Just been listening to five live and they interviewed Mark Bowen. The BBC presenter Pougatch was going on about City being a superior setup and that Bowen and Hughes must be relieved to finally get some cash.

They also intereviewed Henning Berg, he said he was commited to his current club and that he had a contract and good relationship with the owners.

Gary Speed by any chance? He's not English (not sure if that counts as foreign), bags of experience, is possibly a free agent after a stint at Sheffield Utd and his surname links directly to the 'snorter' 'clue'. What's more he seems to be cut from the same cloth as Hughes and will be a manager sooner rather than later.

p.s First post for me, been reading this thread since last August and fed up of everyone else having all the fun guessing names !

For the past couple of days when I come on to this wesite a message comes up saying " IPS DEVICE ERROR". Is that to do with my computer or is that a fault on the site?

Its the site, I've had the same.

Here's a couple of snippets for Nicko to delve into....

I was travelling back from London today and I overheard a conversation on the train (in business class so I don't think it was tittle-tattle. The tone of voice and general demeanour suggested a solicitor or club official not a journo (sorry Nicko). The fella dropped his voice at points and the guard was incessant jabbering over the tannoy, so missed some parts of the conversation.

"Been speaking to John. He's discussed it with Willie McKay and the transfer fee is around £1m. There's also £50k <couldn't make out for guard> fee."

Not sure who the transfer relates to sorry, but the slightly indiscret individual got off at before Newark.

Next part of conversation, sadly the incessant guard was really giving it some at this point....

"... are after Ince."

other end of conversation

"Yes, Sam will be interested, but <missed due to guard> there are issues."

other end of conversation

"He'd demand money from the board and Blackburn aren't the type to be happy with that."

other end of conversation

"They'll know as they are next door."

other end of conversation

"Keep me informed if there's <missed due to guard>"

Although some of the above is paraphrasing, the word "demand" was most certainly used, and I guess "they are next door" relates to Bolton being close to Blackburn.

I was looking forward to some more gossip but he didn't get any more calls before he got off.

I have been very disappointed at the lack of respect and recognition we have received from Hughes and Bowen in their interviews today. We contributed a large amount to their success and reputation by giving them a chance to start off in the premier league which was a huge gamble. We've had a stable setup in terms of the relationship between manager and chairman and allowing Hughes a level of autonomy. And whilst the finances haven't been great and one could argue could have been better, it’s not like we have been giving them no budget at all.

Its really disappointing and I would have expected better from Hughes.

Maybe next time I suggest paying a manager a 'controlled' 15-20% commision on transfer profits people will not be in such a rush to criticise! (Are you PhilipL in particular reading this?) £5-6m shared between them would have seen him and his team still happily in charge at Ewood and keen to find the next bargains for the production line with £15-20m to help that the club could allow from the proceeds just for that purpose. It's not necessarily Hughes the manager that we will miss as much as Hughes the scout.

Jack Walker said time and again that BRFC MUST be run as a business...... the board have let him down and missed a huge opportunity in that respect.

Even in relegation that ridiculous strategy would see the entire first team sold off and Hughes trousering several millions as a result. Not exactly matching performance with reward is it?

Hence the word 'controlled'.... and anyway we'd need to sell off high salaried players if we were relegated.

If Hughes was worth £5m that is what the board should have paid him. Do not confuse bonus (paid on whole company results ) with commssion (based on cash in only).

'Bonus' OK good point imarover.

.

Dont get me wrong I am the last person to want the club to embark on a spending spree that could see us do a LUFC or much worse. But the point is that Hughes has ultimately gone to a dodgepot hire and fire merchant for double his wage which in the context of his financial input to BRFC is just plain stupidity. After just 3 years in charge what is the value of his squad now compared to the one that he took over? He must have made us millions in his time here and that is a talent that had showed no sign of abating.

I'm going over old ground I know but it was obvious to me at the time that Hughes wanted the City job before Sven was appointed. It was also obvious he wanted the Spurs and Newcastle jobs when they became vacant. There was denial by the bucketful on this board but this has been brewing for 12 months at least- our board have had a year to think about this, are they prepared? I wonder !
