mode_m Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I have been very disappointed at the lack of respect and recognition we have received from Hughes and Bowen in their interviews today. We contributed a large amount to their success and reputation by giving them a chance to start off in the premier league which was a huge gamble. We've had a stable setup in terms of the relationship between manager and chairman and allowing Hughes a level of autonomy. And whilst the finances haven't been great and one could argue could have been better, it’s not like we have been giving them no budget at all. Its really disappointing and I would have expected better from Hughes. I completely agree. It's one thing to thank the club for the opportunity and say your good byes it is quite another to slag off your old club to the media with remarks about money and ambition; those are words you can keep to yourself after you leave. Having said that, today I am more optimistic (generally speaking). Rovers WILL find a new coach and WILL still be a contender for Europe next season and that's the bottom line. Don't care if Hughes is here or not anymore. To be honest, it might be a blessing in disguise. Bring on the new coach!

hawkiiz Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 that could well be about players couldnt it? Willie McKay is a Scottish football agent based in Monaco. He is the agent of many top-level footballers, mainly based in England and France - specifically the Premier League. His clients include James McFadden, Joey Barton, Henri Camara, Scott Brown, Jean-Joël Perrier-Doumbé, Tyrone Mears and Pascal Chimbonda.

Martin Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Candidate B = Pierluigi Casiraghi?? Wasn't he Italy's U-21's coach?
Beta Ray Bill Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Good shout. Checking. What time was this? Was the guy around 60? Not great at guessing ages but he was certainly grey haired and was probably closer to 60 than 50. Mid morning.
tony gale's mic Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I can't see past Deschamps for candidate B. Sexy name, seems to be jumping at every managers job going, has played but not managed in the Premier League before...
MI ROVER Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 So it's you thats been pressing that refresh button all day eh? Not guilty your honour

But take heed RVR; be it karma (as referred to by the legendary iamarover), nemesis or divine providence (as referred to by the Elizabethans), the righteous shall rise to meet with destiny and finally vanquish our tarnished adversaries. "...Yet herein will I imitate the sun, Who doth permit the base contagious clouds To smother up his beauty from the world, That, when he please again to be himself, Being wanted, he may be more wonder'd at, By breaking through the foul and ugly mists Of vapours that did seem to strangle him... ...And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glittering o'er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off. I'll so offend, to make offence a skill; Redeeming time when men think least I will..." (Henry IV Part I – slightly out of context) In the words of the MB legend himself, we are who we are, "...because of what we have is why we can never lose it..." Let Bowen and Hughes have their moment in the sun; good luck to them. Theirs is but a fleeting moment. Let's keep our counsel. When the time calls, we'll be ready. We shall face the rising of the sun. We are the Rovers

simcla Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is getting very amusing (the long churchillian speeches, not the managerial vacancy) PS the sun doesn't shine that often for us to face into in Blackburn (and i mean that literally, not metaphorically) Maybe it should have been "We shall face the freezing drizzle"
thecomebackid Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is getting very amusing (the long churchillian speeches, not the managerial vacancy) I've just thought of a good name for the City of Manchester Stadium: hyperbole (why no 'I'll get me coat' smiley?)
disgruntled Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Cant you disable the refresh function? For someone with "SQL Techie" as your avatar that isn't the cleverest comment.
simcla Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Now that i like! PS the hyperbole, not SQL techie comment.
dcbrfc Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Thanks for that - here's my list of people I can think of at the moment. Claudia Ranieri (spelling) Martin Jol Viali Donis (ex-rover now at Larisa) Grant houllier Donis recently got a new job at a better Greek side
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Explain why that is a daft comment. Some sites can disable things - like the official site wont allow you to right click on images. Some functions can be disabled - i simply asked if this site has that functionality. For someone with "SQL Techie" as your avatar that isn't the cleverest comment.
Oklahoma Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Nicko, don't know if it has been mentioned yet but Aston Villa want Friedel. The link to that news is somewhere behind but the article says that since Hughes left, a lot of players would leave after him such as Bentley, RSC, Warnock, Nelsen... Any truth to this? Why can't Hughes come and buy Mokoena? Now that would be a good will gesture.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Brad is loyal to Rovers, not to Hughes. Santa is the opposite.
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Agreed. He's like Tugay, here for life. Villa could offer £5m and we wouldnt sell. He's worth 12 points a season NO way Brad will leave.
hawkiiz Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 most of it is crap. Nelsen just said he was going nowhere, and he is the captain. benni, reid, samba, emmo, benni, derbs, dunn, gamst, brad, roberts+++ will stay. i think worst case scenario is we loose santa and bentley, that will give us approx 25-30 million extra, so the new guy will have at least 20 million to spend. thats positive isnt it? and then we still have reid/dunn/emerton/some replacement for right wing + benni, roberts, derbs+replacement for santa on top. i cant really se the big problem. last years "silly seasson" was as cold as a witch's tit for us, so it would be nice if we do some shopping this year
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 If they both get sold then that is at least £35m to us - Santa cant go for less than £20m if we are being serious. Bentley minimum £15m. Dont worry Santa wont go, Bentley will
EwoodGlory Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Santa is the opposite. Jumping the gun a bit there, don't you think?
S15 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hughesey. Honestly. Please. Wake up. Whatever you think; Your figures, in reality, two thirds of. Max. Stop with the madness. It's embarrassing.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Well he was going on about how he wanted to repay Hughes for the faith he showed in him by buying him. Perhaps he'll stay but it's one less factor in the battle to keep him here.
