accusations which ultimately led to his departure.

Premiership football would be the only target, so wave goodbye to any glory days in the Cup or Europe neither of which particulary add to a player's value. Even in relegation that ridiculous strategy would see the entire first team sold off and Hughes trousering several millions as a result. Not exactly matching performance with reward is it?

If Hughes was worth £5m that is what the board should have paid him. Do not confuse bonus (paid on whole company results ) with commssion (based on cash in only).

Mate of mine with family in Blackpool said they spoke with Colin Hendry in a pub in Lytham last night and he said from what he's heard the job is Shearer's if he wants it.

Nice to see Allardyce drifting in the betting.

Though he may have been visiting, I know for fact that Colin moved away from the Lytham area a good 12 months or more ago now.

Not dismissing your friend, just stating something which may question the validity of the statement.
